I don't watch him a great deal but in this tournament he was very classy on the ball but also seemed to suffer physically against robust attackers (similar to a certain Ice man). Might be a problem in the premier league.

I think I remember talk about letting Laporte go as he’s out of favour and keen to go back to Spain. I wouldn’t be surprised if all parties would take a swap of those two players and be happy with the outcome.

Has Varane ever been a top top quality CB in your eyes? I used to watch him at Madrid occasionally and the likes of Pepe and Ramos were much better.

Even if Varane was top at one point - he hasn’t been that good for now 3-4 seasons has he?

Are we getting a top quality CB if we go for him in his prime - or is it better looking at a youngster that has the ability to play better than him one day?

Top top quality CB, I'd say yes he was that at some point but that was also when Ramos was at a very good level. They were good for each other without a doubt. This season he's been wank but I guess I hope he can become that player he was one day, again

Thanks. Thats what matters most to me. Maguire is no Ramos but I do feel that we haven't seen his very top level yet as we haven't found his proper partner. Hopefully, if we sign Varane, they can be greta together. Perhaps a change of scenery would reignite Varane's fire too and see him reach previous levels again. I mean the lad quite clearly has everything you'd want in a defender quality wise.

I don't think Varane is anywhere near Ferdinand or Van Dijk levels but he would be a great signing as he's much better than Lindelof or Bailly.

The minimum quality of CB we should be signing this summer is a Varane or Akanji. If they're not as good on the ball or as fast and strong as them I don't wanna hear it!
