Ah yet another possibly transfer met with "No thanks". We're 5th in the league and have players like Lingard, Jones, Fellaini, and Young in our team, but a quick glance at some threads on here and I've seen many turn their noses up to players like Morota, Willian, Dier, Varane, and James Rodriguez. I wonder who is deemed good enough to get in to our team of superstars...

Well he's one of the few ball playing CBs out there. And I don't want him in the team either. I rather go with Manolas from Roma instead.

I think ball playing is to some extent done well by Bailly and Rojo. Manolas seems to have pretty much joined inter.

That isn't true. And for Mourinho he would be the first name on the team sheet with Pogba and De Gea :)

Varane is starter for the French NT, a team with a lot of good CB ( Koscielny, Umtiti, Laporte, Kimpembe, Zouma... they are all easily better Jones )

Even when he is poor, Varane is twice the player than Jones is.

Not at all. At present Varane is pretty overrated. He hasn't had a good season since mourinho left. He did show great brilliance when he was 20 vs Barcelona but that's 4 years back. Varane isn't better than Jones. Potential wise maybe but otherwise it's just a case of other teams' players seeming world class from afar.

All those players are in our squad due to injuries (except Fellaini maybe).

Its because people want better upgrades, not that they don't want an upgrade at all.

Buy injury prone players to solve our injury issues, sounds logical.

Has pace and is fancy on the ball, defensively suspect.

When he is good he really is good. Apprehensions I assume is due to his injuries mostly and partly because people expect him to be playing at his best all the time which isn't the case.

He wouldn't be starting if Pepe was available so we might have a chance of getting him.

Imagine Jones trying to do that. He'd break both of his legs.

We could definitely use a CB comfortable on the ball like him next to Bailly but, like what has been mentioned previously in this thread he is injury prone, people forget how inconsistent he can be and with Pepe leaving soon Real will have very little interest to sale.

He's not better then Jones... @prath92.

I suppose Blind is better too.

He is still questionable defensively. Quite obvious he has stagnated for a while now.

Then again, your judgement of players is as good as Donald trump's judgement of people.

He's questionable defensively but Blind isn't.

Stick to whoscored stats.

Never said blind doesn't commit mistakes but you make a big deal if he so much as blinks wrongly. I understand people having issues with his pace and strength but he defends better than you or many others give him credit for

Whereas Varane has had many mistakes too. If that was Blind with those mistakes then you would come with pitchforks too

What are you going on about? I rarely post in the Blind thread. Do you always make stuff up?

I told you last year I do not rate him as a long term centre back and Mourinho seems to agree. Otherwise he wouldn't be only playing there if we didn't have three centre backs out and Mourinho trying to force Jones and Smalling to come back.

Has he? I thought Pepe has been excellent for the past couple of seasons. Where as Varane been in and out the team with injuries.
He has been out injured for 2-3 months in each of 3 of the past 4 seasons and was out for 5 month the season before those. The absences have affected his development and rhythm.

For all his talent, he is too injury prone imo

Make stuff up? You seem to post in that thread only when he makes a mistake. I remember you posting in his thread last after the anderlecht game all guns blazing about how he was garbage and stuff. Haven't checked but I'm sure you haven't posted in the thread after that when he had 2 good games and played very well. Rest assured I'm sure you will be first to post next time he commits an error.

No one has said he is the long term option for CB ever, at least I haven't. All I've said is that he is a competent CB and him getting outmuscled and outrun is something that rarely seen to happen even though he played against most top strikers over the last 2 years

I also said he did well in the second half and extra time. Do you always selective quote and make shit up?

SSN: Reporting United have turned to Varane.... More to follow

Scrolling Yellow Banner. "United fans being trolled non-stop by nasty sky sports news wannabes"

He'll be a great partner for Jones in the treatment room

I would like us to sign Varane but the only way I can see that happening is if De gea is going the other way.

Imagine Jones trying to do that. He'd break both of his legs.

Most pub footballers can pull that off from time to time with no pressure - Rojo did a more impressive first touch in a training session - goalies can do that. But yeah, Jones would definitely twist his knee and do his ligaments.

Real Madrid will sell Pepe. Sky Sports are a joke.

This is the type of player we should be going for! Especially if de Gea was to go the other way

He's a more injury prone, better on the ball Smalling. Not what we need.
