RAWK Goes Into Meltdown (2011/2012)

One of them has written an open letter to the media. Another boring victim whingefest about how everyone is out to get Suarez, Dalglish and LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB. It has been greeted, as is their way, with "great post, mate!", "I was thinking the exact same thing!", "post this on twitter" and "Evra is a cnut!" (probably)

C & P anyone?

Get a load of this:

People with power has used racism/anti-racism as a political tool since old Lincoln's days, but this 'he racially abused me!!' hysteria shouldn't even be an issue today, imo. Or, like a black friend of me put it: "People call me nigger all the time. But that's ok, because I am a nigger."

It's a media myth that black people are, apparently, always playing the race card; a convenient myth, and a get-out for those who lack empathy with other people.

That holocaust hysteria shouldn't really be an issue imo

Yep. As a Jewish friend of me put it: "Governments try to murder me and my family all the time. But that's ok, because we'll probably end up dead sometime anyway."

Yeah, I was talking to a lad from RAWK the other night and apparently the holocaust never happened. Nor did the moon landings. Nor did 9/11. Nor did the little baby Jesus being born away in a manger.

It's almost like they ask every question with fear now. Nice one KK.

Kenny's anthem, Flower Of Scotland

Oh Kenny Dalglish,
when will we see,
your like again,
you played with pride for,
the team that play in red,
the King of Anfield (DALGLISH!),
and his red army,
are marching onwards,
to win again

For 'Kenny Dalglish Day'. This is the most fecked up thing, as a Scotsman, to see the words 'That fought and died for, your wee bit hill and glen' swapped with 'You played with pride for, the team that play in red'. It's like watching a scouser shit on Donald Dewar's face.

The team that play in red?? How fecking lazy is that. "Right, it's an emotional song. We love this man and we love the club... so we need to describe the club... something about the club... Liverpool. Hmm. They play in red. Okay! Next line.".

Also in thread they talk about it sending chills down the spine, and likely to have an impact on Premier League opponents.. yes it does have that effect when 'Flower of Scotland' is sung because it has some fecking meaning and emotional connection to the occasion and the crowd of people singing it in unison. You can't change the words and expect them to resonate to anywhere near the same degree, anyone who has experienced a night at Hampden will know that this is going to sound retarded.

Jesus feckING Christ this has to be a WUM.

I refuse to believe that someone has typed that seriously.

He would have been at home in a manger if it hadn't been for the FA using heated balls in the draw.

 x 1000

And I simply refuse to believe that the "People with power has used racism..." post is anything but a massive WUM/really black humour. I'm probably retreating to my faerie grotto here, but I have to be able to get out of bed in the morning.
"She laughs and stays in the won-won-won-wonderful..."

Over on RAWK they're not only abusing poor Flower of Scotland (they're even contemplating "a potential second verse containing "And stood against him - ENGLAND""), but also Sir Walter Scott. I have no words.

WHEN YOU PATRICE TO DECEIVE
New Banner Ideas

A few of them like this

RESPECT

96 and 23

Hillsborough and Munich

Rest In Peace

The cynic in me gets the impression it's just to salvage a bit of credibility after recent events, though.

I´m a cynic, but you can´t deny it would classy (as well as fantastic PR).

Please, let's leave Munich and Hillsborough out of this.

If you read the thread (New Banner Ideas) you'll see that several RAWKites think it's a bad idea too, along the same lines voiced here.

Personally I see it as a naïve and misguided attempt to extend an olive branch through drawing attention to issues above tribalism and rivalry. I just can not see it as any form of PR excercise, as it would then cheapen Hillsborough as much as Munich, and no Scouser, however myopic or fanatical, would ever do that.

Good intentions, bad idea. Let it go.

I'm not that bothered about any perceived cynicism - anything that helps people to see the bigger picture is ok by me, whether it's banners about our respective dead or training camps in Africa; these things are much more positive than petty hate and selfishness.

United & Liverpool are NEVER going to get along nicely. And we shouldn't either. The rivalry is brilliant (rivalry, not violence) and the day we become 'pals' is the day the game is dead.

What about the 39 at Heysel?
Is this really necessary?

As far as I know this is a light-hearted pisstake thread about a certain bunch of idiots over at RAWK, and in that spirit --

The Re-evaluation of The League Cup!
Now they're within sniffing distance of the League Cup final it's important to make sure everyone know this is a really important trophy, and that any sort of debasement is stricly down to -- you know it! -- Manchester United & Sir Alex.

The league cup was always taken seriously up untill some time in the mid 90s when man utd got beat by some shite team. Mr Alex Ferguson then game out with crap about how he wasnt arsed , was just testing the youngsters, etc. Everyone swallowed it and followed suit.

Up untill the mid 90s the league cup was a cup everyone cared about and wanted to win.

Silverware Snobbery and Humble Pie

(To be on the safe side, I have to say I hate any kind of disregard for any cup. I detest all the 'Mickey Mouse trophy' bollocks.)

I think every cup is as important as any other because they all add to our history.

Anyone who has objections to a Munich/Hillsborough banner is just being petty and mean spirited. The game would be being played close to the anniversary and it would be a very nice gensture. If there's cynicism behind the motivation of it, meh, I agree with Steve, it's better to be done, for whatever reason, than not, or indeed decried by people who didn't do it for the sake of one upmanship. (or even worse, belief that there's no place for respect within the rivalry)

I understand if some feel it's a cheap attempt to piggyback their way out of bother, but a) what does it matter as long as the message is positive and b) surely refusing to accept the gesture because of your tribal dislike of a rival club is a similar, if not sillier attitude?

You get the same from people who get worked up by celebrities doing charity for supposedly promotional or personal reasons. So what? They're doing it. Are you doing it? Are you raising awareness or even close to the amount of money they are? No, you're sitting at home in your pants finding ways to undervalue other peoples deeds. I'd rather people did good things for bad reasons than do nothing and bitch about other people's attempts.

Whilst you have a point, any banner would be a good will gesture and it should be important that some good will actually underpins it. Charitqble giving is a more practical and quantifiable thing so it's more acceptable to not believe in the cause yet still donate.

I see it as a similar thing. People will see a banner like that, and equate it with a classy, good will gesture. It would encourage younger, impressionable fans that being partisan feckwits when it comes to serious matters isn't the right, or cool way of fandom. And anyone deciding to sing "murderers" or do airplane imitations will look twice the pillock next to it.
