Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers complained referee Mark Halsey cost his side the game after their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United.

The Liverpool manager was unhappy with Halsey's decision to dismiss Jonjo Shelvey as well as the award of the penalty that Robin van Persie converted in the 81st minute, saying Luis Suarez should also have been given a spot kick.

And Rodgers felt both sides could have been down to ten men before half-time when Jonny Evans escaped unpunished from the challenge that resulted in Shelvey's departure.

"Decisions didn't go our way today. If Jonjo Shelvey gets sent off, Jonny Evans has to get sent off as well," Rodgers said. "It is a tackle the player has to go for and also one the Manchester United player has to go for. But the Liverpool player can't get sent off and the Manchester United player stay on the field. There were a number of poor decisions."

United's penalty came when Antonio Valencia went clear from the half-way line and tumbled under a challente from Glen Johnson.

"It was never a penalty," Rodgers added. "Glen Johnson has made a fantastic recovery run back in and I don't know why Valencia goes down. Up the other end, Luis Suarez gets the contact [from Evans], goes down and doesn't get a penalty."

Liverpool lost Fabio Borini and Daniel Agger to injuries and Rodgers added: "Fabio had a badly swollen ankle that he was struggling to put any force on. We have to wait and see about Daniel Agger. It didn't look too good with his knee. Some of the medics were saying he might have a problem with his medial ligament."

Rogers must have an account at RAWK

 Good to see Rodgers didn't take long to turn into Rafa with all his excuses!

Sent from Pot in the newbies:

Jonjo Shelvey of Charlton Athletic pleads with referee Lee Probert for a penalty to be given for a foul on Zheng Zhi but it was not given.

I edited your name in to give you your 15 minutes of fame, Pot. Enjoy these moments, brag about them amongst your peers. This is your time. For this day and this day alone, until your promotion, you have made it.

I think the Africans cursed Suarez and any team he plays for. Thats the only explanation I have to why absolutely EVERYTHING goes against us. We dominate, we play amazing football and yet every decision goes against us!! feckin fuming right now. Halsey owes me a new PS3 controller!!!

:lol::lol:'

I hope to God some fans investigate and try to actually blame it on a witch doctor. Please!

...This guy is on to something I think. Once you've eliminated the impossible, et cetera.

In conclusion, "Aliens." I mean "Witch Doctors."

Had just drafted a reply consisting entirely of the o rly owl, 'til I remembered the new rule..

Liverpool fan are having a proper meltdown over here

Conspiracy theories all around. TBF they were unlucky.

Did not expect anything else, nothing to do with them being a shite team 3rd bottom of the PL.
SAF has bribed the whole of the FA AND every Ref, just so that Liverpool look bad , FFS they have not won a single game yet this season has every manager bought the ref.
They blame everybody but themselves and there useless team of nobody's.

Time that RAWK realised that they have a very mid table team and stop living of there past glory.

Conspiracy!!! The league is fixed!!!

The thing is Shelvey having a go at Fergie for his sending off shows that the conspiracy theorists are not just the fans. It seems ingrained within their club that Fergie controls everything and The FA etc. have it in for them.

Its fecking hilarious.

why is nothing more being made of this, if it was a United player it would be headline news on Sky Sports every 10 mins.

Tbh their start of the season has been tough with matches against Man City,Man United and Arsenal. At the same time they were all home matches so the return legs might even get worse for them :D

I love it, the more they blame SAF the less they own their problems, the less likely they are to solve them!

2012 Liverpool in the league. P24 W5 D5 L14.

I don't think this is going to be their season either :D

Possibly 14 points off the top if they lose next week against Norwich. Can't remember worse start for the dippers since long time.

That's because it's their worst start since 1911-12, in which they lost all five of their opening matches. I'd be a little surprised if you did remember a worse start than this current one!

Its not just the start of this season.

If their form since January was in a single season, they would be relegated.

Beyond ridiculous now. Every fecking game decisions go against us. We get absolutely feck all while the other team gets everything. And Man Utd just get everything vs everyone.

Something needs to be done about this, it's gone on for too long.

Let's just talk about the decisions today -

Shelvey shouldn't have got sent off, it was one footed, second leg came trailed on the followup, always going to happen, impossible to keep the other leg away
Evans and RvP should have got sent off for sure, especially if Shelvey's was a red card
Evra should have been booked/red carded for a nasty challenge on Sterling (possibly in the box)
Scholes also made a bad challenge on Sterling in the box, should be a red as it was just as bad as Shelvey's, then again it would have been a penalty for us
Suarez should have got a penalty against Evans, just before Scholes' challenge
Valencia was never a penalty, clear dive yet it was given (nothing from the commentator, if that was Suarez definite dive)
And every 50/50 went in their favour
..

I can't believe it. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed they had an ounce of common decency between them and rubbished the idea they would do this given the last two weeks' events.

Also, minority my arse. It is literally every single one of them singing it.

I thought they would uncharacteristically show some respect at least for today. I was wrong, and I am more saddened then I am angry

..

On John Terry's retirement:

under his captaincy and long career for England we've progressed less than a tortoise with a broken leg tied to a Californian Redwood tree

:lol:A rare bit of scouse humour that I actually enjoyed.

They really must have loved the analysis and vids showing Halsey got the decisions right.

Bit surprised no-one in the media has mentioned that surely Shelvey had been given a strong warning after a probable yellow-card lunge into Rafael (iirc) earlier in the game - something that could have well influenced the ref's opinion on his later challenge.

Blimey...

Dear LADS, Dear Scousers, DEAREST LIVERPOOL....
The way we strive for justice and truth for 96 and all we have done tirelessly until today gives me a reason to stress....
LET'S START ANOTHER FIGHT....
IT IS ENOUGH!!!
FIGHT FA.... FIGHT FA.....FIGHT FA!!!!

Please, forgive me, but this is the feckin saddest defeat for me cause I just realized my gray beard can not stand it any more...IT IS feckIN ENOUGH!!!
Just look back, googling, try to find, there is plenty there of all the FA scums/referees did against our LIVERPOOL FC in (let's say) last few years!!!!

Post some links just to prove that I'm not going mad? (for my psychiatrist)

Also...Funniest Thread Title of the Week:

'Andre Wisdom - Colossus of the future at LFC?'

And finally, an open letter to the Anfield Cat (not entirely serious...I think):

These are desperate times with luck and injuries and whimsical red cards against us. Let's all have a go...feed the furry stray bastards, and see if it can push on a change for the better.
