Gaming Red Dead Redemption 2 (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Stadia)

There was really no question, but the gameplay trailer makes this look a definite purchase.

The people who were criticising it before any gameplay was shown must look pretty stupid right now.

Has anyone actually criticized the game itself? I thought most criticism was regarding the business model (announcing DLCs before the game was even released) and taking ages to announce the game officially.

Yes they were. People were going on about how single player is going to be neglected and all the focus is going to be online. It sure does look neglected. Pretty sure you were one of them.

I mean I’ve been waiting 2 years for this game but it looks incredible so hopefully it’s been worth the wait. Will be moseying on down to the shops to get it.

I don’t think I ever accused them of neglecting single player but if you can find posts it’d be good to discuss them, seeing as you are pretty sure I did criticize them.

I did criticize them for many other things but I doubt single player was one of them.

Part 3 is when the giant steampunk spider gets unveiled.
 The west can't be wild without it.

Looks great and brilliantly atmospheric. I've not been arsed looking at all the pre-order options it felt like they were going over the top with it so I'll probably just pick it up around release.

You can apparently skin the animals and sell their pelts or take in the entire animal and sell the meat and pelt. So its more rewarding to take in the entire deer. It will also rot in the sun and the way the animal was killed affects the ability to sell the meat and the price for it.

Copied from a reddit comment. Love that level of detail.

Does that really make it a more fun game in your opinion?

That just reminds me of the toll bridges in GTA4.

That's a PS4 Pro and 4K TV purchase worthy for anyone that hasn't got them yet.

I can see his point though. Rockstar have a history of putting in so much detail and realism that it can make the game more annoying to play.

Still, it'll obviously be great.
But you can just skin the animal if you want to avoid all that.

It's a really nice touch, you miserable bastard.

Seems similar to having to work out at the gym in San Andreas to me. I'm all for intricate detailing in the environment with the NPC's, animals, nature etc. but that seems a bit detailed for the sake of being detailed.

That looks stupendous. It reminds me of when I first saw gameplay trailers of The Witcher 3 back in the day, it's that good.

Yep, I'll have.
Deeper, more interactive than ever. That's what I want.

Do you have those quotes or were you accusing me just for the sake of it like you were accusing people of criticizing the gameplay?

I’m not muffled funk going to waste my time searching old posts.

But you were one of those moaning because they were delaying the game to make it better or rockstar don’t care about story no more. All they care about is online despite only showing story for this so far and the online hasn’t even been mentioned.

Rather than take their time with the game you wanted Rockstar to rush out games and blamed GTA online for them not bringing anything out. Which made no sense considering they have like 20 people at most working on GTA online content. The rest of the Rockstar studios was working on RDR 2 and probably starting work on GTA 6. I’m sure the other 1500 workers weren’t sat on their arses counting the cash made from GTA V online. It doesn’t take a shitload of people to add a casino to GTA online.

That’s why I was defending Rockstar. If they rushed the game out and it was terrible then you’d moan non stop. When they delay it to improve it you moan. So they can’t win with people like you. I highly doubt they wanted the game delayed on purpose. They wanted this out by last year which was the original release date, so they can move all the staff over to GTA 6.

You were citing Naughty Dog and some other studios I can’t remember bringing games out every three years as some strange example when Uncharted and Last of Us are not open world like Rockstar games are, so take less time to make.

They said before GTA V online was a success that all their games will be big projects and all the Rockstar studios will work on them as games are getting bigger and Rockstar don’t want their games to be another open world games to add to the 20 that come out every year. They want to differentiate themselves from the rest.

Also according to Rockstar the game has been in development since 2010.

If you want rushed open world games then Ubisoft are the company for you.

I was moaning the fact that they did not release a new game for the new generation during 5 years of its existence because they had been focused on milking GTA V, that’s it. It was definitely a factor because without the money brought by online mode and its longevity they wouldn’t be able to not produce a game in five years.

The gameplay trailer does not change that, I am still disappointed that we will only get 1 or maximum 2 Rockstar games during this entire generation, mainly because I enjoy their games a lot and miss the days when they were productive enough to bring several games during console’s lifespan.

I never moaned about gameplay in any of their games and never expected it to be anything less than brilliant when it eventually comes out which you were implying.

They won't do a remaster, if they were to do that they'd have got this out by now. Next chapter is most likely but considering Rockstar have not made a single game for a new generation during its nearly 3 years lifespan so far, I'm not sure they're exactly planning on releasing any games on Xbox One or PS4 at all. They'll milk GTA 5 forever.

Yeah they've done a good job and updates are free but I think they've earned loads of money through in-game currency sales. I think they make more than $50m per quarter through that alone, plus the game is still selling very well and plenty of people have bought it for two platforms. It's a cash cow for Rockstar.

What the feck have Rockstar been doing for the last 3 years, honestly? GTAV for new gen was largely done when they made it for PS3 and 360 and only needed some remastering, most of trailers had already been captured at Xbox One and PS4 when they were showing them ahead of initial release. Adding stuff to GTA Online is fine but I cannot imagine it takes up all their resources. It's been 3 years since PS4 was released and they have not released a single game. If they're now going to release an RDR remaster instead of actually going for a new game it's nuts.

I don't really follow what is happening with them. I just find it bizarre that a developer this big is happy to sit on a pile of money a game they developed 3 years ago is making them and will not continue making actual games when they have two or three of the most lucrative titles they can use including possibly the biggest of all time in GTA.

Yep. I'm not even sure Rockstar will release any game for this generation.

I think they will release GTA6 towards the end of this generation cycle, circa 2020 or 2021 but won't at all be surprised if they don't release a GTA on this gen at all. It's really sad that we've gone from having three installments between 2001 and 2004 to having zero new Rockstar games between 2013 and 2018. I have been slated for saying this because "they owe us nothing" but I really wish they had released something other than a remaster of a PS3 game during the 3.5 years PS4 and Xbox One have been out for.

Yeah I’m not particularly bothered with Red taking time with this game. They’ve only started working on this after they were done with Witcher 3 expansions.

It’s not like the Rockstar situation where I was and still am disappointed with them not putting effort into developing a new game for this generation because they don’t really have the resources to create multiple teams and they’ve already done their job delivering a proper game on PS4 and Xbox One (which will probably end up being remembered as the best game of the entire generation too).

Some Sarni classics in this one.

Yeah they released three games between 2001-2004, why can’t they do it now? Damn GTA online!

Maybe because the scope of games and detail put into them has risen since 2001-2004.

They can’t make a game in three years and just happy to sit on their cash apparently with about 1500 staff just probably playing table tennis. I just don’t understand it too Sarni. They need to follow the Ubisoft example. Release generic open world games every year with a different story.

If Rockstar weren’t so lazy and selfish, we would be on GTA 8 by now.
