(Realistic) January Signings Thread

If we want to guarantee our top 4 status, fans are going to have to stop being accountants! Honestly, I don't know why fans care about what players cost. And our income in rising far more quickly than fees inflation.

What should we do with the noodle money? I'd rather it be spent on excess or overpaid fees than in the pockets of the glazers!
I don't care about money at all, but why spunk a load on players that won't massively improve us? Mahrez won't be allowed to play like he does and Vardy is 28 and just going through a great patch...

There is always players on the market but during the winter you can forget about the in form players and big names. You have to go after the players with buy out clauses and no international competition to fight for, the players with potential and the bench warming veteran.
Indeed and there are always upset, ambitious players not even necessary in big clubs that want to get into big stages and prove their worth.

The choice obviously is not of summer proportions but if you'll look at Young, Fellaini or Blackett we don't have big luxury to complain about opportunity to go there and sign players who can offer much more.

At least LvG could show will to fight and not give up at what's probably is his last battle for good end of a huge career.

I'm not sure who would be available. But if we can't bring in an attacker we must surely recall Januzaj, unless that isn't possible?

We really need at least 1 wide player this January, but can we really buy any players now with LVG's situation? What if we buy a player LVG wants and then he gets sacked after a few weeks and his successor doesn't want that particular player?

Berahino? :nervous: Obviously be a risk but is probably our best chance of getting value for money in the January window.

Otherwise we'll be restricted to young/out of favour players from abroad. Is Sané from Schalke the real deal?

I for one would love us to try and buy a couple of players that are out of form ( not because of recent injury), don't feel good at their current club and are looking for an out. Giving them the chance to move away from their troubles just might give them the spark.

Is Griezmann unrealistic? No harm in trying for is there? Release clause, a fairly reasonable one in today's market. He's said he's happy at Atletico, but he's not really going to say otherwise unless he is pushing for a move. De Gea is 'happy' at United too, even though he was sat in Madrid on deadline day, anticipating a move. Worth a stab. Most players will be open for a move unless they are a nailed on starter at Barca, Madrid or possibly Bayern.

Isn't Isco wanting out as well? Get them both, and lets win the cnuting league.

Douglas Costa...hazard?! Are you high mate?

If it were football manager that's what I,would do, and we need abit of that madness right now

Madrid and Barcelona do it all the time, why can't we for a change ?

Random name... Feghouli? I don't know much about him really. Had a good World Cup and has been linked to us and Chelsea. He's also out of contract in the summer. Has he been any good at Valencia this season?

Edit: I see he's barely played this season. Maybe not one to go for then.

Berahino could be a cheap gamble. Pullis wants rid and we could just wait until the first bid comes in and then match it. I think he'd move to us.

Isco amd Greizeman: works for me! Where do,is end the cheque?

Why the feck are people talking about signing players when we need a manager urgently, who will actually make the most of the excellent players we already have.

------------De Gea

Young - Stones - Smalling - Blind

-Tielemans -Schneiderlin --Pjanic

------Sane --Lukaku Martial

Get it done by January 31st please. Thanks.

How's Felipe Anderson getting on at Lazio?

Teixeira from Shakthar?

I think Felipe Anderson is realistic. Even if he has been underwhelming this season and has struggled against better teams, he could help us. We are desperate after all.

Tolisso, Batshuayi, Gudelj, Embolo and Thomas Lemar could be good signings as well. They won't solve our issues immediately though.

Because they don't take the best players of Bayern either. Real is somewhat the only elite club that seems capable of taking players of other elite clubs that they don't want to sell.

Just look at the latest star transfers of those elite clubs the vast majority came from clubs below them in the pecking order. Suarez came from Liverpool, Neymar from Santos, Bale from Tottenham, James from AS Monaco, Douglas Costa from Donezk, Coman from Juve and so on. The only transfers between those three basically have been Kroos to Real and Thiago to Bayern and in both cases non of the clubs they were at seemed hell bend on keeping them.

We are currently also not attractive enough as a club to really attract top players of these two teams. Hell we would have problems getting players off of other top teams in the league, how do you expect us to buy players from the three best teams in the world right now?

I'd like that.

He's perfect.

I could possibly see Leicester selling Vardy in January but not Mahrez, it's just not worth it for them with the rv money boost coming.
Sign Vardy.

Because a) He isn't going anywhere, and all the whining in the world won't change that, and b) because we're obviously lacking quality and numbers in attack

Can't see us getting any of these players that have been mentioned in the window, even Charlie Austin has emphaticially stated he'll only leave Rangers in the summer. The dream is dead.
He'd score for fun. Hopefully his head can be turned before January 31st.

Bolasie seems like a really good bet with his unpredictability, also would like to see him and Martial form a partnership. Unfortunately he is out for a couple of months. Teixeira might be able to replicate what Douglas Costa does at Bayern, from what i have seen of him.

Given that we would be looking to ship some more players out, you'd think we would require a few signings.

Sell Martial, loan Delay, Carrick to retire, loan Smalling and bring in one left back and a keeper.

Yes please. both.
Aye, haven't seen much of either of them. I'm just thinking "realistic" options out loud.

It will be very, very difficult to prize EPL players away mid season. Laporte has a buy out clause iirc, as well. Maybe an option?

I think, tbf, if we're signing anyone, they need to either:
- solve our problems right now (we're at that stage!) or
- be so talented, that you can't pass an opportunity to sign them (Stones type signing)

But in all honesty, I don't know the players you mentioned at all - barring a little of Embolo.

I know we're crying out for pace and trickery in our team though.
