Roberto Firmino

Feck! Wouldn't have minded him going to City, didn't want him going to Liverpool.

Good signing for Liverpool if they close the deal. Brazilian international and looks a very good player, would surely add goals and assists to Liverpool. Might have done well for us but it's probably in our best interests to invest in Pereria than to add to our tally of attacking midfielders.

"Sky Sources"

Benetia was also flying in for talks with us apparently. There's still hope.

Well in that list of players,

Sterling looks odds on to be leaving so he won be there
Sturridge is a walking sick note and can't be relied upon
They haven't actually got Clyne or illaremendi

That said firmino and coutinho partnership could be good for them though.
You can see City paying 70 million euro's? And I think Rodgers and Hodgson will learn from their mistake, they wanted to bring Sturridge back to quickly this season.

Could very well give them back a dynamic they needed after losing Suarez. Good signing for them. We need to make sure we improve vastly with our own signings

Maybe Woody wasn't bullshitting when he briefed that we weren't interested a few weeks back then

FFS everyone cool the jets!

The tools at Sky also said Depay had agreed a deal to Liverpool a month or so back... How did that go in the end? ;)

I suppose it's a good few signings for them so far, Ings isn't a world beater obviously but he's good for 10 goals, Milner is a complete professional and will always give 100% and firmino adds a little bit of flair up front most likely taking starlings place, when you consider 2 of those players were free then it's good business so far for them imo.

I don't remember them saying that.

They get things wrong but they are a bit less bullshitty than the average UK press

Firmino is not quick, not overly more skillful or powerful than those two but he is versatile. He's not even tested as an out and out striker ffs.

He is quick off the mark and skilful, certainly more so than Benteke and Lukaku, who are cab horses. Also buying an out and out #9 is a waste of time when Rooney is still dominant here, unless you want us to play a lump #9 an Rooney as the #10, which is what would happen if we shell out over £30M for either of those two.

concern which has been proven false multiple times in his history as a manager.

Really? His Bayern team relied so heavily on the ball out to Robben that it was their only form of attack in the CL final. I also think we can see how restricted Di Maria is already under him.

He's not a fecking striker though. So there's that.

He's played as one for Brazil and with Rooney being here there's no point in buying a world class #9 as he'll start most of the time, so a player who can play there and in other roles in attack makes more sense.

I got the feeling ADM is the player who had most of the liberty.

He's quite obviously Sterling's replacement. They're just buying him before selling Sterling to avoid Hoffenheim asking a ridiculous amount of money when they see Sterling sold for an absolute fortune to either City or Chelsea.

It was all over the news, Liverpool approached Depay and sky ran a story saying an agreement was in place. LVG stated in his press conference that they didn't want to complete the transfer so soon but they had to due to other interested parties ;)

To be honest, I have no fecking clue who or what this guy is. Just read something about him being an attacking midfielder.

Anyway, no point being bummed out about players we didn't sign until we find out who we did sign. Only then can we make a comparison.

The fee is between 25-30 million pounds which is much higher than what was being reported over the last week

Sky is just as unreliable on occassions.

Yeah I really don't get the wank fest over Sky sometimes, Need I remind people that Jim "Deadline Day" White tweeting that Benatia was on a plane to Manchester to sign for United!

He was on a plane alright... to feckin Munich!

With Falcao leaving and RVPs future still in question it makes perfect sense that we're in the market for a striker. Firmino is no better than those two as a striker, like I said he is still unproven in this role which is not the same as saying he hasn't played in that role. Benteke and Lukaku are proven goalscorers in the doubles even with smaller teams in the EPL. I'd take either one of them any day over Firmino as a striker

BBC are the most reliable source.

So from being close to City and United to signing for Liverpool..... yeaahh right!

Until its on the Beeb, I'll take it with a pinch of salt.

Perhaps we were / are interested in him but he isn't first option.

Edit: @Loublaze - snap! :)
