Speak of the devil.
He's one of the top 5 footballers in the world. Signing him on a free would be a no brainer.

Try top two.
The guy's a cheat, but not a nasty cheat.
btw, didn't He-Whose-Name-Must-Never-Be-Mentioned-In-Fergie's-Presence once reveal in a book, that Fergie had intructed the fellas to dive in the box to win penalties, esp. in Europe?
as far as character goes, he spent the last season playing on painkillers, when most players would have taken off and gone to watch the Rio carnival (well, some players i can think of)
the four seasons at Barca before that, he averaged something like 30 goals a season.
if that's inconsistency for you, i wouldn't mind Ruud n Ole being inconsistent! (someone with access to the exact stats - come in here)
work ethic - he's a forward and they like to be selfish and score goals by nature - imagine checking out Ronaldo's work out and threatening to bench him for not defending - you'd have to be insane - or Felipao - to do that
anyone ever see him defend off corners - few CBs in the world are as good...
when he's on, he's all over the area - not quite as selfish as some of you suggest (we must be watching a different player) - he creates space (perfect for Ruud or Ole) sets ups goal with THE passes, and does help out trying to win the ball back
if most of you have only seen him play in the WC, where he wan't anywhere close to his best - but painkillers and recovering from injuries will do that to you (just ask Becks),
there's tremendous pressure on him to not just play well, but have the stats to refer to later, the way he's slagged off in Brazil - they believe he does his best in club shirts - quite unlike Seba...
he's the only visitor in Milan's European history to get a hat-trick at the San Siro (Milan 3-3 Barca) and of course the Valencia game - chk out his defensive work in that game, if you wanna know
as for his abilities and versatility - well, it's all been said before and right here today as well...

I guess Rivaldo will take Ole's place in the first choice XI, but with the number of games United play AND the number of games Rivaldo misses, I'm sure Ole will get enough games in the team.

Apparently Manchester United 'lead the way' in race to sign Rivaldo... or so they say...</strong><hr></blockquote>

I have done previously in the thread.
Put it this way, if he comes I won't be going down the pub to watch United - I couldn't stand the embarassment everytime he goes down clutching his face when an opponents pass goes astray and finds him instead.

I agree about the cheating. but why single Rivaldo out?
what about Fergie's instructions?</strong><hr></blockquote>
I wouldn't agree with that either if it was true.
Rivaldo's play acting really was too much though. He excused himself in front of the world when it was so abundantly clear to the world that he had taken cheating to a new level. He had no shame whatsoever.
Football authorities seem not to really care though and that's saddest of all. Boston for example, should have been sent straight back to the GM conference for what they did. The guy charged with investigating that case (and any others that may arise in an effort to stamp out fiscal irregularities - another form of cheating) and making the subsequent recommendations is on the verge of resigning because the Football League almost completely overruled him for god knows what reason. Perhaps they would have been overly administratively challenged in having to eject Boston at this late stage. Who knows. It all stinks though. Unfortunately it all starts with that cnut Blatter and FIFA.

Well for someone who isn't a Fergie type player, AF has shown a lot of interest, for a long time!
Having said that, the wages are going to be too much and too disruptive to the salery structure.
I just hope he doesn't go to the Arse, or the scousers

just let it be, brasil are better than us at present, so argentina even though lost to us, so are italy for that matter.
are we gonna highlight every players that scores against england????????
we should but him just to sytop Real getting stronger or any other premier side, this reason amongst others (world class player). should be enough, if ergie can handle cantona and barthez, then he can handle rivaldo!!!!!!!!!
take into account fergie said on numerous occasions that he is the best player in the world, even though ronaldo was scoring shitloads, before WC98.
HOW MANY TIMES HAVE U SEEN HIM WIN MATCHES FOR BARCELONA IN THE LAST MINUTES OF A GAME WITH A FREEKICK??????
He is even better than beckham ta freekicks, and his range of freekicks are also more diverse.
This man is lethal in one on one situations, bit like Raul.
what he done wc 2002 was wrong but he said what he said to escape punishment, if he admitted it he would have got banned for a few matches.
so far that the first time i have ever seen him do sommat like that. The one with sol campbell was geniune, did get smacked on the face.</strong><hr></blockquote>
Imagine Becks and Rivaldo: In my book the two best FK takers in the world, both lining up to take the shot. The keeper would craps his pants.
