Did not expect that on Redcafe, nice!
They were fairly big in the Netherlands (for that kinds of band) for a little bit actually; Wenn es passiert was even one of the theme songs for that year's Tour de France tv coverage. As it happens, they are also one of the bands I've seen the most: probably four times. But I went to their own concert just once, the rest was at festivals.
Anyway, great band, but somehow their catalogue is hard to get now. I just can't seem to find their fourth (final) album for a reasonable price.
That's a very eclectic list. Interesting to see Holy feck on there rubbing shoulders with Bad Religion. I saw them play in Hollywood. Live they were a total dance band, which somehow surprised me, because on record they seem more head trip electronica. Live, it was a dance party.
What genres are the Dutch records you listed?
Yeah, I tend to like all kinds of stuff. I'm more 90s for US hiphop, but that's probably also out of ignorance. And I started a little later with most metal I listen to, so that's missing also.
For those other albums - it's a bit hard to be precise about genres, but I'll try:
Acda en De Munnik - Groeten uit maaiveld > poprock (they did theater shows before becoming more focused on their albums)
Les Cowboys Fringants - L'expédition > folk-poprock (Quebec type, that's a lot quicker than Fleet Foxes)
Damien Robitaille - L'homme autonome > funky poprock (very cheeky lyrics, good arrangements)
Malajube - Labyrinthes > proggy rock (a lot of movement in the music, but very melodic, recognizable songs)
Opgezwolle - Eigen wereld > hiphop (Dutch hiphop from the 2000s has been amazing in terms of sounds and samples, and great lyrics as well)
Pater Moeskroen - Niets is wat het lijkt > folky poprock (their background is party music; their folk is often Celtic, but here it's a lot wider)
Wir Sind Helden - Von hier an blind > poprock (a fair bit of synths in there, just really nice songs)
