Right Winger... Who do we go for?

Finally got around to making an Oyarzabal video. Was a fraction of a second late to react to Vidal's inward run for Valencia's second goal, but it's a fairly representative sample of his overall skillset and versatility in terms of playing wide on both sides - or even through the center. Included some pressing bits to highlights his off-the-ball industry - like the one at 03:10 - that led to a direct goal-scoring opportunity for José, or the clearance and set-piece block at 06:35 when La Real were a man down. Not overly involved in the final quarter of the game following Zubeldia's dismissal - which forced a tactical switch to center forward when Sociedad were on the ball, but he did chip in with a goal and the initial equalizer by assisting Elustondo from a corner:

Was also impressed by their rightback - Álvaro Odriozola. Still developing as a defender, but he was a consistent presence down the right flank, and showed very good awareness and timing on overlaps. Not surprised that he's already capped for Spain while facing competition from Carvajal, Azpilicueta, Bellerín. Could emerge as a candidate to take over from Valencia - who isn't getting any younger.

I do think that we need to strengthen in some areas to be up there with the best. I would say 4 players in next 2 windows ( January and Summer). A LB I would like Tierney instead of Rose. For Midfield there is many choices But mine would be Fabinho ( other 2 being Savic and Dendoncker). Griezmann will come in the summer. I would like Leon Baily for RW/forward.

So my 4 players would be:- Tierney, Fabinho, Griezmann, and Leon Baily. I think with these 4 added to our team/squad we would match anyone.

Top post as usual

This role needs more than just pace IMO, we lack any control in the attack.
Break quickly, find players with space ( players with speed have a knack of finding it). String together 2 or 3 nice passes, and bang, we score. Control is good, but I'm sick of seeing the opposition get time to organize in defence. Pace and skill should be paramount consideration.
It's really up to the midfield to attain control. We need forwards that attack and ruffle feathers.

By control I mean to orchestrate openings, we should add two fliers at RB and LB but I'd like to see a couple of players with guile and awareness who can protect the ball added into the front line, I mean if you look at De Bruyne and Silva, neither of them are that fast but they are so aware of the players around them and constantly find the right pass. Did you see Pulisic against Bayern yesterday? We need a player like that on the right.

We need a world class 10. Or at very least a world class advanced playmaker. I'd gladly fill up our right flank with the option of Pereira and Pulisic.

Agree. But I would like both Malcom and Pulisic, because I see Pulisic being able to play anywhere on the forward line and he would provide flexibility to the front line. If I had the option of just one of them I'd take Pulisic. You'r right.

Mahrez would be a decent shout for me. Leicester would probably take £20million for him in January so they can spend the money. Think we need that creative spark in the middle of the pitch. Mhki just can't do it often enough. Plus, even when he's off form he won't put in the hard work like Ander and even Felli does.

He’s both footed and can play as a CAM.
He's played most of his games for Inter on the left. Yes, he's two footed and can play across the front, but he's not half as good on the right as he is on left. He's usually played on the right for Croatia and doesn't look very good. He crosses better with his left foot and his best skill is going on the FB's outside and crossing. He's a left-winger that could play on the right which is not what we need.

IMO the right winger is determined by who we get as the #10. We need a playmaker in the attacking four, if we got Ozil for example then we could get a more goal scoring wide player, but if we got a second striker like Griezmann we would need a wide playmaker instead.
We have to get a real playmaking No.10 above any other thing.

I agree with Mahrez.

There aren't many obvious outstanding candidates, and Mahrez has proven how good he is in this league.

I'd love us to get him in January and punt Mkhi.

It feels like we need a 10 but it wouldn't completely shock me if Mourinho is happy enough with his options by virtue of the variety and quantity. Mkhitaryan for speed, Mata or Zlatan for technical quality, Fellaini for headers and harrying, Herrera for a specific job a la Ji Sung Park, Pereira for overall midfield play.

Whereas at RW we don't really have that much going on. So while a Sneijder/Eriksen/De Bruyne style 10 would help, I'm not sure there's one out there. Ozil will turn 30 at the start of next season. Likely his best years are behind him.
You ever watched Forsberg? What do you think about him? It seems he plays from the left in a 4222 but he could be our very own KDB and Eriksen.

Mhikitarian can be a good option on the right, seems to struggle a bit through the middle but maybe as an ancillary play maker rather than the main one he can shine. Seems to struggle under pressure

A bit overhyped imo plus we dont have a great record with BVB signings, do we? :)
Kagawa and Mkhi? Co-relation is not cause. That shouldn't take away the fact he's the type of player we need. Also, I won't class him as overhyped when you consider the hype around his peers. He's probably rated exactly as he should be.

Short term just get Pereira back. It'll be the land of the giants in the new year so there's zero sense in the best crosser at the club being elsewhere.

I still like Mahrez, seen him be invisible at times over the last year but the more you see of him since the transfer windows shut makes you think he's been taking it easy and badly wants a move.

Able to stretch play, score/create and runs at defenders, something our right side is proving utterly incapeable of.

This, seeing him playing right wing for Valencia and make beautiful crosses pains me as we have nobody in the team right now capable of doing so

For some reason he's always out when I seen Leipzig, so only see him play a couple of games, but he certainly had a prolific playmaking season last year. I assumed Leipzig, who look likely to be in the CL again, won't lose him and Keita the same summer.

Also, I'd be a little worried that he broke out at 25 and on a team playing very attractive fast paced football, which we probably won't do, but that's more of a feeling thing. I'll watch him against Italy in the playoff and see how he looks.

Watched him in the first leg against Italy, and his touch and vision looked very good. Comfortable dropping deep and beating people and making good short passes. Could definitely see how he would be an upgrade as our 10 in the 3-5-2 or the 4-2-3-1. Bit tricker in the 4-3-3 to see where he fits, though. If we signed him I think it would be best with one of Mkhitaryan or Mata leaving and a pacy right sided player still coming in.

Instead of "right winger", I think it should be a "winger". We don't even have a left foot winger in the team. When was the last time we have a left foot winger who running down the left flank? Sharpe, Giggs and the two footed Nani.

Any wingers who can beat their men, intelligent, and can put good cross will do good for Lukaku.
