Redcafe Snooker

Murphy was traumatised after that hour long safety frame, he'll be ordering the entire menu of Mcshat tonight! Did anyone actually want him to win there?

You'd have to go back to 2007 to find a year when one of the finalists in the tournament was someone who Bingham didn't beat on his way to the title this year. 2003 before that.

Didn't manager to watch the last few frames thanks to jet lag but I'm absolutely chuffed to bits for him. What a story.

Just found Bingham's Twitter. The guy is an absolute gem:

Cracking final, when snooker is like that it's hard to find a game with that kind of tension.

It's in a strange era at the moment, no one seems to be able to dominate. I do wish there were some more personalities around, but overall it was an enjoyable tournament and probably the best (only) thing on the Beeb.

Christ, even though he is playing some good shots, Peter Ebdon still bores me to tears.

I'm surprised by his longevity.

Christ, he's still playing. Guess he's got to after the bankruptcy. Was kind of funny him winding up Ronnie though.

Can't believe he missed the black for a maximum :( Some absolutely beautiful shots to get there, in great position, and bam... Doherty v2.0.

Thing is he couldn't have put the ball down in a better position really! Ronnie said on Eurosport he thought the position was slightly better for a right hander because of the vision towards the pocket but still, it's a sitter let's be honest! Wouldn't feel as bad for one of the top professionals that are already millionaires but for someone like Un-Nooh it's harsh because the money would set him up on the tour for a while.

BBC coverage is annoying - why are they a frame or two behind in the Ebdon match? Can't they just show the match live?

Haven't watched a single ball potted on the BBC yet, Eurosport all the way for me, excellent coverage as always.

Just saw the 147 attempt by Un-Nooh, just heartbreaking. And then to add salt to the wound, Robbo comes and has a tournament high 145 break in next frame.

For feck sake... I have the TV off the wall so I can paint behind it, so not only do I miss the Liverpool game, but I also miss a maximum!

The Masters starts on Tuesday?! Seems an odd bit of calendar planning.

Masters are from the 10-17th January
My bad. Thought that was what Hazel Irvine said. Ronnie back at least for the tournament.

I hope Ronnie's stint as a pundit on Eurosport alongside Colin Murray and Jimmy White will give him a new lease of life. He knows he's the best and they will keep his spot on the sofa warm for him ready for when he retires. He seemed to enjoy it and I can only hope he gets back to enjoying playing as much!

Can't believe that from Murphy...

I never used to like Murphy. His openly strong(ish) views on Christianity used to bug the hell outta me, and there's something about his goofy face that did the same.

But then, when a lot of the players were complaining about there being too many games & snooker becoming a chore, Murphy came out and said something like "What a load of rubbish. We travel around the world, stay in nice hotels, and play snooker for a living. How many people would love to do that - And people doing it are complaining? Nonsense."

And then I liked him. Fair fecks to him & everyone else who recognized that while the likes of Selby sat there complaining.

Always liked Murphy (well, since I started paying attention to snooker - some 5 years ago). He's also an United fan.

Will you dislike him now again? ;)

Nah, because like United, he's out :D

I like Murphy, he's always been one of my favourite players. I still think he's got another World Title in him because he's one of the best players on the Tour when the pressure is really on. He's come out and said that he doesn't believe the forfeited frame cost him the match on Sunday, but in a best of 11 match you really can't afford to be so careless.
Best of 35 World Final maybe but even if he'd left Allen a half chance on that red he still may have got another chance and who knows what happens then.

It was interesting listen to Judd Trump speaking yesterday after a great victory, his head seems to be in a great place at the minute. He mentioned how over recent years he'd enjoyed a the young lifestyle and has matured recently and doesn't go out as much. Over christmas he practiced every day to come in fully prepared as he feels recent years he hasn't been ready for the start of the tournament. He would be my pick to great things this year, he's got the game to win all the big competitions he's just usually seems to come up short.

O'Sullivan not looking too shabby, picked up the first frame.

Ronnie just accidentally screwed back too much on a black to the point where he jumped over it.

A bit stop start, neither player able to find much rhythm at the moment.

Selby v O'Sullivan in the QF's . This is why the Masters is such a great tournament, it may not be worth any ranking points but it still has the prestige and any match in any round is worthy of a tournament final.

I hate Selby. He is a boring tosser who tries to joke about to mask his boring playing style.

Wasn't too boring yesterday :D I'm not a fan of his either, but he's decent enough to watch.

He bored his way to a world championship. Hate watching his games. Even when he scores high he doesn't excite.
Higgins v Liang just started should be interesting.
Higgins to lose. Cant stand his cheating, chubby face.
