RAWK Goes into Meltdown 2014/2015 - The "We go again" Edition

And also to be fair they never had a United thread until Fergie left, so they've got some catching up to do. It's not the LVG thread in reality.

I hate all this "you're more obsessed that us" bollocks myself. Both sets of fans are obsessed with football, I know I am, and part of that obsession is enjoying making fun of your bitter rivals. I'll never tire of making fun of Liverpool, and I don't blame the Liverpool fans for doing the same to us. You could even say they deserve a bit of that after 20 years of being shite with us winning everything, the poor cnuts.

Not if I got my hands on the fecker he wouldn't. I'd disemblowel the k*nt. Why oh why are we allowing our pride to be dragged into mediotrity by this plastic yankee cheap marketing shite? We are Liverpool for feckssakes.

The vitriol over that monstrosity really cracks me up, I break into the heartiest of laughs.

I see don't see the problem with the mascot but their reaction towards him/it is fecking hilarious  .. the jist i've got so far is that he's causing them to lose and he looks like Rodgers.

I mean, I think it looks hideous but their reaction to it is well over the top. I'd just ignore its existence and not really care about it beyond passing comment on it to say "that thing is ridiculous"

Half of our supporters hate Rodgers so that's not it.

I'm not entirely sure what it is. I mean, he looks ridiculous, but so does Fred the Red and any others, that is kind of the point.

My theory is that the vitriol is because its a large, bright hard to ignore reminder that liverpool is a commercial enterprise just like the rest of the premier league, and not the rawk romanticized boot room boys coming up over the hill underdogs they want to be. Football at this level is what it is, they should just accept it and ignore the bits they dont like.

I think you nailed it. While their wilderness years have been rough on them, they've contented themselves with the belief that they're not the corporate whores or plastic clubs their rivals are, so it's an especially galling and embarrassing thing to have their angelic faces rubbed in the fact they're no different from the rest in this "brave" new football world. Also, it looks like Brentan.

Their rage is very funny, though. We look at Fred the Red and groan and go "twat!" while they fantasize and even scheme about assassinating Mighty! Ha ha!

Something going on between the captain and the manager?

Manager probably wants to fix up their defensive issues by having a DM that can actually defend...but yes, Gerrard wants to keep playing.

While Stevie Me is being discussed, what's the origin of the starfish nickname?

But this lies at the very heart of what matters interms of our playing strategy. It could well demonstrate that we as a club as an entity didn't know what we were fecking doing. And that kills me given where we were because it also tells me that perhaps we didn't actually understand how or why we'd got to the position we'd actually got to.

Great thread, not just in the schadenfreude sense; some sensible RAWKites in there.

I'd be devastated. The backlash against Rodgers if he allowed Gerrard to leave would be far greater than if he benched him. Don't see it happening though.

Gerrard would know that. Using politics to get himself a good contract because he's bigger than anyone else at the club.

C'mon Barney, surely nobody is bigger than Liverpool football club including Stevie Me.

No, but fans are funny folk, look how some reacted on here when we sold Welbeck and brought in Falcao. The place would literally meltdown if they let Gerrard go.

Even if it's the best thing for Liverpool. Maybe I'm a tad cold in that sense

It won't matter to some, they will want Gerrard to retire at the Club, they will want him to be a one man Club, they will use it as an excuse to batter Rodgers. Personally, I can't wait.

Letting Gerrard go would be moronic. He still has a lot to offer as a player even if it's not as a regular starter and that's without even considering the fact he's a legend at the club.

I agree. He probably doesn't want to sit on the bench though, that is where the issue would be.
