He was. But then Pau Torres was poor for the Croatia goal earlier too. And Ruben Dias had a poor tournament generally. And so on.

Not saying he's injury prone but (assuming they were nearly all injury related) that's still quite a bit, isn't it? An average of 6 league games missing every season. And those were the three seasons where he played the most league games of the ten he's been there.

Varane is one of my favourite defenders, but what happened 3 times in the box tonight is part of his weaknesses that might or might not be a problem in the PL.
He was infuriating tonight. Kept getting last minute flicks on crosses to stop the Swiss scoring. He looked all at sea wide in a 3 but was France’s best defender by a mile. I don’t really know what he’s meant to do for goal 2…it’s an unbelievable cross…
Varane was Fantastic tonight, That French defense was a one man show at times, The scond goal y'all moaning about he was behind the striker maybe he could have done better, other than that moment he was top class, i hope we get a deal done quickly now he's out.
