Never wanted VAR and feel vindicated. The guys at Stockley Park have clearly never played the game.
100%Mike Dean’s decision to give 3 mins was down to him not wanting United to score a 10th and his refereeing performance to be forever discussed as a key component of a historic game.
Job done for Mike. He loves the spotlight.Mike Dean’s decision to give 3 mins was down to him not wanting United to score a 10th and his refereeing performance to be forever discussed as a key component of a historic game.
Bollocks. With all due respect, there was really nothing wrong with football laws. The addition of VAR has just caused, confusion.Peter Walton is bang on at BT . Laws were written without var and are slowly being changed based on that . Based on the law Mike Dean made the right call
100%So now we really are going to be changing rules to accommodate VAR when 99% of football is played without cameras.
Money always wins
What happened tonight apart from the pen incident?VAR completely rewriting the rules, it's turning out even worse than I knew it would be. All for what? To stop the handful of offside goals a season.
9-0 game and all we are talking about and the pundits are talking about is VA fecking R.
Boring, tedious, mood hoovering, shite. Sucks the life and soul out of the game including fan reaction to goals.
It's run by idiots and idiots (humans) will always be the ones reviewing it. It's not something that can be 'fixed' for that very reason.
Just revert back to the pure game, black and white, bad call? Tough shit, take the rough with the smooth. We all still loved football, probably even more back then.

Occasional issues but now EVERY law is different, hand balls, red cards, offsides, interference with play.
Why celebrate goals anymore, have to wait for the green light from VAR.
Why should it be when the majority of people don’t want it?VAR is here to stay now and its about getting the best version of it
Well said that man.VAR completely rewriting the rules, it's turning out even worse than I knew it would be. All for what? To stop the handful of offside goals a season.

Two consecutive games where players who’ve pulled out of tackles getting reds, ours was super soft, I was half expecting Martial to get booked for diving, yet VAR sends off their player. What happened tonight apart from the pen incident?
This! I don’t know why everybody who truly loves their footie doesn’t feel this way.VAR needs to be locked in the deepest of dungeons of Moria.
Guard it with dragons and fecking beasts and never let it out again.
I'd take losing the title in the final minute by a offside goal just so i could truly enjoy football again and not wait for VAR to tell me the goal stands.
Yeah, so it's solved nothing.Meh . People behaving like before VAR there was never any discussion about refs and we all focussed on the football. Fact is that before VARwe had the exact same discussions about decisions game after game . VAR is here to stay now and its about getting the best version of it
Why should it be when the majority of people don’t want it?
Well that will always happen, but why is that worse than the whining we get now?Well because technology is there now and going back isn't as straight forward as you think. Imagine you took it away next season, I bet that the first time there is a wrong offside decision people would be crying for it and we would be talking about how millions are resting on these decisions so we have to get it right
Why should it be when the majority of people don’t want it?
Yeah, so it's solved nothing.

Who holds that belief? And why does their opinion count for more than those who don’t want it?Well because the belief is that soon with the technology & the laws evolving there would be less controversy and we will get a more refined version. The only way to get to that is through trial & error
Because I've been going to games for 25 years and considering if I want to bother anymore. It has actually but people just don't want to see it. Majority of the clear & obvious offside mistakes have been taken away now . You can't get away with elbows etc which the ref might miss during games . Players obviously know this so there is less of that . There's lots of decisions VAR is getting right on a weekly basis but we only focus on the controversial ones
Not sure why Dean getting slated here. First was clear red (even though McT changed “holding in agony” legs).Peter Walton is bang on at BT . Laws were written without var and are slowly being changed based on that . Based on the law Mike Dean made the right call

I couldnt agree more. You can’t at the top level of professional football stop a game out of sympathy for the opposition. Utd rightfully earnt another 10 minutes of playing against 9 men and it was taken away by blatant human error bordering on negligence yet again. I understand some people might think this is a stupid thing to moan about but these things should be consistent. The only controversy tonight was 3 mins stoppage time. We could lose the league on goal difference by one goal. It’s not impossible. You have to play the minimum amount of time the game was stopped for. It was double just for the pen. Add in four subs and four goals. Should’ve been at least 8 minutes.
Explain where in the rules it says that the score line impacts the added time. I’ll wait...Not sure why Dean getting slated here. First was clear red (even though McT changed “holding in agony” legs).
Cavani pen/no pen , ok, he could have played advantage but not a poor decision at first.
Martial was caught and I’m sure VAR would have overturned if not.
I bit embarrassing hearing complaints about +3 minutes at 8-0 up

That will be because of the massive bruise on his right knee and the stud marks on his left leg. It was that bad a tackle.even though McT changed “holding in agony” legs)
Rules of the game. That second red for them was ridiculous, I know by the rules it was a red but where's the common sense?
They're injury plagued already and now they're missing a player for a stupid suspension
Agreed. This is basic though surely? Shouldn’t even be a debate, when the ball is out of okay you stop your watch, it’s so easy to get the timekeeping correct. We’ve lost the league on goal difference before. It’s blatant cheating from the official.
Who holds that belief? And why does their opinion count for more than those who don’t want it?
Even after the horror show of tonight, i'm still pro VAR but can't be arsed repeating every weekend the same arguments to the same questions and i'm sure most people feel the same. On paper (and in reality) the game is better with VAR.Majority of people who wants it doesn't even care to discuss this.
I just noticed the existence of this thread.
and from the look of it all the VAR haters are here. Nice.
Well, ultimately the only thing that counts is money. VAR is likely to drive more customers away from the game than it draws in.Well at this point the only opinion that actually counts is that of the clubs & the league and I have not seen any sentiment from anyone there pointing towards it being taken away . I can't remember any other sport where technology has gone backwards so I don't see why football will do any differently . No one is saying that your opinion is not relevant or wrong but unless fans can start some sort of a nationwide campaign against VAR I don't see it mattering much
Rules of the game.
In that scenario we aren’t sitting around three minutes waiting for them to still get it wrong. Each instance of a cockup, people whine but 90% of the time the exact same decision would have been taken if there was no VAR because referees are inept.
