Refs & VAR 2020/2021 Discussion

fecking ridiculous decision that, we'd be livid.

And it took 2 fecking minutes to get it wrong.

That was onside.. and even if it was a MM off feel it should stand. Decisions like Degea Foul and then Maguire foul get a 5 second look..

That gets over 2minutes.

Is that clear and obvious?

Clear and obvious has never, ever, ever, ever applied to offside calls.

Yet in a hundred years when we're all dead and buried and the world is a post-apocalyptic abyss, there will still be someone asking whether an offside call was clear and obvious.

Nod to those of you who have BTTS in all the PL games tonight as a bet. VAR is just wonderful isn't it.

And that was onside. How can they be so fecking inept?
It will count for "VAR favouring United" narrative.
What the media won't say is that it didn't make any different to the result

Already admitted I was wrong ;)
Will probably continue to ask in the future

That goal... their goal against Villa... those are not offsides. That’s not where we want to be, regardless. Imagine scoring in the CL final and getting that wiped off only to lose by one goal.... jesus wept.

Imagine conceding in the CL final against Liverpool and it getting wiped off and then winning by 1 goal. Beautiful!

Offside should be so simple, if you can’t see immediately from a freeze frame and a line, he/she is on.

Horrendous for the game if that’s called off.

Yeah, I'm with you on that one. Would also help speed up calls. This game isn't the best example, but sometimes a VAR call taking forever can kill off momentum.

It's not like Che Adams gained much advantage from that one millimeter anyway.

Never ever ever ever?

Var hasn't been going that long. Are you being a bit of a drama queen?

Implementation is just shite. We didn't need this level of invasive technology, we needed better referees.

Yep.

VAR gets a bad rep but to me that's like blaming the car when some tit drives into a wall when he was looking at his phone.

How do you explain these offsides then? Its literally dictated by the tech.

You may have a point on the red cards etc.

Its football ruled by nerds in a van.

Hate it

It's not, it's some twat in a van using a mouse to drag lines about then making a judgement call about where someone arm ends.

The only call dictated by the tech is goal line stuff, which is always right.

Much like a car can’t crash itself, the video refs watch can’t make a decision itself.

Whether they give us the pen or not, or sending off or not, I hate that they use freeze frame to help make decisions, it totally cuts out the speed of the play, that ball had gone, the freeze frame makes it look tight

Is it a DOGSO offence when a player kicks the ball away and goes over?

There's absolutely no way Martial is catching back up with that.

What a performative load of nonsense that was! Why not refer him to the screen in the first half.

It’s also took 5 fecking minutes off the game!
