He gets absolutely no crosses at all.

Which is a good thing because he's one of the worst strikers in the league aerially.

Low crosses maybe? No...not that either because he always self-marks behind a centre-back and literally never makes dangerous runs.
I would ask my agent to get me out of there asap.

Maybe Augsburg or Cadiz.

Calling him a mule or terrible player is insane to me. Genuinely

Christ some of this fanbase sucks. Acting like literal toddlers with their pissing and moaning and complete lack of anything resembling patience.
Aye, we have so many specialists on here who know in advance who will make it, let's ignore the circumstances, his age etc.

It boggles my mind how childish and impatient some are on here.

He is poor on air, what will he do with the cross? Doesn't have instinct to get in for low crosses on front or back post.
Yeah we can make that assumption from the three crosses all season. I feel sorry for him, needs to go to a team that uses the forward for forward things.

Can he control a pass rather than it bouncing off his knees FFS.

Come off it. Now you're just refusing to acknowledge the times he's held the ball up for his team mates throughout the season.

I don't understand why some are piling on him when he's feeding off scraps either thanks to the set up or the poor decision making of our wide players.

It's funny, I often thing we are overly harsh on our own players but with Rasmus it seems to be the other direction.

Sure, as a striker he doesn't get any kind of quality service. But his hold up play, decision making and finding space in the box are miles away from where they need to be. Hopefully he will get there, the club shouldn't put him in the position of having to be the main man.

Not making runs, yeah now I have heard it all.

His touch and technique are the biggest concern. Nowhere near the quality of a top half striker.

You can’t critique new signings on here. You have to bury your head in the sand, pretend they’re brilliant, ignore any concerns and laugh at anyone who dares bring them up. See Maguire, Sancho, Antony etc etc

I'm not sure he'll make that big step up that is needed. I mean he was decent in the Austrian league but never stood out like players like Mane or Haaland did

Oh come of it, literally no one thinks that, stop lying to suit your narrative, people just ask for some patience for new kid that is still developing, that was common sense in this fanbase some time ago. But now it's filled with children who think they know everything.

If people here used just a bit of common sense and some of the context, he also wouldn't be scrutinized this much.
It’s unfortunate that he’s our main striker in a goal-shy team. And it’s apparent that he’s not ready as a main guy to lead the line.

We should have kept Wout and keep 70 mil in the bank. Wout at least knew how to control the ball.

We’ve watched him for a full season. You can clearly see he’s miles off being good enough. And his technique is massively lacking. Age won’t change that. You either have good technique or you don’t.

I think he has enough about him to be develop into a useful player. Just not a top one.

There is nothing clear about him, he had great games where his ball control and hold up play was great. But his "critics" seem to ignore those because it doesn't suit the narrative.

Remember some people saying they'd rather him to Haaland. Even worse service aside, he doesn't really create enough chances for himself. He's not been terrible but 8 goals in 28 in the league is very average.

And average is fine from a young lad coming into new league in a very dysfunctional team in his first season.

Lots of people can't seem to also grasp how much confidence can change a player. This isn't fecking FIFA where he has predefined stats and that's it. Get rid, it's over.

Not saying get rid of him but just he cost £70m and probably should have got 1-2 other strikers so he could bed in. You wouldn't mind if he was an academy player, but he cost a lot of money and no guarantee he gets much better either.

Not making runs, yeah now I have heard it all.
Other than the one or two that people post on twitter, there's hardly any. He plays with his back to goal most of the time, standing next to the defender, waiting for 'service'

I get incredibly pissed when I’m playing FIFA, getting past the fullback with my winger and running into the box, and the striker stops running with me and hands on the edge of the box.

Hojlund did that today with one of Garnachos runs.

Honestly, he cannot control or pass a ball. The profile of player we bought was completely wrong and the scouting department messed this one up.

That’s a stretch. He had a good run of form in front of goal but his all round game has been lacking all season. His touch, technique, control is just poor. You can’t hide from that. He’s very Lukaku-esq.

His injury came at the worst possible time. He was in some fantastic form and ever since he's returned he's seemed a step or two behind.

I think he will be much better next season. I still rate him myself.

He was well positioned for a cut back there tbf

Been really poor since coming back from his injury, which has also coincided with the team pretty much giving up on the season, however this does not excuse him being a ball repellent every time the ball somehow reaches him.

Does your winger get the ball on that wing about 20 times and do nothing with it about 15 times? That's Garnacho today.

Hojlund probably did bad with 5 crosses/runs. Garnacho did bad with 15.

Both players shouldn't be in this predicament because it's all on ETH but that's probably a closer reflection of their ball uses.

Bring in a striker coach to work on his movement off the ball. It's terrible. He's young I get that but he doesn't have the natural instincts of a striker. Worrying but hopefully can be improved.

We clearly over paid but it’s not the lads fault we are playing the worse football in my time of watching our team when he has to rely on a mix of AWB, Dalot, Antony, Rashford and Garnacho to create anything for him.

At least he posseses qualities that are useful in the PL half our squad simply don’t.

No it hasn't, there were quite a few games where his overall play was really good. Like I said, confidence in player can change a lot.

I’d have said the same of a young Kane personally, never in a million years would I have thought he’d turn out the way he did.

I'm not sure how much better technically a player can become. He has flaws and has a bit of Lukaku about him but this shouldn't really be on him to lead the line.

This guy was not first choice at Atalanta until injuries hit them. He is meant to be a work in progress and whoever decides £70m is value for him is a fecking moron.

He needs an experienced striker around him

Matches his xg. It's not like he's missing a load of chances and we can talk about his movement, which does need some work, but this team just doesn't create.

I think he'll still turn into a top striker. Saw enough of that before his injury to believe it still. He'll never be a Rooney type of player though, he's not going to carry the team's attack on his own or inspire them when the chips are down.

We aren't set up to play with him at all at the moment. We have goal scoring wide players who normally look to cut in and shoot at every opportunity. Amad is the only one who looks like he could develop some kind of chemistry with a striker right now, but that's not going to happen if they never play together.

We either needed to sign a selfless #9/False 9 who looks to bring others into play and would accommodate goal scoring wide players. Think Firmino at Liverpool. Or, we need to shift our wingers and get in more creative players, who will look to cross or pass rather than cut in and shoot all the time.

Instead we spent a ton of money to split the difference, for some reason.

He needs to be stronger and not go to the floor as easily. He was better with his holdup play earlier in the season now he's average and sometimes poor with it

But he did before United and early on in the season... so what's changed?

I've posted in this thread before that the scouting profiles in the summer before he made the move, they all point out his naturally good movement in the box and so on. Now all of a sudden it's absolutely vanished into thin air? Why?
