Robert Prosinecki

Gifted playmaker and architect of Red Star's European Cup triumph in 1991.

10-Robert+PROSINECKI+Panini+Etoile+Rouge+de+BELGRADE+1991.png

And the current manager of Red Star Belgrade, which he brought back to life with a Barça inspired passing play. He has a bright future as a manager in front of him

Brilliant choice Gio, not sure how you'll accommodate him with Gullit but you surely are piling on the flair and vision as we speak

Prosinecki played as a proper centre mid though didn't he? Not one of those floating playmaker types.

I'm off soon. Anyone on tonight I can PM my first choice picks to?

Did he PM anyone his choice in the end?

I wasn't going to pick the player he wants to pick, but if I did I would have just told him that I was going to pick him anyway. Of course that means he'd have to believe me and thus involves an element of trust...but it would be taking internet gayness to a new level if I was going to lie about a fantasy draft. I understand what you're saying but there's no issue whatsoever.

I've no idea what the problem is?! PM's on the way regardless.

I do not want a precedent to be set hence i asked you to let me post on KM's behalf, despite the fact that it cannot undo what has been done
Let me ask a question - if he wants to pick a player that you are interested in but not your first choice for this round, what would you do?

I'd let him pick him. It'd be unbelievably petty not to! There's a number of players that will be picked that I wanted, the majority in fact...that's the way it goes. It's a game at the end of the day, let's not take this too seriously.

Sadly kps didn't. Is there any point waiting 6 hours to have it confirmed?

ooh it does depend on the period of his career you are concentrating on. At Real Madrid he would be more of a center mid, but at Barça and Red Star Belgrade he was as floating as it gets

Watched him in the '91 final and he played a disciplined CM role for Red Star, I just assumed that was his position because he didn't seem to have the personality to wander in the way other playmakers do.

91 final wasn't really representative of how Red Star used to play.. shame that such a creative side decided to park the bus on the most important day of its club history

awful game it was. but you're right, Prosinecki could play in several positions. It's just that his best position coincides with that of Gullit's best position, at least in my opinion

Fair enough. 'twas a dire game indeed. Helps to have versatile players in the middle though which you have to say both he and Gullit were.

Right, if we're going to be waiting on kps all night then I'll be off for a kip - anyone going to be on in 6 hours so I can PM them my choices?

That was a leading question to let us see how things unfold. As you have answered with certainty, any player KM picked other than your first choice, you would let him have the player since it would be unbelievably petty not to. Now the scenario plays out such that your 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th choices gets picked before your turn, and your 5th choice happens to be the one KM picked, you skip to your 6th choice. Would that have happened if another person with no such potential for conflict of interest helped him to post instead of you? I believe the other managers have an interest in keeping the game/competition fair, it does not mean that we are taking it too seriously

You've lost me. Anyway, you're the organiser Polaroid - are we going to wait for kps88's time to run out even though it seems like he's nipped off to bed and he told us in advance?

Yes we will wait for kps88, the rule is the same for everyone - 12 hours max to make your pick, he has slightly over 6 hours to make his pick, it will not be fair to him nor the other managers if an exception is made to fast-track you ahead of him.

Sorry folks. Could have sworn I PM'd Brwned.

Savisevic and Brehme gone. Damn. Didn't expect that from three people.

Didn't expect Brehme to go for a while yet because he was a fullback, once you get past him, Maldini and Bergomi there's a lot of excellent fullbacks in the class below though.

There's one more I'd probably have in that upper bracket, but I didn't fancy the chances of him and Brehme both being around by the time it rolled back down the list.

Posting from a lecture (I'm the lecturer!) so details to follow. I'm going for Lizarazu
