Yeah I thought about 15 would be very good, considering Rooney got 17 & 19 in his first 2 seasons and Ronaldo 12 as a 20 year old - and he’s not nearly as good or established as either, nor should he be comparable…. So the fact he looks like he’ll hit that easily has to be considered a success. A great one if he gets anywhere near 20

I really, really, like him, but the wide players really need to service him better. Rashford is Rashford, but Garnacho needs to get his head up and try to pick him out more.

Spare me the condescension. I've defended him in this thread when he was being compared to Weghorst, so yeah, I noticed his potential. But when he started his first touch wasn't great and he kept losing the ball the very few times it was played to him. His touch still isn't perfect, but it has gotten better which has enabled him to hold the ball up better.
I understand where you're coming from. He is a very traditional striker who plays the ball into the wing and attacks the box. But I think part of it is instruction. We're relying on our wingers and FBs for width while ST and AM attack the box. Overall I agree that he needs to mix it up, especially on counters. We can only hope he will learn to change up his game, just like Garnacho is doing.
All I know is that we REALLY needed (need) this signing to work out for us. The young number 9 we bought for big money was always going to have a huge bearing on how good the team we are building would become, and it looks like we just might have got one.
If I am reading stats right, he is one goal off to equal his highest tally in a season for his career.
If we bought him based on his potential from previous years, he's surely exceeding expectations from the club. And thats without proper services and higher expectations to score.

His highest tally in all comps was 10 (last year for Atalanta). He’s already beaten that with 11 this season.
On current form surely he’s the best 21 year old in the world? If he just stays around this level we are dealing with a good player we can definitely build with, if he keeps improving we could be finally be dealing with a world class striker entering his prime with us. I don’t want to jinx him but the signs are strong that he’s professional and obsessed with improving. He strikes me as a future leader. He is already physically excellent, brave and has good variation in his finishing and play, the sky is the limit.

I think he should be aiming at 20 goals in all comps by the end of the season. Can be done and he’s got the talent to do it.

Saying that two months ago would have seemed a bit unrealistic but it really doesn't now. I think even just getting near it would be pretty good for a kid in his first season.
Rooney bagged 17 in his first season here (although obviously he played as more of a 10). Similar numbers in what is a worse team would be good going.
He gets very little up front, our wingers don't know how to play with an actual CF since they're so used to being the goal scorers. Will take some time, especially how Garnacho is one of them, still very young.
May just be me but it looks like he's putting on muscle. Compared with earlier in the season, he's not falling over like before and he is using his body better. Earlier in the season he was getting knocked off the ball. But he just looks a bit different physically.
He's much better with his back to goal now and that brings others into play. Maybe that will result in him losing a bit of pace like Rashford has, but the Prem demands physicality now and in the kind of duels he's getting involved in, he needs upper body strength.

Definitely can score 15-20 goals this season, which is very good given his age. I think he will become one of best striker in the world in few years time.
I don't really see this, he was a physical beast right from the time he came in and started manhandling Arsenal's defenders. His hold up play is pretty good (better than Lukaku for sure) but he probably lost the ball earlier on due to some poor first touches. With confidence we are seeing a better version of Højlund, including the goalscoring. We just need to feed him and he will get us goals
While I agree with your comment in that we need a 30+ goal striker in the future that would be dependent on us being a better team as others have said hojlund would be on more goals by now in a better functioning set up but also might have used more sparingly which balances it out i suppose.
He’s definitely looking up and trying to pick him out now at least, which is a big improvement. Just needs to keep working hard and getting the passes right

He does need to work on attacking crosses. I know the delivery he gets is shocking with wide players never passing but he always seems a little late to them - see the cross from Dalot to him va that to Mcotminay who always seems to test or beat the keeper.

The best thing about him is, he looks like he's mentally up to it and properly motivated. Maybe it's because he's had to prove himself as a young player in 3 foreign countries now and that gives him the edge mentality wise over people like say...Jesse Lingard.
I’ve been happy with his progress. He looks good enough for this league. As a young striker that’s good news. Might turn out we got a bargain.

He's only ever really been in the starting lineup for half a season before this one, so he really should be beating his previous records now that he's playing more or less every game. But yeah, it's promising to see he got through a tough first half to the season.

I’ve been a big defender of him all season because you could tell the goals would come. Having said that his all round game has also clearly improved, I would say from a mixture of more confidence plus getting used to the pace and physicality of the league. He’s going to be some player and I think he’s capable of 30 goal seasons.

Yep! So frustrating. Ruins so many goal scoring moments, which is basically the best moments of watching your team.
I think it's more that you have to set yourself a bit quicker when receiving the ball in the PL as defenders are generally allowed to be a lot more aggressive going through the back of an attacker.

We've got our striker for years to come. He's absolutely brilliant. Those 'scruffy' goals are what we've missed for years.
Was just speaking about this at work. I was completely convinced it was off because VAR has normalised this.
Everyone in the pub said "offside" so I was convinced.

He's going to be a very complete striker. There is really little that he misses. Fast, strong, tall, good aerially, good in hold up play, link up play, can carry the ball, has a venomous shot on him and can actually create for others. If we were a proper team he'd already be scoring for fun in the PL, fantastic signing.

He's on 11 goals, so 20 is definitely achievable.
He's had a whirlwind start to his career moving from Denmark to Austria to Italy to the PL, all before the age of 20. He had no preseason.
So all things considered, he's doing well so far.

I still would keep VAR as I genuinely think people have forgotten how annoying it is to have a goal scored against you that is clearly offside or whatever. But we need some form of almost instantaneous automatic decision.
