0/3 on aerials again tonight.

Zero point in having a 6'3 forward who gets bullied on the ground and is statistically one of the worst aerial forwards in the entire league. Also makes some shockingly bad runs.

Can only hope he starts putting it together as he matures but the signs aren't particularly promising.

He looks unfit. Hopefully he’s playing himself back into it because he’s been really poor since his return.

I'm starting to question some of his runs forward. Our awful passing doesn't hurt his case but he looks all over the place at times.
Yeah, there were a few occasions when it seemed he was making the same runs as others and just closing space down. Hopefully he gets back in the groove very quickly.

Ghost. You could have stealthily taken him off and absolutely nothing would have changed whatsoever.

Chelsea came back into the game after Hojlund and Casemiro came off. He may not be scoring but he played a major part in keeping Chelsea pegged back.

That small injury really halted the momentum he was building. Hope he find it again soon because that was a pretty anonymous first half in particular.

How’s your flash in the pan working out lad? Absolutely shite again tonight.
Wishing him to fail at the start, goes on a great run, absolute crickets in here from most of the doubters, 2 games of poor form on the back of an injury and of course its back to oh he’s the shittest player ever kind of stuff.

Love this forum

It was always going to be temporary. He was hitting everything and getting fairly random chances. Injury or not, there was nothing sustainable about that scoring run.

I thought Rooney was as bad as it could get when he was out and needed a run of games to get back up to speed.

Hojlund is basically invisible and behind the play all game. I don’t want to hear shit about him not receiving the ball, that was the most end to end game you’ll see all season no one should have any excuse for not being involved in the game.

He’s not good enough for us to tolerate his bad form in the starting 11 until he’s in good form again.

Needs to get himself involved more. I really like Hojlund but his all round play isn’t all that.

It’s a performance thread if you weren’t aware lad? When a player performs badly, people will react. It’s good you like the forum too.

It's worrying that we're nearly at the end of the season and he still looks like he's on a different wavelength to the rest of the team.

The run of goals was nice but it was the signs that his all round game was starting to settle that was more important in my opinion during that run. Fallen off on his return, he needs to be better in general play, get stronger over the summer, sharpen up the first touch and passing, Utd can't afford for him to be as one dimensional as he he often is.

Really poor. If Haaland is a league two player, at least he’s getting on the ball in open play. He’s just going to have to reset under a new manager and hope that it’s all ten hags fault. We need to go for Toney.

The whole team is on different wavelengths with each other, so this isn't surprising.

We play like there's 11 strangers on the pitch.

I'm aware lad, just pointing out the joy in some peoples posts that has appeared again after a couple of bad games despite ghosting when he was playing well, that's all.

Coming into April now, the season's coming to its end, flop might not be too much of a harsh exaggeration unless he totally transforms himself in these final games.
12 goals in 1st season at the PL for a 21 year old hardly screams flop. At the same age Harry Kane was on loan in the Championship.

He’s not ready, but he’s done ok given the circumstances, Martial got 17 goals in all comps in his first season that won him the Golden Boy award. We need a seasoned striker to help him out and mentor him though, or he might truly become a flop if left to struggle by himself.

‘Back up to Hojlund’. Apparently that’s what we need to be targeting in the summer. Absolute joke, Hojlund is a long way from being undisputed first choice striker at a top club. He should be the backup himself. The vast majority of his games this season have gone like they did last night.

The Golden Boy award wasn’t decided on a calculator. Martial was head and shoulders above what Hojlund has shown this season, which is why he won the award.

Yes, but ultimately we have to judge players on their productivity and Højlund has done ok in that regard, for a young player. A 19 year old Martial would go for £100m+ nowadays, I don’t think anybody who is objective enough thought we’d get a young striker who wasn’t even undisputed starter at Atalanta to bằng in 30 goals in his first season, it’s a project.

I was suprised by his goalscoring run - but apart from two, his goals look a bit 'scruffy'.

He can go on some beautiful fast paced runs, but when he has to work slower he sometimes seems to have the balance of Lukaku.

It's not that I have suddenly turned aagainst him - it's more that i was unsure of him from the start.

Hopefully he can come back to his previous form and prove me wrong which would make me happy.

I'm unsure about building the side to get the best of Hojlund when we have so many inverted forwards which arguably should be our goalscorers played in through the central forward rather than inverted forwards trying to play in a poacher.

If we are going to get the best of Hojlund our whole attacking team structure has to change in to players like Olise.

The current/recent style of play will always create chances for the wide players to showcase their speed/skills.

But it caters for no one else, so your CF will look isolated and limited when barely any chances are created by the non-existent midfield.

But Hojlund was fine, he looked a bit tired like a few others after the international break.

Let's put that myth to bed

We could have prime RVN up front and he'd barely get a kick of the ball. He's a long way from the problem with this team.

Ignoring the scoring run, I thought his general play was much better too.

Since his return from injury though, he's been really poor.

I think most people would be happy with the exact amount of goals he’s scored so far if he also looked like Martial at 19. His output is mot the issue, it’s his invisibility in the vast majority of his games that is more a problem. The goals can come, but he simply has too little involvement in a football match, beyond wrestling with centre halves.

I’d have no concerns of he was just a nearly guy with things not coming off, attempted lobs going just over, shots going just wide, taking on some defenders. But this too frequent ‘nothingness’ won’t do for too long.

He's shite.

It's a miracle we even had a chance at finishing in the top 5 this season, with this guy as our main striker.

He is not Premier League standard, he would be playing for our u23s team if he didn't cost as much as he did.

My concern with him, Garnacho and Mainoo is that Ten Hag isn't exactly nurturing them at this stage but simply relying on them. This guy needs a lot of work but I have to wonder what exactly he's being taught or asked to do as some of his runs are very unorthodox. I can only think he's not being very well coached as he looks like he doesn't know where he needs to be half the time.

The TNT sport link has Kane scoring 15 goals in 34 games. Hojlund is currently at 13 goals in 32 games. Maybe he wasn't in the Championship but i'd hardly say he was pulling up trees compared to Hojlund at the time
