Real Madrid vs Manchester United

"Rafa would go in a lion's den if you told him"

Loved that line

Can't believe Cleverley not selected. I hope in his absence Kagawa is playing centrally although that means Rooney wide - and in these situations he is often restricted to a defensive role.

The smile on Fergie's face then... Convinced he's coming to United when Fergie goes.

This is the most excited I've seen Fergie in a long long time

Well Jones has the quite obvious flaw of poor passing (especially when playing in midfield) which could seriously harm us against a team such as Madrid especially, so I was wondering why that comment was deserving of a

It was just the blanket statement that "he's a disaster waiting to happen". That's really unfair.

You've put better, so you don't get one. I agree it's somewhat of a risk in a fluid team, but he's there for a reason and he did that job very well against Everton. That's probably why we have little width today.

Blimey, thought Cleverley was a shoe in for the big games these days.
No wingers either.

Huge game for Jones. Can he cut it against this level of opponent out of position? Will he jut be wandering around following Ronaldo step by step? Probably a billion times harder to man mark Ronaldo than Fellaini!

Gonna be a pulse racing game!

WTF was that question?!

Jose as son and Ronnie as grandson.

fecking hell

Vidic: has played only 1 back-to-back games only once since his knee operation (and had an 8-day gap in between). This time: 3 days only.

Fair enough about vidic then. I don't get this decision regarding Cleverley though. He just helps us keep the ball better.

''11 years is a long time to not win the champions league''

we won it in 08, Matt

Lineup: de Gea; Rafael, Rio, Evans, Evra; Jones, Carrick; Welbeck, Kagawa, Rooney; RvP

4-2-3-1 so. I'd prefer if Cleverley got the nod instead of Jones, and Nani ahead of Welbeck, but you can see why Fergie didn't. Jones and Welbeck are among the hardest workers in the squad - along with Rooney and Kagawa - so you can see exactly how we'll be playing tonight. Lots of energy and workrate, and hoping to hit them on the break.

Very excited seeing this line-up.

Our biggest loss tonight will be Cleverley, while he might not the best defensively he would help us keep the ball much better and in the long run that will probably be better.

Valencia, Jones and Rafael need to shut Ronaldo down tonight. But if he get's frustrated there he's just gonna switch wings to terrorise our left. It's gonna be tricky!

Still I like the team. We are just attacking enough. Hopefully we can keep supplying our attackers because they will stretch Real's defence, and they can be the difference.

The positive with Welbeck is he will have plenty of space to attack and when he gets going he is difficult to catch.

Fair enough, I was just wondering if you were one of the "no pessimism or criticism or a players ability" brigade.

And I think he'll do well when we don't have the ball today, though its a big step up from Fellaini to Ronaldo, I just worry that playing him means we won't have the ball as much as we otherwise would.

Racist skysports showing Kagawa while Gangnam style is on.

Hmmm, SAF certainly gave the impression that when Jose comes back to England, he'll be retired.

Anyway, that's for another thread.

Come on UNITED!

Souness dropping the "take RVP's goals out of united and see where they are"

What a muppet.
