Religion, what's the point?

I often wish I had faith. Seems there's more point to religion than no religion.

Who would you rather tongue: the Dalai Lama or Mother Theresa?
Not unlike the 'who do you want to win the league question'. Mother Thersa's success is tainted by human rights abuses and excessive funding from the Catholic church. The Dali Lama's fans are an irritating bunch.

I was raised in a country full of religious bigots and extremists and while I can understand such positions it’s just well beyond me

Yep, ditto. However hard I examine religion, I find it all to be a fairy tale. I admire those with faith, especially the personal kind.

Dalai Lama apologises after kissing boy and asking him to ‘suck his tongue’

Interaction at temple in India seen in video that has gone viral condemned as ‘inappropriate’ and ‘scandalous’

Of course it is the naughty/tease excuse.
I have seen parents and partners use the naughty/tease excuse when confronted with the fact that a close relative/friend/spouse/partner had done something inappropriate to a child.

I want to get down on my knees and start pleasing Jesus. I want to feel his salvation all over my face.
Maybe if you spent less time watching pornography and more time reading you might create posts a bit less asinine than this one.

I think it might be from a south park song. Atleast reminds me of one.

Man, this is not really a serious part of the forum, is it? Noted.
You insult another poster with a pompous comment and when challenged on your assertion refuse to back it up. Now you claim that asking for evidence to back up your claim is not serious. Noted.

Doesn't know the meaning of the word 'asinine'

What are you talking about? You said someone's making stupid posts and related it to their lack of reading. Turns out you just didn't understand the cultural reference.

An offensive and puerile cultural reference that I didn't know, yes.

Are you seriously asking me about a link between reading and intelligence? Is that a serious question?
This is the religion thread and one of the themes that is making unprovable claims is problematic. Your claim is that reading inversely correlates to a propensity to be asinine. Back it up.
