Re Benteke I'd have to say no for the same reason he doesn't really fit in at Liverpool. We're not renowned for pumping crosses into the box. Then again I didn't think Vardy would fit in either though that didn't seem to stop Wenger making a bid.

No you've got it wrong. The initial fee is 140m, we're paying 30m to his agent and paying Pogba 100m over the course of 5 years so it comes to 350m overall over 5 years.

What does desperation mean, in this context? If desperation means using the club's financial muscle to sign the best young players, then yeah, I suppose we are a bit desperate. If we didn't sign Pogba, they'd claim it's because we are in decline and not an attraction. There's no winning really.

How is hiring one of the worlds best managers and signing some of the best players desperation? Very strange thing to say.
The ironic thing is that when someone reaches for the desperation argument you know they're desperate to find a reason why it's a bad idea so go for that. Remember a lot of the desperation talk was around when we signed RVP.
Signing quality players like Pogba, Mhikitaryan and Zlatan is desperation, so we should stick to signing no marks like Karius and Klavan instead. Logic.

I can't really understand their logic. If they were to spend 100M on one player, they would have spent their budget and the money from outgoing transfers... if we spend 100M we still have money to spend. So it's not like we can't afford it and blow all money on one player without thinking ahead like a kid in a candy shop with hiw first weekly allowance...
We significally strengthen our starting eleven with one of the best midfielders in the world. Surely it costs a lot... but we can afford it and we still have money to spend. Best of all is that he counts as a homegrown

They could do with spending all their money on one quality player instead of throwing it around on shite every summer. Their squad is the definition of quantity over quality.

Its basically what rival fans tell themselves when they're pissed off that we've signed a world class player. The kind of fans who took the piss out of LVG all season, only to claim we were 'desperate' when we replaced him.
