Riyad Mahrez | Signed new contract at Leicester City

More like Lingard or Young. Jose will go for performance. Young was very effective RW last Saturday against Wigan, and has a good partnership with Valencia. No way will Jose give players a chance during competitive league matches. Not unless we're 3 goals up with 15 minutes left.

Mahrez is already that dangerous winger with no defensive weaknesses that Jose will love. I'm not sure he'll be as effective against a team parking the bus as he is playing on the counter. So, I'm not sure about this one.
What I said was with the assumption 1/2 of them mentioned would impress enough to be in his first team plans. If they don't take their chances then you would be right.

He has accepted an offer to join Arsenal, according to Eurosports

It would be a shame if we let him go there without even trying to get him here. He would be ideal for our right wing with Mkhitaryan no.10 and Martial on the left. I guess Jose wants to fit his captain in though.

That source sounds awfully dubious. Ranieri was just saying the other day that Mahrez will stay, and his words were met with a lot more assurance than when the rumours of Kante departing first arose.

Would be an ideal signing for Arsenal's RW. Sanchez, Ozil, Mahrez would be the best trio behind a striker in the league.

If he is available then hopefully we are in for him. Would be a huge mistake to just let him go to Arsenal without any fight.

Don't think Eurosport is a reliable source. Ranieri confirmed Mahrez wanted to stay just a couple of days ago.

He's going to Arsenal apparently. Great move for Arsenal, quick business. No messing about.

Eurosport are pretty reliable, have links to the French media and Wenger.

The prices being quoted are within Arsena's budget since they have only bought one other big player this window. Also, it makes sense for him to be within the league where he showed his best form and at the same time play in the CL this year.

the price being quoted is £42m why on earth would we sell for that little, he has no release clause and we don't want to sell, if he moves you're talking £60m+

nah you're alright think we'll keep him, unless United want to pay us Pogba money ...

He's probably make his way out. Not fun to have a player who's unhappy. Ronaldo almost fecked us over as well as Di Maria.

£41m is a huge amount of money and your investors probably want to secure that amount before it's gone. Leicester is really not the scene for a player like Mahrez.

our owners are pumping money into the club not taking it out, he isn't unhappy and his dream move is to Barcelona not Arsenal.
and either way £41m is no where near enough money in the current market.

We have Billionaire owners, Prem Money, CL money, don't want to sell and he has 3 years on his contract, any less than £60m and he isn't leaving

Leicester shouldn't settle for anything less than £70m. Would be ridiculous to see one of the Prem's best players last season sell for £42m, and then see mediocrity like Lukaku and Stones sell for more later in the window. Not to mention 100m euros for Higuain

Oh please, everyone has to start somewhere. It's quite obvious he's more talented than having to play for Leicester the rest of his career. There's NO WAY he'll spend the remaining three years of his contract in that town - it's out of the question. A player has proven his quality and should be playing at a level where he belongs (Man United, Chelsea, Bayern, Madrid, Barca). That's why there are big and small clubs.

You people make me sick. No wonder the market goes nuts this time of year. No gentlemen agreement at all. Using the logic of the quoted poster above (hobbers) you shouldn't be able to sell him for that price because you bought him for like 300k a couple of years ago.

I'll give you a really honest price on your player. £50m fair and square. Just look back at some of the deals within this region of money (Mata, Di Maria, Torres, David Luiz, Özil). Saying no to that sort of money with all that info in mind could really piss the player off.

If Higuain is worth 94m, Leicester shouldn't even consider anything less than 75m from a PL team for Mahrez.

Who are we to tell him how to live his life? What if he wants to become the Maradona of Leicester? Everyone is different.

Would love for us (Utd) to be in for this guy. In every successful PL team there is always one player that makes them tick and Mahrez was that last season.

£70 million? Mahrez has 1 good season in his career so far, no way he is worth £70 million. I don't deny that he looks to have talent but seriously, last season Leicester is a mystery, even Simpson looked good...

really so after saying we have no right to have a player like this, then naming a bunch of teams that at one point were all small clubs, and Chelsea were never a big club, you say that pile of crap.

remind me how much did you sell Beckham for when you paid nothing for him there for you should have been forced to take £7m, then right? no? stop talking bollocks.

we paid so little for him as he was out of contract in 6 months when we signed him, he is our player so we will sell him for what we deem fit not what some moron on a forum thinks.

he's been offered a new improved deal and he isn't the sort of lad that would down tools and sulk if we rejected a bid anyway

Who are we to tell him how to live his life? What if he wants to become the Maradona of Leicester? Everyone is different.

I highly doubt that is a set goal for him. There are people everywhere telling him how to live his live, no need for us to do that. His agent is probably overloaded with offers and is going through everything as we speak. Why not become the new Bryan Robson/Eric Cantona of Manchester United?

Once again, he's not going to spend his career in Leicester. This is not a claim from me, it's a fact. Mark my words and come back within 2 years.

Higuain's release clause is €94 million which is pretty much £75 million. Higuain is a proven goalscorer, been scoring goals for fun the last few years. Much better option than Mahrez.

Buddy, naming a bunch of teams that at one point all were small clubs? Jesus. I don't know if you're a troll or just being new to the sport. Chelsea was a big club even before Abramovic.

Money is not the issue here. You can offer him whatever you want - he's reached as far as it goes with you guys. He's grateful and will give you one more season (maximum) and then he will want out. This is where the gentleman agreement steps in. You shouldn't stop a player in his progress. By keeping him you're being selfish and greedy. He owes you guys nothing after last season - it's the other way around.

How do you know this at all? Unless you talk to him and are part of his inner circle, you're just like all of us here, someone with an opinion. Again, everyone has different preferences in life. If everyone had this "big players play for big clubs" mentality, Cantona would've played for the Milan clubs or Liverpool instead of United. Stop acting like certain clubs, that you chose, are entitled to all the elite players.

Do you have to use insults every time you have a disagreement with someone on here? You may not agree with what Successful says but that doesn't mean you need to name call. Personally, I don't agree with Succsessful either but that doesn't mean he's a moron.

For having the temerity to put a price tag on one of his players that you don't agree with? I think you need to calm down a bit.

Thanks for pointing that out. I can understand the frustration though, but it's still not an excuse for calling people names. He's probably using adblocker as well.

Oh, and just for the record, there are plenty of people agreeing with me. I've just been spending the past 30 minute shortly answering PMs from people supporting me in this.

It's insane! Surely smaller clubs should be commended for doing their best to hold on to their star players, or in the cases where it's not possible, getting the best possible deal for the club.

Leicester are the premier league champions, if they want to name a price for their player then a club who wants to buy should stump up the cash or keep moving.

In that case why would Mahrez leave the premier league champions to go to another English club who finished below Leicester?

Because according to that guy, an exclusive group of clubs hold a divine right to all the premier players in the world.

Mahrez is easily a £60 million player in the current market, he's better than Higuain for a start

You're quite dramatic aren't you? Firstly you claim someone's opinion makes you feel physically sick, now you've said you've just had personal messages of support flowing in. Anyone would think you've just come out as gay or announced you're undergoing a sex-change. But no, you've just had a disagreement with someone over the value of Riyad Mahrez

I'd imagine you had a very different opinion during the Ronaldo saga though, eh?

There's nothing selfish about wanting to keep your best players. Every single club in world football does it and rightly so. Implying they should just sell because they're 'only' Leicester is ridiculous.

He will stay at Leicester unless an insane bid comes in I reckon. He is worth £60m +
