Real Madrid vs Manchester United

fecks sake. Why does Sir Alex always want to spring a surprise always? Just play our best team. Vidic might be injured cause he isn't even on the bench, but why on earth is Jones starting ahead of Cleverley?
Disagree with Welbeck starting as well... hopefully they prove me wrong though.

Vs

Diego López, Arbeloa, Ramos, Varane, Coentrao, Xabi Alonso, Khedira, Özil, Di María, Cristiano Ronaldo y Benzema

Welbeck will stretch them.

Just hope to feck he has remembered how to shoot.

Tonight, if we are indeed lining up like that I can see us playing the following players:

Similar plan with Kagawa as the attacking midfielder, Rooney coming from wide and using the left channel, Van Persie as a target man, Carrick looking to control midfield and Jones working his socks off defensively but also looking to drive the ball forward. Either Valencia or Nani providing us width.

I still think we are looking at this formation and tactic with Welbeck in for Valencia/Nani as his work rate and pace will be essential.

Has Vidic played back-to-back games since his second op on his knee?

Vidic not starting isn't a surprise but not even making the bench? I'd have more faith in him off the bench rather than Smalling.

Kagawa/Rooney and Welbeck to operate as defensive wingers with the other playing in behind RVP.

Rooney, Welbeck and Kagawa can keep swapping with each other.

Yeah because you definitely know better than SAF.

This is 100% what I said and implied.

Vidic - Sounds injured
Cleverley should be in for Jones, we never play well withhout him and I think it should be Valencia or Nani.

Wrong for me, but lets see how it goes.

---------De Gea
Rafael-----Ferdinand-----Evans------Evra
-----------------Jones
------------Carrick----Kagawa
Rooney-------------Rvp------------------Welbeck

It's flexible though it could also be

---------De Gea
Rafael-----Ferdinand-----Evans------Evra
------------Carrick---------Jones
Welbeck------------Rooney-----------------Kagawa
----------------------RVP

I expect Jones to wander around wherever Ronaldo is so his position will probably change

Lopez
Ramos
Pepe
?
varane
alonso
khedira
ronaldo
Ozil
benzema

SUBS: Lindegaard, Smalling, Valencia, Anderson, Giggs, Cleverley, Hernández.

Good positional sense and defensive work with Carrick, and Jones can run around and spoil the fun for players like he did to Fellaini on Sunday. Welbeck always works really hard when we're not on the ball, and Rooney and Kagawa certainly don't neglect their duties either. It'll be interesting to see how much the midfield forward is up for some total football today, or whether we'll be conserving our energy for small spurts and hard defensive work.

Welbeck over Nani?! Nani not even on the bench fecking hell.

Lopez
Arbeloa
Ramos
arane
Coentrao
Alonso
Khedira
Di Maria
Ozil
Ronaldo
Benzema

I would never have guessed Jones and Kagawa - that's SAF for ya'. Keep 'em guessing.

Must say I'm a bit disappointed Nani doesn't feature at all. Would have atleast had him on the bench.

No Nani on the bench? fecks sake, he'd have been a great attacking option.

feck off Souness you utter twat, trying to act like Kagawa is the weak link in this side. Absolute twat.

He's inexperienced remember....

Not that he's a double German title champion and the player of the season last year. I thought Souness was meant to be the clever one.

He's got to be injured. Definite loss, hope it isn't serious but am happy to see Evans starting. He deserves it.

He just doesn't play two games in a row nowadays and with the pace of the Madrid attack, Rio Vidic would have been worrying. I think he'll play the QPR and Reading games.
