RedCafe Cricket Draft

Not many sub 30 bowlers left, and most that are, are Australian(who I already have 3 of) and not proven over a stretched period, so by default pretty much. I was hoping on Bond or Streak on this pick, but not a bad option to be left with.

Averages close to 30 or just above 30 don't matter much. It sometimes is a result of home country bias. If you're a fast bowler from the subcontinent, a 30 average is much better than a 28 averaging Englishman

I'd disagree though - simply because a lot of fast bowlers from the sub continent (Pakistan excluded) just aren't/weren't that good in the 90s and early 2000s. I haven't watched too much cricket recently so I can't judge beyond that.

Not really. Because most of the available subcontinent bowlers travel just as bad as some who travel to the subcontinent. Fraser never played there, but I already have two proven in Gough and Gillespie, so it's not a big deal to my team. Leaving Pakistan and Guls a 40 bowler for instance.

I would of taken Srinath too if he was available though.

Oh, I did. He turned up and made his picks himself.

I wasn't refering to you in specific. But for egs, Zaheer Khan is a 33 average bowler or so, but I'd rate him higher than a lets say Andrew Caddick.

Lastly, Umar Gul had a very lackluster first half to his career hitting real form only after his great performance somewhere 2009-10. After than his average has hovered 22-25 even in foreign series.

Yeah Z.Khan was picked a bit late. At his best, he is a very handy bowler to have

Ian Bell. 77 tests, batting average over 47. Exceptional fielder, and one of the only players to have ever scored a test century against every current test team playing (fun fact).

Shakib al Hasan and David Boon.

I liked his moustache. Anyway I've PMed Omar

Al Hasan, another sleeper gone, though considering whats left and what I need, wasn't go to go with him this round anyway as I initially had him down for, but great pick.

Hey, sorry to bother you again but could you please pick Mitchell Johnson for omardalvi and Matthew Hoggard for me? Thanks.
Got this pm from aldo.

Shakib's a very over-rated player, I think. Test bowling average of 31 and a batting average of 34, helped hugely by matches against NZ and WI. And I think the WI average is because there was a strike and WI fielded a reserve team for the entire series.

With the ball, he averages 36 vs Eng, 42 vs Ind, 35 vs Pakistan, 29 vs SA, 40 vs Sri Lanka.

With the bat, he averages 25 vs Eng, 21 vs Ind, 52 vs Pakistan, 15 vs SA, 32 vs Sri Lanka.

Handy ODI player, but I think that's all he is. It's a bit like decent players in teams battling to stay up in the premier league.

Nice formatting Omar. Thanks for the effort.

Against all expectations, the player i wanted for this round is still available. Still 6 picks though and Interval Level is a habitual bastard so i'm not getting my hopes up.

I looked at him but i was really put off by his Test averages the last 3 years - 32, 31 and 27. Thats part timer averages not a leading batsman. I think people have lost a lot of respect for him.

In his prime, untouchable. Never really rated him until the last few years. I don't think form has to do much with it. The entire Indian team has underperformed.
