RAWK Goes Into Meltdown (2011/2012)

Anyone who has objections to a Munich/Hillsborough banner is just being petty and mean spirited. The game would be being played close to the anniversary and it would be a very nice gensture. If there's cynicism behind the motivation of it, meh, I agree with Steve, it's better to be done, for whatever reason, than not, or indeed decried by people who didn't do it for the sake of one upmanship. (or even worse, belief that there's no place for respect within the rivalry)

I understand if some feel it's a cheap attempt to piggyback their way out of bother, but a) what does it matter as long as the message is positive and b) surely refusing to accept the gesture because of your tribal dislike of a rival club is a similar, if not sillier attitude?

You get the same from people who get worked up by celebrities doing charity for supposedly promotional or personal reasons. So what? They're doing it. Are you doing it? Are you raising awareness or even close to the amount of money they are? No, you're sitting at home in your pants finding ways to undervalue other peoples deeds. I'd rather people did good things for bad reasons than do nothing and bitch about other people's attempts.

I don't think any of us have annoyances towards the sentiments of this banner , it's wondering how many of their fans actually believe it

I have mixed feelings about the banner.
Part of me thinks , yes a good idea and a nice gesture , but there is also a part of me that thinks , the Liverpool fans are only doing it after the racism storm that has hit them and they want to deflect from it.
I can understand them wanting to that but not sure if this is the right way to do it.

My gut reaction is 'feck em'. There are too many of the scouse shite that still refer to Munich in a derogatory, disparaging, offensive and insulting manner. Just the other day I saw some scouse muppet on facebook refer to us as 'those munich cnuts' even after hillsborough, they just don't learn or more likely don't understand. It would be a good thought that we could be united in tragedy, but as some others have already said, they would just be using it to deflect from the trouble they have gotten themselves into. They have a long long way to go and a lot of bridges to build before we can even consider them to be sincere on this matter, especially considering how the entire lfc club have conducted themselves over the seedy suarez incident.

I see it as a similar thing. People will see a banner like that, and equate it with a classy, good will gesture. It would encourage younger, impressionable fans that being partisan feckwits when it comes to serious matters isn't the right, or cool way of fandom. And anyone deciding to sing "murderers" or do airplane imitations will look twice the pillock next to it.

"Murderers" and "without killing anyone" are our unclassiest chants. I wonder how many of the people that sing that actually know why they sing it and who it's actually aimed at.

The person you mention is of the minority. The gesture seems credible when tensions are so high at the moment between both clubs.

The problem we have is most people have recognised that, the way Liverpool have handled the case wasn't in the best interest for anyone but themselves. Now we have a situation where we either ignore any attempt of peace making (even if it is as small as a simple banner) or we try to be a bit more sensible than our rivals and listen.

We're not obliged to do anything I know, but does this rivalry need more ammunition? I'd say the opposite is required.

If we don't do anything then where/when do we draw the line on this issue? Will united fans start branding Danny Murphy a racist?

Just out of interest Ferguson asked fans to stop calling Wenger a paedophile. Has anything similar been requested from Ferguson about some of the Hillsborough/Heysel stuff?

I saw that banner being suggested on RAWK before the game at Anfield. So it was before the whole Suarez thing.

In specific it was an answer to the call by both managers to stop the vile chanting before that game.

You can't question the motives there.

Whatever their deepest intentions, as you say the gesture is good. And it's always a bad idea to use someone's generosity as a stick to beat them with.

Rivalry is fine but this is starting to get a bit nasty.

Agreed. Both sides need to tone down the rhetoric and stop bringing everything back to the Evra-Suarez incident.

That's surely something everyone can negrito.

you never fail to deliver.....

"...everyone can negrito" Oh feck... coffee all over my monitor... which is weird as I was drinking tea.

But yeah, I'd say take the olive branch. It's all about public displays right now, even though deep down I and many others lost a massive amount of respect for LFC as a club and Dalglish as a man. It's like when you're on the pitch and you're still seething and someone says "shake hands, lads" and you do it... because most times you'd look a prick if you didn't.

Tensions from United? Think you'll find the tensions are currently coming from one source.

I saw this prematch

Reina - best keeper in the league, three golden gloves.
Skrtel - best defender in the league.
Carra - best defender in the league over the past seven years.
Coates - best young prospect, young player of the Copa America.
Johnson - England's no.1 right back.
Enrique - best left back in the league.

"The totally unsurprising summary is that Carroll is shite, Adam is shite, Downing is shite, the tactics are shamefully shite, and after spending countless millions we look in dire need of another rebuild."

[ How do you quote ]

OTP - classic find... allow me respond...

Reina - best keeper in the league, three golden gloves. Past his best. Krul is better at the moment.
Skrtel - best defender in the league. Seriously? Ever heard of Kompany? Vidic? Terry?
Carra - best defender in the league over the past seven years. WTF? Rio? Vidic? Terry?
Coates - best young prospect, young player of the Copa America. Best young prospect compared to what, an apple? An imported lamp?
Johnson - England's no.1 right back. Rather have Richards which isn't saying much.
Enrique - best left back in the league. Now this guy is class.

Well, their defense deserves a bit of credit, I have to say I'm amazed that Carragher can still play at all. Yes, he gets away with tons of fouls, but even then, he's lost so much pace I'm impressed he can even slink by with his bag of dirty tricks!

How was Charlie Adam?

Kenny Dalglish - what the feck was you thinking when you picked this team, formation and tactics?

It was fecking Stoke City, not Barcelona at the nou camp, why start with some random 5-3-1-1 formation or whatever it was, why did you change the team SO much, and why did you play SO defensively, also why do you persist with Downing when everytime he plays he doesn't do shit, and why do you persist on leaving Maxi on the bench, why did you play Kuyt upfront on his own - a man who ain't scored in the league ALL SEASON, why, feck sake yes the players were utter shite today and they take a lot of the blame today, but you cannot fail to criticize Kenny for the way he set us up and had us playing today, that was utter shite and now we are 5 points off 4th, could be 7th by Monday, and have the likes of Stoke breathing down our necks in the league.

Absolutely fecking gutted.

I miss Rafa.

More intention and drive than the other midfielders. May have been their MOM along with Johnson

Can atleast not say that our squad is good enough and we dont have to spend.
Today's performance by our team mocks that statement.

With the current team,Kenny is doing a great job.But the team is awfully short on balls to create.

yeah ok

The most frustrating team in England.

That performance was fecking shocking.
God what a pile of steaming shit that was.
Torture. Absolute torture. That has got to be against human rights...?
Well, that was utterly fecking abysmal. Getting used to it now, mind.

Seven draws at Anfield now.
-- Kenny / Steve need their arses smacked for the bizarre formation / tactics AT HOME TO FACKING STOKE. What is it? Is it fear or is it an arrogance that says "yeah, we'll play kuyt up front - he'll be alright to score a few against this lot"?

-- Downing needs to be dropped for at least a couple of games to sort his head out - why does he keep getting picked?

-- Where is the faith in youth we thought we'd see? Why not try out Sterling etc? Brave new world my A*SE
We all knew it was coming, don't act like you're surprised.

A few half hearted attempts to blame Howard Webb as well.
