I was close to picking him. Was deciding between him and flowerIf you are going on average, he has an average of almost 40 with a strike rate of 92.4.
Even ganguly has an average of 41(striker rate of 73) and symonds is the better bowler. Symonds was much better fielder obviously. IMO Symonds in among top 30 players of all time and, at his best, he was a beast. I guess no one else rates him here, but still it really surprises me that people are taking likes of chanderpaul and yuvraj before him.
He has better average than yuvraj, better striker rate and was perhaps a better bowler as well. So please someone admit, that they made a mistake, so that I can sleep happily with the feeling of 1 up.
That is understandable given the keeper situationI was close to picking him. Was deciding between him and flower
I said understandable but symonds is too good so would've taken him over flower as well, although I can understand the dilemma.Taibu was still available......
Shouldnt be much of an issue when the spinners in question are Murali and Kumble. They were a handful for any batting side. Excellent wicket takers with great economy rates. Not much else can be asked for in an ODI.

Sorry I meant of last 2 decades, I've never seen anyone play before 1990 so that excludes a lot of good players. He IMO is among top 30 players of that era. They are a great pair, but I never saw Kumble as a great ODI bowler. Could be just me though!
Symonds is never near the best top 30 players of all time. Don't talk rubbish. I like Symonds but thats ridiculous.
It was more for the role - he is a great middle order anchor - in his prime he was/is unbelievable IMO
It was all about the role - anchor wise - he is among the best IMO. Shines less because of the team he is in.
Symonds strike rate is 93 and not 81, unless you mean yuvraj. Symonds average is almost 40.
He means Smith. Calm down.
Depends on what you want from your middle order I guess. I see the only proper batsman picked after him was Smith (Symonds and Yuvraj were picked more as allrounders). Average worse by 3 - 38.7 Vs. 41.6. Better strike rate but nothig sensational 81 Vs. 71.
Chanderpaul's about Dravid's level as an ODI batsman. Great to build your middle order around.

Ah, I forgot your obsession with statistics over actual playing ability.
And no, Dravid was a better batsman in ODIs.
I don't really get Donadol's strategy by the way. Malinga as the best bowler? I like the lad and he has a decent average but your key bowler?
That barb was uncalled for. Either way, Chanderpaul is a great batsman, definitely better than Smith IMO, and that's the key. This is all opinion.
It's not as much a barb as it is a fact. Cricket isn't as decipherable through statistics as it through actually watching matches.
They play in different positions, however, I know which one I'd rather have in my ODI team.
Just PM me your first and second choice. I will be around and can post the pick for you if you want. That would indeed leave me quaking.
Where the fuccck is mbr? I want to make my pick before I sleep.
Dont mention names nm
He's among the top 10 fast bowlers of the past 20 years. It's not very complicated.
I think you'll find that you won't get a lot of the participants strategies at the moment. I think you'll also find it's because you've picked 4 players.
I wouldn't go that far. Dravid is a true great IMO.
Flintoff as a bowler over Malinga? Not for me
Flintoff as a bowler over Malinga? Not for me
Yeah, but I think there are other quicks (I won't name) better than Malinga. He goes for over 5 an over too.
Virart Kohli and Gambhir.
