RAWK Goes Into Meltdown | 2013/14

Second greatest? Are you kidding? It went dead for ages while we were shit and they were good, and only got revived after the hilarity of Starfish. The best of the best was 11/12 with Kenny and the t-shirts, Kenny's sacking, the denial about Carroll, and the embarrassment they brought on themselves day after day about Evra.

Yeah, for me it is. The Gerrard slip and subsequent implosion was the funniest RAWK meltdown moment in history, imo. I still think 08/09 will never be topped, mainly due to their match-day threads (the Spurs and Villa games in particular) of our games, pure comedy!!

Granted, 11/12, was great I'll give you that. I didn't really enjoy the Evra/Suarez fall-out though. I found it disturbing and upsetting more than anything. The T-shirts and Kenny's meltdowns though, were fantastic.

Yeah the Evra thing annoyed me because Suarez was so clearly lying and Pat was getting such horrible abuse and slander being made up about him, flat out lies being written by Scouse journalistic mouthpieces like that fat feck Kristian Walsh.

Kenny though, God, Kenny was gold.

Jesus Christ spoiler that shit

Amazing that after such a quiet season for this thread it's finishing off in such epic style. First we had Slippy G, quickly followed up with the title bottle job and now this wonderfully absurd Suarez episode. Possibly the second greatest RAWK meltdown season ever, after 08/09.
Surely the slip up last season was the best meltdown!

Well I suppose we'll only be able to judge this properly in a few years time, after the dust has settled on all these epic meltdowns. I just loved 08/09 so much though, I think the combination of them being in their first title challenge in years and it being against us, and losing, is what made it so special. Too many classic threads to mention, but the 'I'm sorry, Mister Ferguson' one, would probably be my favourite, closely followed by our match-day thread for the Macheda game.

Photoshop/Paint fans: enjoy ~

Suarez not even allowed inside a stadium or to train for 4 months.

Sounds unenforceable to me.

How is it unenforceable, quite easy I would say, he is not to go to any ground for 4 months.

I agree with the training part. Unless Fifa are going to have someone patrolling Liverpool's training ground for 4 months, then I think he could show up for indoor training.

I wonder if Chiellini will be booed if Liverpool faces Juventus in the CL?

Indeed, watching your rival suffer in defeat is a joy. This place had some particularly rare moments last season with Moyes.

They don't own football, they can perhaps ban him from Fifa licenced arenas but even then its pretty hazy.

Suarez Bite

RAWK : He's an idiot, ban him, I hope the FIFA ban him for 2 years, it'll raise his value due to not having to play international football
RAWK MOD: this has got nothing to do with Liverpool
RAWK 2: Meh.. don't care, international stage and all. He'll come back fresh
RAWK 3: He's a genious, now he can have an early rest and propel us to glory
RAWK 4: He deserves the ban, ban him, and let him get on with club football

FIFA : 4 mths global bans

RAWK: Internet terrorism, t-shirt campaign, appeal, WTF, media witch hunt, digging up Cantona, Rio.

fecking hypocrites. It's only unfair if it happens to them

Come on Shane, we all know what it meant.

He can't train and play with Liverpool. I'm sure a rational head knows he can still play FM and FIFA and get a kick or two at the park, just nothing at officially FIFA registered facilities

One last thing... A six year old would understand perfectly well about a nibble on the shoulder. What they would find disturbing is an elbow to the throat, kicking someone in the head or snapping someone's leg with a two footed challenge. None of which would result in a four month ban...

feck me, I fear for their children

These lot were only happy for him to be banned because they thought it wouldnt effect them. They have now changed their stance since it does effect them. I play football with these numpties, who by the way claim to know nothing about RAWK, yet show all the same reasoning. They do not care that he bit anyone, in their words "we couldnt care how many people he bit, its unfair to punish Liverpool". It is now everyone is against them and we all only wanted him banned so United can beat them. Oh and United need 3-4 more players to be anywhere near them so dont get too excited about signed to nobody players! haha

How does that chant go again?

Not sure whats so bad about this. He's a good player, but I think we're all agreed he's not world class
He will be world class

Liverpool don't have a world class midfielder and neither do any of their midfielders have the potential to be World Class.

I keep finding some gems there

RAWK poster 245678 :

One day there'll be a statue outside Anfield of Suarez biting an opponent. A bit like that one outside the French national stadium of Zidane head-butting the other Italian.

It's hard to know what to think about Tooth-gate. Those people in outright denial that it even happened (a few Reds, all of Uruguay) are clearly a bit mad themselves. Those talking about it as if it's up there with the Armenian genocide as an international atrocity are even madder. I think I read somewhere that Danny Mills believes Luis should be banned from football for ever. The hypocrisy on all sides is breathtaking. Including mine. If it was Rooney who'd done the biting I'd probably be speaking like Danny Mills. So would you. We're all opportunists at heart.

In truth my first reaction was to laugh. Then I thought about it for a bit and laughed again. Then I felt relieved that he wasn't a wearing a Liverpool shirt when it happened. My main concern now is that our club isn't punished for his crime. I couldn't care a damn if Luis misses the rest of the World Cup but what happened in international football should stay in international football.

The bloke's clearly fecking mad of course - at least when he gets on a footy pitch. We all knew that anyway. It's what makes him dangerous, in both senses of the word. I think he probably does need help, although as a Liverpool fan you'd have to fear a little bit that therapy might also tamper with his genius. A gum-shield might be a better idea. It'd be a little bit humiliating at first (like Pennant's ankle tag) but Luis would probably turn it into a status symbol of some kind after a few outings (think of the potential for new goal celebrations). And a gum-shield would allow defenders to concentrate on the game rather than play in fear of the roving incisor.

Then again, should defenders be totally free of this fear? Here's the hypocrisy again. I sort of think some defenders should be bitten. I especially think Chiellini should be bitten. Anyone who saw the rest of the Uruguay-Italy game will know what I mean (or anyone who knows anything about Italian football, period). The constant kicking at opponents, the feigning of injury when it was in the Italian interest to waste time, the repetitive clutching at his head in order to get an opponent sent off, and even the little dig he gave Luis less than 30 seconds before he got his comeuppance.

Pirlo too was a candidate for a revenge bite. At one point this fraud turned round and gave Suarez a fearful blow with his elbow. The Ref didn't spot it. Commentators did - on the channel I was watching at least - and called it an 'accident'. Pirlo is seen as some kind of Olympian on the field you see. Hypocrisy again. In a way, when you think about it, it's no accident that Italians were on the receiving end of both Zidane and Suarez's 'interventions'. As a football nation they've probably elevated gamesmanship and cheating to the highest level over the years. Except Borini of course. Oh, and Aquilani when he was at Liverpool.

Someone made the good point earlier that Luis knows he's done wrong. I bet the regret began to sink in at the same time as the teeth. In fact he was so confused and upset by what he'd done that he started clutching his teeth as soon as he did it. It was almost as if he were saying to FIFA, "Please help me. Take these teeth out. They're not mine!" Then of course he cut a disconsolate figure as he left the pitch. He knew what he'd done and he was frightened and ashamed.

I think he's probably got it out of his system now. I always thought he had three bites in him, not just the two. So did a Norwegian fella, according to the Beeb, who just took the bookies to the cleaners with a crafty punt on a Suarez World Cup bite. Well done that man! But though the last Suarez bite was a big one but this is bigger. The globe watched it. It won't go away. The saddest thing for Luis, I think, is that despite the fact that he's done some incredible things on the footy field and will go on to do much more, he'll always be known now as the footballer who bites. Who cares, right? So long as he wins us the League? Well, I'm sure he will. But that's his look out.

How is what you've posted there any different to what the RAWKite said, just roles reversed?

Is this one of those rare occasions that blackface is appropriate Sharky?

No it isn't Other Sharky, no it isn't.

Also I'm loving this "Liverpool are being punished for something he did elsewhere" logic.

If Suarez tried to rob a bank tomorrow (which, you know, he does have a clear schedule now is all I'm saying) and he got caught and chucked in the slammer would that also be unfairly punishing Liverpool for something he did elsewhere?

Not saying they have a point but someone asked what punishment Suarez would get if it had happened in the French league?

Over there they use a system of suspensions based on how long the injured party is out for, so if I broke your leg I'd be suspended until you recover. I'd imagine Chiellini could play again tomorrow if he wanted.
