Rasmus Højlund | Signed for United

Pretty much in the bag then. Quite an underwhelming signing having gone into the summer hoping for Kane, and as usual we've grossly overpaid but hopefully he'll turn out well in the end. Don't expect big things this season and that's the problem; we needed an instant upgrade and instead, Martial will still be the best no. 9 in the squad.

We tried for Kane, not Erik's fault that clown Levy sees us as a rival and therefore wanted huge fee. I feel disappointment and wish we had put a bid in just to test their resolve but never happened

Overpaid? I didn’t see anywhere where a fee had been agreed? Mystic meg? ;)

Just on a side note, this year we didn’t overpay for either Onana or Mount.

Martial can’t take part in a post match ETH speech without pulling his hamstring. Hojlund is automatically an upgrade based purely on the fact he’s actually available to play. Martial is not the player he was some years ago and id argue if he’s even that much better than Hojlunds current level, at least Hojlund shows desire

Yeah, having a fit striker who should still be significantly better than Weghorst should improve us a lot.

We know roughly what the fee will be.
Well if we all believe what we read in the news/social media, then PSG are prepared to pay as much as us with a higher salary. So "overpaying" doesn't seem to only apply to us it would seem. No idea if we are overpaying or not in this case, time will tell. If he can lead the line and score 25 goals next season for us then we will be calling him a bargain.

Seems like the type of striker a smaller club would sign, not the type of striker Bayern Real Barcelona etc would buy, I thought we were up there with those clubs, but maybe we aren't any more. Hope I'm wrong on both thoughts.
Bet you're fun at a party.

Who should we have got other than Kane?(shame he hadn't the balls to stand up and tell Levy what he wanted). Maybe then we wouldn't have walked away back in June.

Bet you'd be the first to complain if he did indeed end up go to a lower club and we had to fork out over 100m later for him...

This forum has nothing but people who whine, moan and complain about everything United do, they simply can't win.

Only way we wouldn't need another striker is IF Greenwood is returning and Martial could stay fit for more than 5 mins (no chance)

From a budget perspective, it would make sense. We will be getting at least 2 other players -- DM and a CB after Hojlund. The odd thing is that we used to constantly produce strikers within the club -- obviously not all made it but there was always a conveyor belt. It seemed to have dried up in recent years. McNeil and Hugill are up next and they arent good enough.

Think many people are just concerned there will be too many pressure put on him, that's the reason I really hoped we would sign someone else too

You must be fun at parties.
it’s unbelievable how negative some of you are. Kane is not available,I don’t how many times this has be repeated on this thread. Osimhen is another unrealistic target. All the other striker targets are just as risky as this kid,and it seems this is who the gaffer wants.
I’m sorry people like you are ruining the cafe with your unnecessary moaning at everything the club does.

Aint that the truth.

Was he though? I thought he was more or less valued at what we paying for Hojlund now.
Most of the posters here would have said no to a 200m offer back then imo. It's a bit unfair to use Greenwood as a benchmark for Hojlund I think.

His current price is purely dictated by the market. We are desperate for a striker and there's a shortage of them. It's good to keep that in mind when judging how well he does at United. So basically I think, anything above 60 is overpriced and doesn't determine his quality. We simply don't have a choice.

Only will get a CB if Maguire leaves, would also say that Amrabat is more of a DLP/DM hybrid which I know sounds ridiculous

Madrid bought both Rodrigo and Vini for 40m each long before they had any impact in the first team. Also spent 60m for Endrick.

The problem is us being in the situation where we have nobody, not spending big on a high potential player.

Slabby has to leave unless he is completely deluded -- and thinks he can play a high line with Onana behind him now.

He's an England regular but if he ain't playing next season he won't be starting for England for the European Championships.

Yeah like I have said in a previous post the trouble is Haaland's meteoric rise and just insane numbers is making other people in that age bracket look mediocre when they aren't.

Seems the Greenwood going the other way story isn't happening then.

Looks more and more like he is returning which understandably is gonna divide opinion. The one thing I will say is we haven't heard much from the likes of Ducker/Whitwell/Luckhurst on that

The ones moaning he is not the type of striker the likes of United should be signing. We are broke due to complete mismanagement in the past. Also we have signed the type of players you wanted in the recent past and it has not exactly gone well, big fees, big money if why we are in this mess. I am perfectly happy to see how our signings perform and am not expecting too much from this young man. I would have loved Kane here, but unless Levy decides to hang onto him, he will not sell him to us, so it would then be next summer when there will be a lot more suitors.

An idea for an announcement video if you guys sign him.

Black screen...

"In the shadows" by The Rasmus (;)) plays

Out steps Rasmus

"He's been waiting"

PSG also are in the running for the player but no big clubs without buy him?

We also cannot think that United are on the same level as Bayern, Barcelona and Madrid and have the same pull as them.

Liverpool in recent seasons have a better chance of going into that group than United.

United are doing the right thing going for Rasmus. If he works out, the next 5-6 seasons are sorted.

Yeah completely agree with you it's all on Levy to keep holding Bayern up seeing as he has already fecked us off earlier in summer
