Rashford considering his future...

I wish fans would just accept how limited he is, he's basically a runner.
He doesn't even do much of that anymore. I'd actually be patient and willing to give him time to overcome this horrific form of his if he actually busted a gut in games, tracked back and generally looked bothered.

I see him happy everywhere but in games. He is always smiling and happy in training, vacation, social media, events then you see him on match day whether on the pitch or on the bench and he looks a right miserable sod. Why is that ? Not trying to break a smile even for the cameras. I don’t have a clue. He was never like this. When did it all change?

How much time do you think he actually spent on it?

Professional athletes have plenty of spare time. Having constructive outside interests is better than just sitting around playing video games, or (like they did 20-30 years ago) going down the pub and getting smashed at least once a week.

The only issue is if the outside stuff starts taking too much attention and the football suffers. Which yes, may be a problem in Rashford's case. But writing some books in itself isn't an issue.

That’s quite obviously the issue here and hence why it’s being brought up. I wouldn’t give a toss if he was banging goals in every week.

This is why it doesnt work in an actual match. Here we see a 24 y.o Rashford jogging past 45 y.o Matic and 67 y.o Fletcher as defensive midfielders that were supposed to mark him. Dont blame him if he doesnt run in the next game.

I mean, not wrong this really is it? Remember stories from our more successful periods about how training could be tougher than match days. Iron sharpens iron etc.

Do you think that Marcus Rashford would be as popular as he is now if he plays for Everton instead of Manchester United?
No and that may just save his career once he’s not so popular and gets his focus back to football.

I'm still convinced that Marcus has not fully recovered, physically and mentally, from his injuries. It may me that he's 100% physically fit now, though he doesn't look it, but something seems to have scarred him mentally from playing through that much pain. But a lot of that blame falls on himself for pushing himself into the England side last summer rather than accepting the surgery he needed in the spring and then recovering in the summer.

However, I'm not sure he'll ever regain his previous form again.

Most worrying thing about that tweet for me is he needs a co author to help him write a children's book.

Do you agree with that despicable cnut in general?
The guy makes some good points and some OTT. He also tweeted about how Casemiro cut short his vacation and rushed back to Real Madrid after they lost 3-7 to Atletico.

He's an absolute scumbag. Some of the stuff he's come out with has been outrageous. I have him blocked on twitter.

I dont follow the guy. So I don't know what all he tweets. I have just read a few of them, mostly that were posted here.

Rashford has released 3 books in the past year ?
How can anyone say this isn’t a distraction then ? Doesn’t it take a lot of time and effort from compilation to promotion for even one book ?

He just takes photos with them, that's not much effort.

He also seems to think Rashford himself is tweeting which makes me suspect.

Well it makes sense its the same sort of people that seem to think Rashford himself is the one sitting down to write children's books, when he should be out in the garden doing laps.

But you know Rashford promoting a book to raise money for a children's Charity what a cnut eh? When the team he plays for lost a football match he should have been straight on the phone getting them to cancel the release.

I doubt Rashford had more than a very basic input on the book or most of the other things he does. Its not his time management that bothers me, its his application to the job that is paying him about 7 times the yearly national wage...per week. I don't think he his burning the candles at both ends I just think he he has become what most overpaid and under-managed young footballers become, disinterested and full of themselves. Hes not worth 1/3rd of his wage currently and behaves (like a lot of other players at the club lets be fair) like he is the victim rather than part of the problem.

Do you people really think people like Rashford actually write it? It's like Evra's book. Andy Mitten interviewed him multiple times and wrote it and then Evra and his team read it and gave feedback until the final version.

People like Rashford and Evra do not actually have the time to write the books. That's why it's 3 in the past year and people bringing it up are being disingenuous. It's not Rashford on his own writing it.

The books are written by ghostwriters, Rashford hasnt written a book. He has posed for photos, and the content is simply a written interpretation of conversations he has had with the authors. To my knowledge all of this has taken place in his off time.

What knowledge do you have of his roster?

Everyday i login i see this thread on the front pages and that just reinforces my belief that rashford should be playing in the reserves till the end of the season and then sold to the highest bidder.

I would think most of his books aren't actually his idea. It's other people and leeches seeing a potential money machine (because it can be a continued series) that convinced Rashford to put his name on them while he added very little to the contents. He's becoming a marketing machine and people wonder why this guy lost interest in his football. Surrounded by the wrong people hiding behind inspiring kids.

If Rashford was actually performing well, I'd assume his book releases would be seen in a very different light

I get why people have ghostwriters for autobiographies but someone writing a piece of fiction and celebrities putting their name to it seems a bit too much to me. Nobody believes Rashford was writing a childrens story after training ffs.

Shitting out a kid's book is one of the go-to moves for any PR firm building a celebrities brand/cashing in.

It takes absolutely zero effort and brings potentially massive gains.

  1. Find a wannabe author who's submitted a passable book that they can adapt slightly based on what you want.
  2. Offer them a tiny percentage of the profits in exchange for putting your clients name on it (I've personally seen 97.5/2.5% splits. Shockingly low amounts...especially when you consider that the actual product is 100% theirs)
  3. Sell it to a big publisher by virtue of your clients celebrity. They'll pay a huge amount just to have the celebrity branding, so you've already banked a small fortune before the book even hits the shelves.
  4. Use your clients celebrity (social media followers, press contacts) to get extensive free promo for the book
  5. Collect the profits...and they'll usually be massive, because...well this article explains it well.

The tl;dr version is: Kids books make up 30% of yearly sales, parents only buy classic authors or celebrities, supermarkets only stock celebrity books and bestsellers

I am hoping he is getting paid handsomely for it

Yeah it does make me chuckle. Ghost written fiction is a bit mad to me, smells like total cash grabs.

Even if it was, what Rashford does in his downtime is kind of up to him? I mean he obviously isn't, but if he was spending his evenings writing books then it's hardly the end of the world.
