Right Winger... Who do we go for?

Much more productive playing from the left, cutting in on his right foot. I doubt we'd have any interest in another left-sided attacker.
This. Lozano I think would be well served spending another season with PSV too. That's a good team and league to bed into. I'd be interested to see his next move but I'd be surprised if it were singing for us.

If we don't get anyone, I reckon Jose will come around to using Sanchez there.

Is Jose the sort of guy to change how he uses players?
I don't think so.
I think he sees Martial and Sanchez as LWs.
Rashford as LW/ST.
Mata as RW.
Lingard as No.10/RW.

I don't think he will switch anybody around.

I would be happy with Willian, a proper RW wich has pace (finally pace on the RW) and wich is a teamplayer and knows Mourinho`s playstyle so wouldnt take long to get into the tactics.

But 60 million i doubt would be the sum we would pay for him.

Sarri wants Mertens to join him at Chelsea it is reported and if that is true i think we have a chance to get Willian.

Or the rumored £60m. Quite a lot for a player turning 30 in under two months. Better to pay an extra £40m and get Dybala, or try to develope some of the talented players we do have.

My sentiments exactly mate.

He played Rashford and Martial on the right a few times as an experiment. Wouldn't surprise me if he tried the same with Sanchez, in preseason at least.

Dybala would cost around 120m, we could get Mahrez, Tierney and Torreira for that money. Or even Sandro + Bailey.
Dybala can play as RW, but he is better as a CAM/SS. Also, I'm not sure that he is a Mourinho's type of player.

Does anyone know how much it would cost the following wingers: Pulisic, Bailey, Lozano, Brandt, Chiesa, Malcom.
And who do you consider is the best available RW?

None of us have any idea what they'd cost in terms of fee or wages. Pulisic, Chiesa and Malcom would be the best fits because the others predominantly play on the left.

With so few quality right wingers available we should just use Sanchez on the right.

He has done well on the right for Arsenal. Do not understand why he have not played much on the right here, especially with Martial who can do a job on the left.

I honestly don't know why Sanchez, Rashford or Martial can't play on the right wing.
I get that in this new age having a player who cuts in on their stronger foot is flavour of the month, but with Lukaku in the box, I'd love to see a proper winger just getting forward and whipping a ball in.
Rashford particularity has a good cross on him.

Either that, or if Dalot's crossing as good as I've read, I wouldn't even mind going 352, but we'd need a left back and CB for certain

We should just forget about playing with wingers

We shouldn't be sanctioning £50M+ on average players like Willian or Arnautovic, and the likes of Lozano, Pulisic and the lad from Leverkusen would probably be a waste of time under Mourinho as Martial and Rashford are already having difficulty. I think Bale is too risky for all the money involved but at least when fit he is a genuine world class forward and has elite level experience so he wont need to be coached.

Personally I'd either play Sanchez there or try to mold Martial into the role rather than spend money on attack under the current boss, let him spend huge on a CB and LB instead.

Can any of our regular Ligue 1 watchers comment on whether Thauvin might be a good option for us?

Will be interesting to see what position Ronaldo takes up when he rejoins us,maybe on the right but I think probably a central position, having said that,Sanchez is quite flexible so we will see!

The delusion needs to stop.

Not good enough for us, imo. Basically, back when we were linked with Mkh and I said he wasn't good enough for us, it's the same reasons why. They both were great stats wise playing in a cohesive team (& weaker leagues), but their overall play is lacking.

The question is whether we need a player who makes us tick or do we need someone to score a bunch of goals off the right wing?

Either is a big improvement on Mata. So its probably down to preference

It's not so much about making us tick, it's more about keeping their performances to a decent standard without the help of playing in a cohesive team and weaker league. I was hopeful with Mkhi based on some of his Europa performances that I was wrong on him, but our lack of team identity compared to Dortmund really exposed him. Having seen Thauvin a few times I think he'd have the same issues unless we really gel as a team this season which, considering it's been so long since we have been an organised team, I'm not too hopeful of.

No disrespect to Mata but, at this point, I think we should be looking for a right attacker who's got more about him than just being better than Mata. I mean, it'll of course be a bonus, but we are so lifeless on that side and I think it'll take a better player than Thauvin to rejuvenate that side.

But theres more than 1 way to do that. Thauvin will score goals whether he has a 7/10 game week after week or not. Having more goals in the team can allow other players not to have to worry so much about getting on the scoresheet, for example our midfield wouldnt have to chip in as much and could concentrate on controlling the game and stealing the ball from the opponents.

I don't think hes my first choice, but a player like him who is a proper goal threat is obviously a decent option given our lack of goals
