PM'd Unitedfan, he has 2 picks pending right?

Looks like a lot of people had Shane Bond as their sleeper pick. I certainly did. With that average and that strike rate, if you had to take a chance on someone, it had to be him.

Nope, just the one?

Teams are starting to take serious shape now. The diff picking strategies have been interesting so far. Some have gone all out for batting power so far whilst some have opted for 1 class batsman and the rest strike bowlers...interesting games await.

I'm in the hills for the weekend...KM, can I PM you my preferred two picks? I might not get them, so should I send you 4? But I might not get those, so 6? cnut.

Yeah, gonna have to be Damien Martyn, he was briefly(after his return), Australias most important batter. One of the best to travel to India.

Paul Rifle from Australia. An average of 26. Deceptively good bowler.

Alright, here's one for the slightly older. Might not win me too many votes I suppose

brianmac1909_b.jpg

We never saw his absolute best because he only got to debut internationally when he was 29 but even so, a batting average of 40 and bowling at 34 (first class bowling average was 29) and an incredible slip fielder...and when I say incredible, I mean incredible. Could have been one of the top allrounders but played only 38 tests.

Amazing pick. Was going to be my next. Thought no one would go for him.

I remember him openly calling Raju rubbish and whacking him for 3 sixes in an over.

I loved Big Mac. What a revolution in fielding that side brought to the game.

Why'd you need him anyway? You've got Akram and Watson so your allrounder slot is more or less full.

PM Zing mate. He's not playing in this game but can volunteer for you when you're gone.

I wouldn't say crap but Ntini as your strike bowler supported by Reiffel is a stretch. If it were a real team, with the batsmen you have, you'd pile up plenty of runs (and pretty quickly) but would struggle getting the opposition out.

So basically, a lot of draws.

Going for somone who formed one of my earliest cricket memories when my parents told me he was the best batsmen in the 92 WC.

Martin Crowe

Probably gonna be my captain as well.

Yeah that's what I see too tbh. Stewart may have been one batsman too far.

I had a Sportstar poster of Crowe on my bedroom wall for ages. Didn't particularly adore him or anything...it was just a gorgeous poster of him cutting sharply in bright sunlight.

But my favourite was my poster of Imran. I could've gone gay for him if he asked nicely.
