Raphael Varane | Signed for United!

Now Sancho is basically done and the thread will naturally die down in the next days, is this Varane thread going to become the new Muppet hang out?

I honestly reckon he's the perfect compliment to Maguire, could make for one hell of a partnership. For some reason, I just don't believe we can pull this one off though. I expect he will stay with Madrid.

I don't think Varane is anywhere near Ferdinand or Van Dijk levels but he would be a great signing as he's much better than Lindelof or Bailly.

The minimum quality of CB we should be signing this summer is a Varane or Akanji. If they're not as good on the ball or as fast and strong as them I don't wanna hear it!

Ferdinand I agree. Van Dijk, he could make that move. New club, new motivation.

Remember how incredibly poor we became as soon as Maguire was injured? I hope we get this done as soon as possible, and hopefully Bailly will be sold with view to signing a young centre back as well.

True..Baily and Lindelof should be sold and replace with 1 decent young defender+varane

Matic/Perrera / Dalot / Jones / Baily / Lindelof still lot to go to have a winning team.

Not even 100 pages yet. Therefore, It’s not a muppet thread yet.

Also not sure we’ve had a really believable link to him yet from someone generally reliable.
Duker is as reliable as they come for United. It's just question whether Varane wants to come or not but we are trying to get him. That part is not in doubt anymore

Full quote from Ducker's article. Sounds very promising!

United will now turn their attention to trying to sign a new centre-half, with Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane their priority target. Varane has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Real and would like to pursue a new challenge.

Maguire is very good, but wouldn’t blame the results on him getting injured. He was out for 4 PL games, which we didn’t need to win, and we played the kids in two of them. He was out for the EL final and we conceded 1 goal in 120 minutes. We’ve also had poor games with him, like Spurs 1-6, Everton 3-3, and Istanbul away which cost us CL. I’m no fan of Bailly but United don’t have the luxury of selling any CBs right now, especially not of Axel is going on a loan.

Varane would be amazing if he joined. But I see him staying or going elsewhere. Possibly PSG or City if they sell Laporte
PSG makes no sense. They already have Marquinhos and Kimpembe and look to be signing Ramos on a free. Don't see City spending much on a centre back when they're chasing Grealish/Kane.

If we got him after signing Sancho, then Murtough deserves a payrise. What a man.

Akanji looks ok, but is not really an upgrade on any of those you would expect him to replace.

Varane on the other hand would be.

Probably until some Muppet starts talking up a move for Haaland and then it will be on again.

In all honesty I would not be shocked if we signed him, Sancho and a half decent midfielder for a good fee. The Glazers might see this as a way to shut the discontent up for a couple of years.

Is Daniel Harris the journalist who is also a Utd fan, got told by Fergie to feck off and support Chelsea, after raising concerns of Utd being uncompetitive with Glazer ownership?

Wait is Daniel Harris the one last summer who was convinced the Sancho deal was a done dealio? he made a lot of noise I seem to remember, forgot all about him!

In fairness, he was not the only one.
