Ruud only 15th....interesting

Shocking.

He may well be 15th, but I'm positive the other 14 aren't all better, not when Gary Neville is 18th.

Sometimes I wonder whether the fantastic spell we had in 06-09 got people to reset their brains and forget all he did for us. If ever we were a one-man team, that was it.

Beckham ahead of him too.

Now it gets interesting. Must be Ronaldo, Giggs, Scholes, Best and Eric.

Place your bets. Should be:

5. Cantona
4. Ronaldo
3. Giggs
2. Scholes
1. Best

It will be between Best and Ronaldo though, which would be a travesty.

Can't really disagree with that order if that's the five we've got left.

Would have Charlton in the top 5 personally

Sure. I wouldn't have Ronaldo in the Top 5 myself. I guess it all depends on whether it is purely peak ability or overall contribution. He gave us some great memories, but they only really amount to about three seasons.

In an imaginary world where SAF gets to pick any player he had to start forming an all-SAF-time XI I reckon he would start with Scholes, Giggs, Keane, Robbo, Rio and Schmeichel ahead of him.

It don't think it will be Best because many (myself included) voted only on what they have seen - that needs to be remembered as it does skew the voting significantly.

Am pretty sure Ronaldo would one of the first names on the sheet for SAF.

He would be the first name on the sheet seeing as he's arguably the best player we've ever had, and SAF isn't one for letting sentiment get in the way of common sense.

The problem with these lists is that players from different eras can't be compared as it was a different game. Would Charlatan be fast and fit enough to cope with the game today? Would be able to avoid disintegrating modern footballs? Could Best have shed the champagne lifestyle? How would Ronaldo be able to cope hitting balls that don't swerve all over the place? Could he deal with being kicked off the pitch every game? We'll never know, and these lists shouldn't be taken overly seriously. Also, some are only mentioning players they've seen, some are only rating on their sheer ability, and some are rating them on their impact on the club.

Still, it's fun to do.

All of these players could have played in any generation, that's what makes them greats. Except perhaps Georgie if he couldn't thrive in the more professional culture in today's football.

I saw him play on numerous occasions, and that's my opinion.

Yours is different, doesn't mean you're right.

You're right, it does't mean that is right.

Anyway, do you think that any neutral football watcher would agree with you?
