RAWK Goes Into Meltdown (2011/2012)

Suarez lifting two trophies for us, Evra losing out on the league title and Terry missing the Champions League Final and losing the FA Cup Final would be a small justice in the whole mess
I simply can't get over this idea of justice by football results which originally reared its head when they knocked us out of the FA Cup. It's like that witch scene from Monty Python -- 'She weighs more than a duck!' or however it went.

And why the animosity towards Terry? Thought they would take him under their wing as a fellow victim along with poor, put-upon Suarez.

I love how they can't bring themselves to say Rio's name. "Anton and Anton's brother", ha ha.

Waltraute, they exhibit collective magical thinking. They really do see this as some vast epic between good and evil, so when these results go in some pleasing way for them, it's the Elder Football Gods that have intervened to counteract Lord Ferg and his evil alliance with the FA and the media.

Hence all that onwards and upwards rhetoric. Once more unto the breach, red men. Cry havoc and release the dogs of war. Etcetera. A worried part of me thinks they mean it all literally. That they actually believe for real that organized professional football is some kind of theatre for a titanic struggle between, on the one hand, the factions of justice and all that is good and, on the other, the forces of actual Satanic evil.

On a related note, it always cracks me up when they refer to Old Trafford as Castle Grayskull... since that was where the hero lived. Even their overblown analogies fail miserably.

Agreed.

Meanwhile, at Anfield...

Agree completely, Van and Irwin -- and their simply bottomless silliness regarding their self-image as Holy Defenders of the True Football Faith is probably my favourite genre of humour (alongside Benitez hagiographies).

But you'd imagine actual, serious issues like racism would calm them down a bit. Obviously not.

Love the failtastic Grayskull references too.

Hey kettle, your black, from pot.

On the news that a Chelsea fan got a ban for racially abusing Drogba:
Evra claiming that he was 'yet again' racially abused only for the jury to find he bluffed bringing on a disgrace on himself and the club would be justified. The same goes to terry.

But again, Karma is a bitch.

Whyyyyy, they continue to get this wrong. On a daily basis there is one dumpo Liverpool fan who get's this wrong. Then bases his entire opinion on the saga on this completely wrong fact. it's infuriating!!

LFC - Playing the victim card because we're shit at football!

We know what you are. We know what youaaare
Shite at football
We know what you are.

This was the comparison between the united and liverpool thst was posted in thier 'The league title - how far away are we?' thread

vidic just better then agger?:lol::lol: vida's one of the top 2 or 3 defenders in the world, i wouldnt even rate agger as being one of the top 2-3 in the city of liverpool, im begining to think the whole forum over there is some full scale wind up by the best comedy writers the world has ever seen, theres no way they're real people!

Suarez vs Welbeck..............easily Suarez

We arent far off, I stick by if we were to go out in the summer and bring in three quality players we could challenge. Peope say oh we cannot attract them, well I think we can. Huntelaar is getable, and he would help us hugely, Martinez or M'Villa is getable, they would help us hugely, Belhanda or someone of his ilk is getable and would massively improve us. If the owners back KK with 40M and sales this summer, and Kenny spends it reasonaby well, we can go next season. Maybe not win it, but without double atleast be comfortable in top 4.

Love the notion that they could just 'snap up Belhanda' when Montpellier will more than likely be playing Champions League football.

Most posters on the Caf think we have no chance when it comes to top talent, like Hazard, M'Vila or Martinez. Why the feck do they think Martinez, M'Vila or Belhanda want to go there? "Getable"? On what planet do they live on? Clowns.

Well in fairness, he did say Rooney was better than Gerrard. Usually RAWKites think Gerrard is the greatest player to ever play for them, which is laughworthy seeing as how he isn't even the best midfielder to play for them (Souness is)

Newcastle got Cabaye despite Lille being the champions and being in the CL.
There is a lot more money in the premier league.

And they think Martinez is 'getable' for them? Or M'Vila? Their transfer forum must be fun :p

It's like when they continuously talk about how they should have just bought Mata and Huntelaar instead of Downing and Carroll. Like it would have been just that easy.

Last year they might have been able to. This year they are in trouble because its the second year in a row they've missed out on Europe. How will they manage to persuade the top players to come?

Their owner has to stump up alot more money for exhorbitant wages, which is looking unlikely what with the club making major losses. These losses likely won't abate much in the next financial year because again, they aren't getting that CL money anymore.

I honestly think that they need to actually do some scouting and identify players that they can develop over a few years. There is no point targeting the best players because they just won't choose the dippers over all the other clubs that are far more attractive.

I wonder how long before FSG realize that the club is a massive black hole that unless they pump massive cash into, will retreat further and further down the league to the point they'll be in relegation battles.

It's really like they think, Manchester United are big and successful and we want to be a part of that, without realizing that the club is worth an estimated 2 billion for a reason.

It really baffles me that during their successful years, nobody at LFC thought about long term planning for the club. You'd think with the massive push of globalisation in the 80's they might have actually thought about it.

Apparently this Swiss Ramble guy isn't too happy:

Nothing I like more than spending hours researching & writing a post - and then some wanker copies the entire thing onto a forum. Cheers.

And they appear to have deleted the thread.

Not exactly a meltdown post, but an interesting look at Liverpool's finances.

Which leads to lots of doom and gloom

Wow!!

Liverpool have a long long way to go to be financial competitive. They have a valuable brand and a stabile fan base but that's more or less it. I read the whole article and if I was a Pool Supporter I should be worried. (and now I going to text message three old friends with some nice quotes )

It's my go-to site to understand finances in football. I hope people that refer to his info provide links, SwissR does goes great work.

Liverpool will obviously receive nothing this season from Europe, compared to an average of £31 million for the English sides – lower than last year, as most did not progress as far. A similar sum will go begging after missing out on qualification for next season’s Champions League, giving a total of £86 million in lost revenue.

Long may it continue

Who are they blaming the crash on the M40 on?

I just turned tv over to ESPN, it's like some kind of Liverpool love in, cringe cringe cringe
