RAWK Goes Into Meltdown (2011/2012)

Kraken-cthulhu.jpg

No doubt he's a Manchester United supporter and resident Caf' contributor...

I'm surprised I'm the only one amazed to find out that these 'popular posters' are in fact elder gods --

Personally I'm thrilled to be in their presence, and can't deny I'm getting myself all worked up.
Cthulhu Mythos deities - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

We have e.g. "Vorvadoss (The Flaming One, Lord of the Universal Spaces, The Troubler of the Sands, Who Waiteth in the Outer Dark)" who "appears as a cloaked, hooded being, enveloped in green flames, with fiery eyes."
I bet that's Spoony.

Who is cthulu?

I don't think the ridiculously hysterical term 'hatemongering' is fitting, considering the amount of time, posts, updates and focus Badunk, I and other Caf members devoted to the Hillsborough-papers release event recently. Neither will you ever find me & others calling Liverpool fans 'scum,' 'dippers' etc etc; if you want to see real and surreal hatred dressed-up as club loyalty and passion, look no further than some of the RAWK posters. Indeed, if it wasn't for that forum's web-wide reputation for such hysteria, this thread would not exist. As it happens, there are equivalent 'RAWK Meltdown' threads on Liverpool fans' fora - when one's own team's supporters disown a message board because they feel it's embarrasing to them & the club, that says it all.

Again (in my opinion), RAWK has its good points, certainly, and its decent, knowledgeable and good-humoured posters...but others let the side down badly.

Erm - Red Issue has frequent 'lets all laugh at Redcafe' threads.

Normally when posters on here discuss match going, and rivalries. :)

True but, as I stated, RAWK's 'special' reputation is web-wide, known for its excesses to many different clubs' supporters...and not just since the Suarez-Evra debate.

Depends how high you hold red issue in esteem though. Personally I'm glad their main forum is closed for outside viewing.

Red Issue is like United in the '80's, and the caf is like Uniteds pre-season tours of Asia post 2000.

Worlds apart.

I like both

For discussing match-going issues and for match-going fans RI is probably the more relevant forum.

For football discussion and everything else RC is better.

I both like and use both too.

For delusion RAWK is second to none.

Red Issue is like a wannabe's fantasy of a certain section of the United support in the '80's
Fixed. :p

A bit unfair, I know, but only a bit. And would you honestly say that posters like MuM, Spoony, Weaste et.al. would be out of place in the 80s? Many of the posters here probably acually supported us in the 80s -- I'm one of them.

Red Issue is decent, but I'll never understand those who see the Caf as only 100% glory hunting JCLs. And as you know there were plenty of sitting-down-with-a-blanketers, moaners, wouldn't-sing-at-gunpointers and transfer muppets at OT in the 80s too.

Nope

I meant the comparison in terms of doom and gloom, with a bit of aggro thrown in.

Don't get all uppity.

Anyway, scousers eh, what a bunch of twats.

Wasn't getting uppity at all :D

Just find it funny hearing young lads talking about wistfully about an era that was way before their time. Usually because old cnuts like me have been banging on and on about how everything was much more fun back in t' day.

It's not just football either. Happens with music too. Although at least with music, they might not have gone to the gigs but they can at least listen to the music. Not sure what the equivalent of that would be in football.

I'd imagine if they let people browse their forum without being a member (which seems comparable to becoming a member of a clandestine sect) there would be a fair bit of the reverse.

I frequently find my photos on Flickr have been linked to from Red Issue with hundreds of hits in a day, but I don't have a clue what they are saying about any of them. Irritating.

Listening to us old cnuts banging on about the Golden Age, maybe? ;)
And seeing Robbo in his pomp, if only on film.

Yes, let's get back on topic and especially the topic of Mancs as elder gods. I do think the Cthulhu mythos would provide an excellent equivalent of a unified field theory for the various Scouse tinfoilhatter theories. It would explain it all.
Who is Cthulhu? Sir Alex, of course.

"It was an All-in-One and One-in-All of limitless being and self — not merely a thing of one Space-Time continuum, but allied to the ultimate animating essence of existence's whole unbounded sweep — the last, utter sweep which has no confines and which outreaches fancy and mathematics alike. It was perhaps that which certain secret cults of earth have whispered of as Manchester United..."

Howard Webb is the ref for their match against Stoke at the weekend, should be interesting thoughts from them on this

SteveJ is one of the top posters in this thread, in the Suarez thread, was one of the top muppets in the summer transfer threads and is a shoe-in for best newbie and probably best overall poster as well. I'm embarrassed to admit it, but he is obviously a bad influence on me and has led me astray.

Shame on you, SteveJ!

It's funny you say that because I think it's literally full of morons. I see no difference between them and Rawkites. You can have that place, Heaps.

Blah, i was simply making the point.

Wasn't trying to plump for Red Issue, as said above, i have time for both.

Are you on RR, Heaps? There was a time I poached loads of RI posters for that place, but not one of them had an IQ greater than City's trophy haul... in fact I go as far as saying they spoilt RR. Whilst posting on RI...I did think, why am I bothering? they're all stupid. This place is infested with muppets as well, just like RI is, but the better posters are very good. And what makes the Caf stand out is that it's very cosmopolitan. I suspect you don't discuss politics, art, movies, literature, incest, weastiality and what not...in depth on Red Issue.

Yeh i am, i probably frequent all three forums at the same rate.

I think you do RI a slight ***-service, just as they do towards the caf.
I've read some fantastic stuff on RI regarding the 'intellectual' stuff you've listed there - however, due to the forum itself being layed out more frantically then here due to the lack of moderators it is harder to pin point the good stuff.

Must admit I am not familiar with any of the others. Is RR the one you cannot even get past the front page on, unless you are very special?

What is Rep of Mancunia like?

Asston is fond of a bet. Is he going to extend a wager to the board on this occasion? Spuds to win the league?

Didn't think so.

I bet him a fair sum of money that Spurs wouldn't win the league in another thread some time ago, he seemed reluctant to take it. I think it was after the Basel loss.

Does RI not accept OOT's to its forum?
They accept everyone, OOTer and armchairer -- the difference is that you can't read the forum without being a member, and you can't stay a member without being active. It's their way of dealing with spam and wumming.
And - subjective opinion ahoy! - the modding is worse, so you'll have to sift through more rubbish. That, and they've got some 'I'm a ~true~ supporter always charging stark naked at the enemy with a half-brick in one hand and a can of Boddingtons in the other!' try-hards, but in general I'm not as negative as Spoony.

Anyway --

We're not battling Man Utd here, we're battling the beliefs of a nation. His bomb has exploded.

Not anymore.

Used to be, but wasn't very active even back in the day. Last time I tried to log in I couldn't, so I assume I was purged for inactivity. And since I hardly have time to be active here (due to my intensely interesting life of 24/7 debauchery & international espionage, naturally) -- a board which I prefer -- I didn't bother to create a new account.

Steve -- "A towering greenish trunk with a crown of tentacles, a row of multiple eyes and a couple of additional, lateral grasping appendages." OOTer. Welsh, even.

How dare you call me Welsh, Mrs Wallpaper! :D

I don't get that. Why do they laugh at people discussing match going and rivalries?

Because no one here attends matches, thus, have no clue about real rivalries.

I don't think any of us get drunk and engage in fights with rival, middle-aged knuckle draggers, either.

We are shit fans, Nick. Live with it.

If all that 'MIB' bollocks is being a real fan then I'm happy not to be. Is that what that lot are into?

I'm led to believe it's what the little scallies who go around looking for fights at the footy call themselves.

Seriously.
