Real Madrid vs Manchester United

Welbeck is probably included faut de mieux, otherwise the team I'd have expected with the exception of Evans for Vidic. Fergie seems to really fancy Jones as a midfielder.

Welbeck over Nani?! Nani not even on the bench fecking hell.

Welbeck is there for his Kuyt-esque defensive striker role. Nani can't play that role.

Disappointed for him to not be on the bench but its a tossup between Valencia and Nani as neither are in great form.

I can't get my head round Kagawa starting either. Our midfield looks very one dimensional. Lacking runners in the middle. We should always start with at least Cleverley or Anderson.

Amazing from Souness, you can't grow and develop at United apparently even though most of the criticism on De Gea is coming from people who don't even support United!

Schmeichel sticking up for De Gea. Well done Peter.

feck off Jamie you twat.

I guess with the counter attacking threat of Ronaldo Sir Alex doesn't want midfielders bombing forward.

I always think the best way to play Madrid is with wingers, their full backs aren't great defensively and our wingers offer cover to Evra/Rafael. Jones could be a risk to, he's playing against top class opposition tonight I hope he's not out of his depth in central midfield, Cleverley should have started this game.

Actually Kagawa might be a shrewd move... It'll take a bit before he's purring in the EPL, but now he's facing a Spanish side. His teammates in Dortmund didn't do too bad :)

Apparently the plan is for Jones to rub up against as many Real Madrid players as he can during corners and hope that some of them are out of the return leg with Shingles.

Vidic: has played only 1 back-to-back games only once since his knee operation (and had an 8-day gap in between). This time: 3 days only.

Welbeck could be a brilliant inclusion really, time will tell. He'll work hard as he always does, get back when needed and he's got speed and pace that can trouble the Madrid defence, who are without Pepe tonight and have Ramos ONE booking away from missing the return leg.

I have a strange feeling we're going to get absolutely spanked tonight. Nothing to do with the team though I do feel we may struggle to keep possession with Jones in the centre. Just can't wait for that Champions League theme tune now

It's the biggest game of his life, I hope it goes well for him. He'll work his bollocks off that's for sure.

Ballsy lineup. Although I prefer this Fergie to the Fergie of last season which started a defensive lineup at City.

Scholes - injured, didn't travel.
Nani-no clue
Vidic-prob back to back matches.

I think I could make peace with the Scholes and Vidic one (though rather him on the bench at least) but the Nani one bugs me. Off the bench he can cause damage

Nani has been better since back from injury than Val has been all season, it's not even a question.

Anyway, SAF knows best.

I think your line up is too attack minded.

It looks like its set up for an away goal. Push hard for a goal, you'll get battered on the counter.
