Leave Eric out of this. He´s the king and has done far too much for us.

Sure, no problem.

I think most people could empathise with Cantona wanting to give that abusive fan a kicking.
I don't think anyone felt the same about Rivaldo pretending to be fatally wounded when a football bounced of his shin.
People with forgive the flaws of rashness, anger and even stupidity in their players, but cheating is harder to ignore.

It's all relative based on who you are and who you support. I agree that the Eric Selhurst Park incident is quite different, but it nevertheless brings to light the extreme hypocrisy by which fans view players whom they like, and those they dislike. Rivaldo was rightfully disgraced for what he did infront of the entire world, and it simply shouldn't be the prime reason why he should be disqualified for a transfer.

It´s not rivaldo´s cheating that pisses me off, it´s his general behaviour. he only played in 50% of barca´s league matches last season and simply looks uninterest to me most of the time. hes a good player when he can be arsed to play, but i simply dont think his character would fit in at old trafford.

No he's not. Denis is.

I'd imagine for some people the club's image is important, and having someone rolling around like a nonce tarnishes the good work done by the likes of Edwards, Charlton, Robson et al.

He is becoming increasingly nonce-like.

BTW, Don't Becks and Larry make more than Keano ?

No they don't, part of Beckhams new deal was the fact that he earns less than Keano in basic wages, but more overall because of the image rights. They had the pay of all the united players in the daily mail a while back, blanc was not in the top rung of the ladder, ruud and seba were up there though.

Rivaldo, as good as he is/was, has fecked up Barca for years with his hold up play..he always takes too much time on the ball and he loses a lot of balls and never tracks back..
At 30 he's not even as good as he used to be + he is a cheating sod and has a huge ego not to mention huge pay demands..

In essence, he works harder for Brazil than for Barcelona, reminds me of a certain Argentinian
I agree though that signing Rivaldo talented he may be, would be a bad move for us. To me, it's more of the ego/sulking attitude problems that he regularly displays than anything else.

I've been a "victim" of your dry sense of humor once too often!
Anyway, Raoul I believe Rivaldo would overall be a bad signing for us - yes he has exceptional skills but he's rather inconsistent at club level and most importantly, his big-time attitude problems would cause upsets in the dressing room.
Harmony amongst the players shouldn't be under-rated.

I used that same phrase with you yesterday didn't I.
As for Rivaldo....he's not a Fergie type player and the prima dona thing would probably get him in the dog house, irrespective of how little he cost us.

That's precisely why I think Rivaldo wouldn't be a good match for us
If we are really eager to land a left-sided midfielder cum supporting striker, get duff (obviously) or failing that and possibly a cheaper option, Hassan Sas.
left-sided midfielder cum supporting striker

left-sided midfielder / supporting striker

Agree about Sas and Duff. The fact that we only pay 14m on Rio initially is a good sign that we're going to spend more this year.

See explanation above.
Thanks paul!

I though you couldn't improve on your second post, but how wrong could I be?
By repeating the same words, but adding five laughing smileys you've confounded the critics and set a surely unbeatable precedent with your opening three posts.
A real trio-umph!

Well obviously Suckjit's got to be a threat, but I think the way he's burst on the scene there's no reason Trendy shouldn't be competing with kemo soon for self-satisfied, inane, gibberesh (with laughing smileys optional.)
But let's not get too carried away. We'll have to wait and see how he deals with notoriously difficult fourth post.
