RAWK Goes Into Meltdown (2011/2012)

There's something called 'bias' afflicting you. I agree the Chelsea things were worse than tonight, but you're deluded if you think it wouldn't have been mentioned.

How is there? You've confused yourself. You say Evans should've walked despite agreeing it would've been soft, you then say the other way round and we'd be crying, I say only cretins would and you compare it to the Chelsea decisions before admitting they were worse. I didn't think it was possible to make such a fool of one's self but hats off sir.

 You are something else. The definition of a 'London United Fan', if I may say so. You've lived a whole life of thinking people are against you and you go massively on the defensive whenever anyone doesn't agree with you. Get a grip.

What's a London United fan?

"Hello, I'm Al, I just post to be contrary and attention seek. Everyone look at me, I'm being controversial."

Melon.

 oh alastair. You don't help yourself.

How? It's got all the hallmarks of - Arsenal turn up and give it an incredible go, and end up winning against the odds. See Adebayor's winner a few years back.

Or - United show up Arsenal's weak team, which is missing both DMs, one CB, and one forward, and win comfortably, as expected. I can't see a tight 0-0, or 1-0.

The one thing I just don't get is not seeing the potential in Welbeck.

Everyone who's played football could see that this lad is going to be huge the moment he entered that OT pitch aged 17 and smacked the ball into the top corner vs Stoke, from 30 yards out.

"For the first time Welbeck has looked above Sunderland-level.."

You've said many stupid things tonight al, but that's just horrendously bad even for your form.

Can we rename this thread 'Alastair goes into meltdown'?

Al, I like you but you really do tie yourself up sometimes!

Do you read any forums except United ones? Literally no-one has rated Welbeck as a top talent for a long time. People need to stop reading the Caf as the only forum which has sensible view points, and accept not everyone sees football in exactly the same way.

You have to admit Al, you're being pretty pathetic tonight.

You mention something that you know yourself is bullshit.

Then when people pull you up for it, you justify yourself by saying that if the roles were reversed one of our members would have brought it up.

That is sad way to justify yourself, whatever way you look at it.

So I pull you up for it, and you launch into a pathetic tirade about London United fans?

Stop embarrassing yourself.

Al.... go and watch the TV or something. You do this every time but you're shite at it.... Whereas people like Davo (RIP) used to be able to get under our skin with a bit of wit & nous, you're just a bit irritating, blinkered and clueless...

What is this something?

I know in your next post you won't mention what it actually is.

I reckon Pete and co find him cringeworthy and all.

Al never gives United credit, unless it is non-avoidable.

 Nice sneaking in the excuses there ;)

Btw, I'd have thought you'd be happy to see the bitter rivals of the team you support lose that badly and help your chances of winning the north london league position trophy?

I don't think Al's said anything particularly controversial to be honest...We were quite ordinary for 50-55 odd minutes and Spurs were pretty shite. He is giving us credit for playing brilliantly for the last half hour, I'm not so sure what the fuss is all about.

It's bollocks, but quite how Spurs contrived to lose 3-0 against a side whose goalkeeper is a tad shaky, who are playing with 2 centre-halves who have never played with each other before, whilst also playing unproven players in Cleverley and Welbeck is beyond me. United were good tonight, remarkably so given the injuries, but christ almighty Spurs were bad.

I think you are looking for the bad but missing the good. Yes, Spurs weren't at their best today. Defensively they were excellent, for most of the game, in the second half it wasn't so much that they gave up, but our movement, pressure, and increased intensity was too much for them to deal with as in the first half. They were not as potent up front, but even in the first half they were had over 10 chances, they were not clear cut attempts, and nothing to really test us. Again, they had chances but were confined to shooting from distance because they couldn't break us down. What you saw wasn't a case of Spurs being too bad to make something of the game, but a fantastic performance throughout the team, especially the younger prospects, with the core being the defence throughout the match.

Explains a lot then if you form your opinions of football based on forums, and not actually by watching football.

I think it's related to the fact he says things like Evans should've been sent off even though he knew he would be soft and then compares it to decisions we had against Chelsea last season despite knowing they were worse. The bitterness is dripping out of him.

Go and read Sunderland's forums then. Here's one thread I'll link you to
Danny Welbeck - RTG Sunderland Message Boards

People who've watched Welbeck play regularly know that he's a great talent.

When we turned the tempo up two notches, City were decimated as well against almost an identical United-team.

I just don't think there'll be many sides that will withstand that sort of pressure. In the second half, you could almost feel Spurs knowing they weren't going to resist for much longer. We could have had 5 or 6 in that period between our first and second goal.

I don't particularly look for the bad with United, I just almost expected a little bit more from Spurs.

I thought Spurs did what they usually do defensively - they look very good on an individual level, but as a unit, they tend to struggle a bit. Few sides could have prevented the second goal, but perhaps they could have done more on the first one?

United defensively were as good as I've seen them recently - it's getting to the point now where missing Ferdinand and Vidic doesn't seem to be an issue at all. Evra still looks a bit shaky though at times. Don't really know what's gone on with him recently.

At the end of the day, the result, in my view, was caused by United's fantastic attacking display in the second half, with an excellent defensive display throughout(which peaked in the first half for me), but perhaps Spurs could have done more in an attacking sense apart from shooting from 40 yards expecting a miracle.

Someone in this thread said this. Guess who?

Don't moderate yourself al, United were actually not all that for a half.

However, Evans was never gonna be sent off for that(the first wasn't a booking unless every single foul in a football match is, and the second would have been a harsh yellow) and Welbeck is a star in the making. You know it al-boy, come on. Give it to me. :D

I said this all along. I've never on this forum under-estimated anything United have done, and it really irritates me when you get the same old suspects jumping on every post to try and make it look as if I'm doing United a great disservice.

The first yellow was harsh, but it was given. The second foul was worse than the first, so strange the ref didn't send him off as a result. Would have been harsh in my book too. I'll still need ten games for Welbeck.
