Riyad Mahrez | Staying at Leicester

It will take around 40 m pounds to get him, and for his quality it's decent.

We could really get some money back by selling januzaj, young to China and few bucks for rooney.
That's not a bad price at all for an EPL winner, with proven experience in this league, at 26 yrs old. Compare to Silva who City paid £43m, where the risk of adaptability to this league is still a factor. Id take Mahrez over Mhkitaryan and Mata as our RW option.

He's far better than Perisic imo

Cheers.

Yeah I guess in this ridiculous market that wouldn't be too ott, if Troy Deeney will cost around £30m suppose it isn't bad at all.

Just look at how good he can be. You don't lose that skill overnight. Properly motivated he could be immense for us and Jose. I'd love to see us put in an offer.

Yes but do we want another player that needs to be babied and have everything set up for him to not down tools. Yes he would be bloody amazing but he could also have a bad start sulk and down tools

I agree, there's suspect temperament there. Also, he's the most un-Mourinho player I can think of.

An excellent player,for sure,but don't touch him with a bargepole !
He's a moody, sulky player who only turns it on when he wants, similar in temperament to the likes of Lukaku,Benteke etc.
Just ask the Leicester fans......

Because you would expect the fans of a club losing one of their best players to lavish that player with praises.

Which players would suit him better yet offer creativity and width and counter attacking?

Yes Jose wouldn't buy Mata now but he has used the creativity of Mata in the final third very much this season and got the goals from him. Mata is slow so definitely is a limited player and would not lure Jose ,but from teams point of view creativity with pace and width and speed is definitely a requirement to improve the attack even further to compete and challenge for ucl. Creativity is a attribute not many players offer on a good level. Besides his work ethic is decent, not very low. Someone like perisic brings different qualities which can be countered in a high level ucl game, but creativity on the wing is a very good attribute which not many players have.

Regarding the selfishness it can really be controlled in coaching, and when the player is good enough to score some selfishness is ok, and maharez has a good shot.

He may or may not do this deal but I feel he's decent for this squad to compete against high level teams.
Players like Willian and Carrasco fit the bill better than Mahrez, I'm not going to list them all off individually but that's the prototype.

You've answer your own question there. You say Jose wouldn't buy Mata but cite him as an example as to why Jose should buy Mahrez.

Rojo went on strike to force his move to United.
I know and it's wrong. A few years down the line a player like that could do the same to us and that's why I never seen Rooney the same after the Man City incident.

And both are not available. Creativity is the word i used most as the reason as to why,

Who says they aren't available? There is more linking us to Willian than there Mahrez. Still, they were just two examples of the type of winger Jose will be after.

That greats, but creativity alone won't be enough to tempt Mourinho hence the root of our discussion.

I dont think its right, but it seems to be the norm nowadays.

But sometimes I understand why players do it. Remember the time that Liverpool blatantly violated a gentlemen's agreement with Suarez that would have allowed him to leave when that clause was met. Clubs dont do things the right way either, so everyone is looking out for themselves.

Excellent player when he puts his mind to it. Would take him as a squad option with a chance to cement his place for 35m.

He was unplayable during their title winning season. Matas replacement?

I bet he regrets staying one more year as his stock has fallen. I see him replacing Ozil or Sanchez at arsenal just seems like the perfect fit for him.

My thoughts exactly, if Sanchez goes then Mahrez would be a cost effective replacement. I think he'd do well under Wenger too.

Don't know why but I'm convinced we'll end up signing Mahrez. I predicted in the "predict 4 transfers for this summer" thread that we'd sign Mahrez (my chain of thought being that the Griezmann move would fail), he's just the ideal signing that we could affordably get for our right wing.

There is a misconception around many fans that haven't watched Leicester often before last season that Mahrez is a defensively derelict player, but nothing could be further from the truth, the freedom not to track back was only recently granted to him by Ranieri. You can be sure that if he signed for us he'd work like a dog for Mourinho to stop the opposition full back, as he did under Pearson.

I said it the minute he decided to stay - stupid decision, things could only get worse. He was already doing everything he possibly could on the pitch that year. What else could he improve on? Another great season? He was just stupid to stay on. Now he's found out and clubs are not going to lick him in the arse to get his signature. He should consider himself a very lucky man to sign for a better club right now. Top 4 seems rather far away unless he decides to sign a piss poor contract. Realistic transfer value is about 25m euro today.

Had he left a year ago there's even a chance he could have been playing together with Messi. Absolutely garbage advice from his staff and a good lesson learned for all those who are playing for lesser clubs and thinks loyalty will reward you. Leicester fans have probably already forgotten about him.

I think he has outrageous skills, but I also feel he's got a horrible attitude.

He played last season like a man who couldn't be arsed.

JM likes inverted wingers who drift towards the middle. Cant see many better than Mahrez for our right wing.

Mahrez and Morata would
be the signings we need to win the title in my opinion. Enough flair and lethality to turn all those draws we had last season to wins.

Mahrez is definitely moving this summer. He almost went to Arsenal last season didn't he? Think he will end up there by August?

no he didn't in fact we never received a bid for him

He chose to ignore all offers.

He's contracted until 2020 so I suppose that makes it nigh impossible to sign him unless he really wants to go. Seems like a fairly loyal dude though.

However ... latest news:

http://www.espnfc.co.uk/story/31420...ive-arsenal-bid-there-is-nothing-on-the-table

"The chairman and I agreed that I would stay another year at the club and that he would let me leave at the end of the season.

"I think it would be the right time for me to leave, I have experienced everything at this football club.

Sources within the club that are extremely reliable came out and explain that they never received a bid for him, believe me don't I don't care.

He's already backtracking on his statement due to lack of interest in him.

The transfer window hasn't even opened yet ! He'll move on, 100%.

Juventus keeping tabs on Leicester's Mahrez

Earlier this month, Chelsea and Arsenal seemed the clubs most likely to battle it out for the signature of Leicester playmaker Riyad Mahrez, but both were said to have been put off by Leicester's demand for around £50 million for Mahrez.

Now, according to the Mirror, Serie A champions Juventus could swoop.

For those interested, supposedly Leicester want £50m for Mahrez (from this article) that's why no team has put in an official bid for him.
