As ever, I'll reserve judgement until we see the new players embedded and what results follow.

10/10
Replaced half the first team with 5 starters. 3 already showing class, 1 is broken, 1 just arrived.
Got rid of Greenwood.
Got Chelsea to give us money for Sancho.
Avoided saddling us with Sterling.
Drew a line under the McFred years.
Paid sensible amounts, held firm.
Made some other sales, loans, releases.

Voted 6, but more so for squad context than happiness over transfers, which would be an 8-9.

Love the ones we got, and i'm excited for the future. I don't think we could have done much better. The profiles and squad we are putting together can challenge in a couple od seasons... But i also want to make it clear that I think we are in a development season for the squad and aren't ready to challenge right now.

Was torn between how i rate our long term planning vs short term. We might still fail to get CL this season due to potential struggles with injuries or players needing to naturally develop before they are ready. But continue like this and i have faith in our longterm work.

8/10. A LB would've made it a 9, another midfielder would've made it a 10. The best thing about the window is seeing how INEOS have operated in identifying what we need and then trying to fill those gaps. I think we've done really well considering the current options available on the market. We've paid good amounts of money on potential so it could all turn bad in the coming years, but that is not something anyone can predict.

It will give a better picture if you focus on the Outs of the First Team players, loan deals for youth players do not directly impact the first team.

Realistically I don't think we could have done more. I gave it a ten. Lots of good players in and sold a decent amount and mostly the right players.

If yoro hadn't been unfortunately injured I think more people would be scoring it 9 or 10, very unlucky he got injured before most even saw him, its like we never bought him.

8/10 for me, only because I think the club could have done more in the outs department, Lindelof was let go then I would give it 10/10 score.

I rated it a 10, i know there is always someone who could be upgraded/replaced, or an area of the team that will need strengthening and there always will be, the perfect squad doesnt exist. ive given a 10 more for the suprise factor of actually having a competent transfer team, that knew their targets and their value and delivered, sticking to a well thought out philosophy.

I think this vindue is an 8, for the first time in x years you could se some kind of plan.. went for young players, fair prices and at positions we needed.. Sold find and got rid of two very big problems. We were never going to get all we needed, and I dont know how people could think that... Now its up to ETH and the players to do their thing

Leny Yoro – 8/10 – Probably the most promising young defender at the time and snatched him away from Real Madrid. Extremely unfortunate to get injured so early and for so long. I hope this doesn’t become a problem. I would have given this a 9/10 if he was fit. But a great signing, nonetheless. The kind I’ve been hoping this club starts making.

Manuel Ugarte – 8/10 – An actual, young DM at Manchester United. Wonders never cease. Could be the difference between finishing 8th and making Top 5. Incredible to have him and good work from INEOS.

Matthijs de Ligt – 7/10 – One of the best CBs in the world, and still young. Could be future captain as well. Sketchy injury history, but not too bad. Great signing in a position United desperately needed. Just hope he stays fit.

Noussair Mazraoui – 6/10 – Quality fullback but very injury-prone, and that’s a position with one too many of those already. The small fee offsets that to a large degree. Decent.

Joshua Zirkzee – 5/10 – Strange transfer, as far as I’m concerned. I still struggle to see how he fits in this team in a way that doesn’t interfere with Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount, or Rasmus Hojlund. Or how he fits in… whatever this manager is trying to do, really. Furthermore, he is the type of forward that relies heavily on wing play and the quality there is quite lacking. And he himself doesn’t really look like a world beater either. I would have much rather signed a proper midfielder for that kind of money, or a better forward. A transfer that doesn’t excite me. But he does offer something different and raises the floor a bit, and he already scored once. Could come good with better players around him, or with a manager focused on possession.

Bonus points for signing young prospects like Chido Obi-Martin and Sekou Kone.

Getting rid of Sancho is massive, very impressive. Also managed to sell well, particularly Greenwood, McTominay, Wan-Bissaka, Mejbri, and got rid of a bunch of superfluous players, like Donny, Kambwala, Pellistri. Released Varane and Martial.

On paper it’s probably the best transfer window in a very long time. Incomings improved the team, wage bill was reduced, and made some money on the side. But there are some issues. How do transfer like Ugarte and Zirkzee fit in the long-term vision of the club, assuming there is one now, and what happens to them after this manager is sacked? Not selling Rashford is a mistake.

8/10, all things considered. Positive stuff but a lot more work to be done. Would have rated it higher if a proper forward was signed instead of Zirkzee, or a midfielder. And a new manager brought as well.

Surely that defeats the purpose because it's ridiculously easy to rare a window with hindsight.
Results are results, chief.

The problem we have with these windows are their use of distractions. The idea we are now, belatedly, doing 'it right'. No more idiots in charge.

If results do not improve we are clearly not doing it right, and those identifying these targets and purchasing them accordingly ought to be in the firing line as much as the maligned manager.

No more failing upwards and PR savvy recruitment (or general marketing) as a distraction.

If these can happen, I'll give ten out of ten Hag.

Spent £180m, recouped £120m. Improving the squad like we have for 60m net is a damn good window. Only way it could’ve been better was signing a prolific 9, but they don’t grow on trees.

9/10.

Does anyone know the net impact on the wage bill? It feels as though with Sancho, Varane and Martial all going we must have seen a decent reduction in our wage bill?

I’d go with an 8/10

Whilst the squad still has areas in need of attention there were a lot of things I liked, not necessarily about the transfers, but more so how we handled them.

Still a work in progress but a great start…

Not repeatedly going back for branthwaite with an extra 5m every time…eventually meeting Everton’s asking price

Not rolling over to Bayern and seemingly completing 2x deals on our terms and at prices we wanted

Getting rid of McT

Getting nearly 3M a week in wages off the books - Varane, Martial, Sancho

Moving on from the Greenwood story

Putting sensible future clauses in to players sold.

Adding to the youth set up with Kone, Lusale and likely Chido-Obi

Getting the next big thing - Yoro. Beating RM and investing in quality young players

Ugarte I believe will help this team significantly as well.

Obviously remains to be seen how we start to perform but when all fully fit we’ve added arguably 3 immediate first team players and improved the squad options

I felt torn between 8 and 9 but picked 9. It's more like 11/10 for player sales and 7/10 for signings from my perspective though.

Whatever else happens, we removed a lot of drama from the team. I don't expect results to govern my thinking - even the Brighton game can't really do that, it's going to take a season to gel the team together. But it feels more like a step towards some sort of future for the club.

Still feel we need goals in the team and we don't have that at the minute. If the various forwards at our disposal don't step up then surely that's the main priority for the next window. Our squad still doesn't feel like even a top 4 squad right now because of that. Garnacho and Bruno feel like the only players that would get minutes anywhere else, but at least the first 7 names on our team sheet are miles better than they were 2-3 years ago.

7

Trimmed the squad and bulked up the defence but when I still think our best possible finish is 4th (and more likely 8th again) I can't give it any higher.

I don't think the first XI is significantly better than last season.

Not sure any of the pundits rate our window, some of them on SSN last night talking about who has had the best transfer window, Clinton Morrison seemed to go out his way to mention everyone except United, Chelsea have had a better window according to him, Souness saying that have bought players that are surplus to requirements, 'top clubs only sell players because they don't fancy them'.

i'd say for a United fan, given what's been going on for the last 10 years + then this has to be a 9/10, even if just from the point of view that we have laid down a marker that we are not the mugs we have been anymore, and that we have got so many average players out the door for decent money, and also hopefully left ourselves in a strong PSR postion for next summer.

The only thing I would say about the signings is that it looks too influence by Ten Hag again, and we seem to have left ourselves short on goals again, but it was never going to be all fixed in one window.

The only thing that doesn't make it a 9/5 out of 10 window is the low base from which we are coming. We could have done with a guaranteed 20 league goals striker and proper cover for Shaw. But these issues are more to do with the disaster of the last five years in the transfer market and it's not fair to expect Ineos to sort out all of them at once.

For example they are having to spend 50m on a DM exactly 24 months after the club spent 70m on one and gave him and 18m contract. We spent over 150m on wingers and both can't buy a start. These issues, especially the financial damage they inflict - real and on PSR - take time to sort. We are probably still paying Real Madrid, Ajax and Dortmund for players that now want to replace.

The out players is good.

The in players is bad.

4 or 5 out of 10.

Which “in” players do you think are bad? Or is it that you wanted more?

Personally think it’s been a great transfer window on paper - in and out, but as we know that means feck all until we start to see the proof on the pitch.

Definitely missed out on a proven striker but these don’t come cheap. On the other hand we got rid of quite a lot of hangers on. We have played two games so far and neither were actually promising, especially up front, with a tough game to come on Sunday. I think we are still going to struggle until we find a regular fit team, everyone playing in their correct positions and possibly a better manager. Hopefully, Ugarte will give us some stability in midfield when he settles in but we need to get rid of a few players in the new year, but I give it a hopeful 7/10

I'm now confident with the people above the manager in terms of sales and acquisitions.

Still need to be convinced on their long term football vision/manager choices.
We'll see what they do on point 2 when ETH is sacked..

A solid 8/10.

If we'd got another midfielder and got rid of Antony it'd been a perfect window.

The headlines around Sterling joining Arse as a 'masterstroke' just shows how the journos create and peddle the narrative with Utd because had this been a transfer to us, the headlines would be totally different!

I was always upset when we were not winning lot of games

INEOS answered it well, even after clearing around 10 players we still have Lindelof/Eriksen/Antony/Case/Rashford but I think the above ones are not too bad. Hope they use this year to prove themselves especially Antony and Rashford as others like Lindelof and Eriksen will leave anyway !!

I’m more impressed by the outgoings than the signings

On paper we bolstered defence which was sensible but didn’t manage to reinforce the left side at all. Also De Ligt and Maz have big question marks re: how injury prone they are.

a DM signing was sorely needed but it’s not 100% if Ugarte will be at the level required

Yoro is gonna be great but one for the future, with De Ligt and Maguire both competing for the same spot

Zirkzee looks really talented but does he have the intensity required for our game and intended style? He seems overly laid back.

I’m excited to see how we do but as I say still a number of question marks on the signings.

Top marks for getting shut of so many players for good prices and going a long way to sorting out our wage bill

Cautiously optimistic but have seen the “best transfer window ever” claims many times before..

7/10 at best.
Good at selling though none of them were great deals.

Main worry is we didn't address the lack of goals. How are we going to narrow the 30+ goals difference between last season's tally and those of the top 4/6 clubs?
A good half of that could be clawed back if we could have "sold" the current ABU generation of officials...

7/10 at the moment.

At the end of the season I'm hoping that will increase to an 8 or 9 or ideally 10/10 by De Light getting his mojo back, Mainoo & Ugarte forming a great partnership in midfield, Zirkzee to be a regular starter & playing well, Yoro to sure up the defence & finally, if we finally get that Arsenal youth striker & at some point he gets a first team goal(s).

Great window in terms of outgoings, just goes to show how poor our squad building has been that we have plenty more to move on still. Incomings I’m happy with but I’d have liked another goal scorer as well as we just don’t have the goals in the squad to push on this year.

8.5/10

8/10. Would have like to have seen a top striker signed but Rome wasn’t built in a day. This window was about INEOS showing their intent. Next summer will be a big one.

Outgoings have been superb, particularly Greenwood. Incomings there's not a single player we've signed who I don't feel positively about. I do feel like we're still short a bit of quality though, particularly in midfield unless this Sekou guy turns out to be a baller straight away.

I'd have also liked to have signed another pacy, versatile full back like Kadoglu, and ideally get a top class forward in, but sure things are few and far between these days, you only have to look at Mbappé to know that.

Outgoings are great and I think our signings have lifted the floor. Going forward we need to raise the ceiling, particularly in midfield and out wide.
