What is going on with the price thing. Italy media reporting about max of 60m euro even with add ons. But English media keep upping the price everyday from 40, 50, 60, 70, and now 80. They say Atalanta is asking 80m but then the media from te region saying on 60m top with add ons. Is United is that much hated in the UK that everyone trying to make United pay more and more.

60m pounds is a lot. He’s very unproven.
Non starter at 60m. At the rumoured 40m it would have been acceptable, esp if Kane joined next summer. Now it’s looking like 60-80 I’d much rather go for Ramos who is more established and frankly a lot better.

YES

I can't decide if Watkins can make the step up,also unsure whether Vlahovic fits what Erik wants from a striker
Can’t see villa selling or him wanting to leave, Villa looked good last season, good setup, investment and good manager.

The Golden Boy index has just been released and Hojlund is 16th and the second highest Forward on the list, 2nd only to Sesko who is 8th.

As a side note Garnacho made the list in 32nd place.

Would love for us to sign both Højlund and Ferguson - both of them will be brilliant players

No it's more to do with the fact that United have a history of paying stupid amounts for players in the past

Funny how every keeps mentioning Ferguson, took time to watch him and would pick sesko over him any day, both have similar qualities except speed

Garnacho is top 10 mate

We are so unsavvy in the transfer market.

Anything over 40million for this lad is crazy. i see the potential, he is an exciting youngster, but teams see UTD coming and our negotiating team take the bait every time.

Mcallister to Liverpool, world cup winner, coming off the back of a superb season, premier league proven, 24 years of age and they get him for 36.7million.... and we may end up paying nearly double for this lad

Mac Allister had a release clause
Premier League proven is a complete myth
He's older than Hojlund

If we sign this guy it will most likely be 40million but with addons taking it up towards 60

Atalanta payed all-in-all €20m (17m plus boni) to our side (Sturm Graz) for the player last year, they will not sell for €40m. Napoli payed €75m for young Osimhen 3 years ago.

Yes, the prices ARE crazy....

Yeah still feel we need an experienced striker too
Think that only leaves Kane and Osimhen as targets, and neither look realistic. Unfortunately looks like we're gonna have to take a punt on a prospect either way.

It's a shame we don't even have anyone else in the team that's remotely reliable. Even if we had someone like Wilson/Watkins, you still have a 15 goal striker that is not quite United quality, but decent. Newcastle have 2 out and out strikers that would walk into our team. But having said that, they splashed €70m for Isak, so that's just the going rate in the CF market.

If Hojlund flops, we're back to square one. Difficult situation.

Strikers have always cost more. MacAllister is not a match winner.

For those who’ve watched a fair bit of this lad, what PL strikers past or present is he most comparable to?

You can mix them up also - Firmino’s pressing with Martial’s finishing etc.

Cheers.

I would compare his movement with Cavani.

Martial's pressing with Weghorst's finishing no idea

If Weghorst & chamakh did the fusion dance, you'd get Hojlund.

Physically he's a bit like Tevez but yeah somewhere along the lines of Tevez and Cavani i'd say

Just to say as well this kid was leading scorer in the Euro 2024 qualifiers, 6 goals in 6 appearences overall for the Denmark. More than Kane more than Lukaku more than Haaland etc, I know people are getting down on him for his current record at Atalanta but if he keeps his national form up he's on the way to a great record there

He doesn't get mentioned much but I feel Gouiri would be a similar level of gamble as this guy and likely cheaper. Plays similarly to Martial too from what I've seen so would fit the same playstyle should he stick around next year.

Youtube highlights are supposed to show the best parts of a player. I watched the one about this guy and, if that is best of him, it is incredibly underwhelming. I really didn't see any promise there; it actually reminded me a bit of the Antony highlights I saw before we signed him.

Sure, but you'd think the scouting team would be referring to a lot more, youth/reserve level recordings and watchings etc.

Strikes me as interesting in that especially if this goes through it would mean Hojlund most likely leaving

Dare I say it. "There is no value in the market."

The tweet suggests it could be Zapata leaving. Atalanta doesn’t mind piling up youngsters on low wages. They do it all the time..

The reporting difference between UK and Italy is extremely odd on this one.

Almost feels like United are pushing the idea out there that he's too expensive for some reason

Maybe because he is?
If he is actually 80+ then yes he is, but I mean in comparison to the Italian reports that say they aren't valueing him at 80 and seem to be confused as to why people are reporting that

I can understand Chelsea/West Ham not budging with their valuations but can Italian/non-premier league teams really turn down 50-60 million.
