Has ti feed off scraps and doesn't do enough with those scraps.

The hope is he'll improve with more service, but he really does have to improve.

He absolutely needed to lay that off to Rashford (I think it was) at the end there. Kept hold off it for too long, which he did a bit much today. The selfish gene is rubbing off on him.

Can't comment on the 1st half as I didn't see it but we barely give the guy anything to work with.

And he gives his teammates absolutely feck all to work with.

A 6'3 forward who can't win headers, gets bodied by 5'7 full-backs, makes genuinely appalling off-ball runs and can't create his own chances.

What a striker.

Seriously, Lukaku was absolutely slated here for his hold up play. Well, Lukaku's hold up play looks as first class compared to Hojlund. Why Hojlund makes himself smaller and smaller when he tries to play with the back from the goal? It always ends by him falling on his ass.
At least Lukaku was a goal threat as well.

Had a really good spell, then got injured.
Hasn't been near that form since, but we are in a bit of a mad spell of kamikaze football.

Needs to be sold on in the summer, his age is not an excuse anymore.

The sound is still coming out if the whistle and the usual muppets are in here.

Was involved in some good passing moves and could have done better with a couple of situations.
Heard it all before from the defenders of Sancho,Antony,Rashford,Lukaku etc. He just isnt up to it. You dont need to be a total level coach to see he isnt good enough. How the feck can we scout him and pay 72m? Its just insanity.

He doesnt have to feed off scraps he gets plenty of balls to him but wastes them by knocking away from himself with a poor first touch or tries to control it and gets muscled of it because he is to weak to hold of a defender.

This guys isnt and never has been good enough or strong enough to play for a top side, a fully fit Martial would have been a much better option today.

He is outmuscled in pretty much every hold up duel. Needs to improve a lot.

He does this move where a defender is a couple of yards away and starts backing into him for no reason.

He loses the ball a lot this way.

I rate him. I just don't think he fits "The Plan". I don't understand how he finds his place into a counterattacking... umm, sorry, "transitional" team? His positioning is all over and seems to never be in the right place. You would think he would be the edge, but he is constantly very deep, gets the ball, drives it forward, and then holds it before losing it or passing back. And it's not like we are crossing the ball to him all the time either, while he waits in the box.

I don't understand what's supposed to be his role?

Is he made of paper or what? So lightweight so weak. Falls on his arse so many times. Even without the ball he’s slipping all over the place.

A fully fit and motivated Martial is as good as peak Benzema. So that's not a fair comparison.

Is this the bar now? Martial used to get slated on here for far less.

Yup. Unbelievable how poor we are at scouting players.

Said this in another thread but although Wout wasn't great for us we had the same problem in that whoever plays central striker just doesn't see enough of the ball. It's the wingers we rely on for goals and they want to play as if they're the main goal-scoring threats.

Did he even have a shot today? Seems a rarity most games.

He is right though
Let's sell our only striker because he's going through a poor run of form, just like most 21 year old strikers go through, after recently coming back from an injury.

Thankfully, I don't think Ratcliffe will heed that advice. We have 15 other players that need selling before we consider ditching Hojlund.

He's only had one shot since coming back from injury. Lost the ball four times today to poor control.

He isnt going through a poor run of form though he is just not good enough full stop

We go through this routine every time we purchase a mediocre player. Excuses galore and setting the bar ridiculously low to absolve them of accountability for their performances

He's a young lad playing in a shit team in a new league. We should always give new players a season to bed in before slaughtering them.

 . Definitely an argument to make about how raw he is and some people will ask if he'll ever be the player we want him to be etc. but, i still think there's a system issue there too. You play CF for United these days, and you won't get the ball much it seems.

Do you not think it might be a good idea to give him another season before binning him off? Considering his age and the quality of goals he's scored, it's a no-brainer.

Fair enough if he has an Antony-esque second season then we can start having the conversation.

He doesn't get much service, that is true, he also doesn't make great runs and is rather one dimensional and limited in his all round play. Team composition issues, Rashford and Garnacho are shoot first players with tunnel vision around the box, they need a 9 who can take some of the playmaking duties and create for them, Hojlund needs wide players who can create for him. Antony was supposed to be that but has not come close.

Utd end up with 3 one dimensional players up front spamming hoofs and transitions into space because the attack can do little else at this stage.

Can't be digging this guy out too....

His first season, with new teammates, an apparently confused manager, and a squad lacking any confidence...... Come on now

This chaotic basket ball doesn't suit him at all. He will end up getting ruined here.

I can't argue with that so far. Got youth on his side though and he did a look a lot better in that period where he was scoring goals (not just that but his overall play). Seems to be back to where he was before that spell now.

Hasn’t been great since returning from injury.
Disappointed in his hold up play today in particular. He has the build, but he’s not great at protecting the ball.
Too early to write off. It’s a joke that a club like Utd only has one centre forward.

He did an excellent run but Dalot didn't pass and instead we lost the ball. Rasmus has done perfect runs so many times with the same result and it's clear he is now constantly second guessing himself. This team or rather tactic maybe could ruin any striker. We would need prime Benz or Kane for this shite to work.

No, let's give him chance after chance like we have with mctominay, martial and rashford, it has worked out in the end for them.....

There's a middle ground between keeping Martial for 9 years and giving a 21 year old Hojlund more than one season.
