I'm also advocating a before-match drinking contest, keeping with the spirit of the eighties. As Big Norm will be the only guy left standing, I'll win every match by default
Crustanoid, would you mind killing yourself?
I can't believe it. I even had the image URL ready : http://confessionsofamanunitedfan.com/images/norman-whiteside-manchester-united.jpg
thats it, I give up all hope of winning this

Ah well, there is always Venison...or how about Ali Dia? I doubt anyone has ever had access to his birth certificate, but we wouldn't mind you foregoing the age rule
I am pleased to pick Santiago Cañizares, one of the top 3 goalkeepers in the world during the turn of the millennium
i'm going to forego the redcafe rules and punch you in the nose
I've got Norm in front of me now - it won't be possible. And if I'm successful with my next pick, no one will get close to my dugout to assault me
Gio, could you tell me why you picked Alemao rather than Whiteside? Genuinely interested, seeing as you are old enough to have seen Big Norm ply his trade, so for a Man United fan to favour Alemao ahead of him (though they didnt really have the same role) is bewildering.
Forgot about Whiteside - probably because I'm not a United fan. To my cost I'd imagine as he's probably going to be a vote-winner. That said, quite impressed that a Brazilian midfielder with 40 caps or so in Alemao was available at that stage of the competition.
I picked players knowing that if I got through the group stages I would get two more and so forth, I'd be annoyed if it changed because people didn't read the rules through.
Yes, keep it as it is I say.
I would go with the rules as originally stated where you can cherry-pick players from losing teams.
Polaroid - in terms of the voting, I agree with the desire to keep votes 'honest'. But just a little concerned that if half the managers cannot vote in half the group games, we're not going to get a lot of votes for some of these games. With the best will in the world, we're not going to get inundated with votes especially at these early stages. While I agree with no votes for games in your group, I wouldn't extend it any further than that. Thoughts?
my thought is that we should open a poll both in the mains as well as in the newbies (Brwned can do that) and ask them to vote too, so as to get more votes.
I think if we put them in the general they'll get loads more votes.
Surprised he lasted so long. Still a couple of very useful keepers kicking about though.
Once the drafting is complete (all managers have picked their squad of 12 players), the 16 teams will be allocated into 4 groups (A, B, C, D) using Random Group Creator
Okay, didnt think you could forget about anyone seeing as you're one of the most football-savvy posters on this board..
You're a Rangers fan then right? Fair play
How high would you rate my Scottish right-back Steve Nicol? Would you have picked him given the chance?
. Although i am more inclined towards eliminating the possibility of pre-selecting quarter-final opponents through vote manipulation in the 3rd round of group matches, I welcome more views on this and am prepared to go along with your suggestion if the others are in favour.
