We never learn do we. Unless he's had a full bust up (which he hasn't) he'll sign a big contract with the Ramos money they now have.

Hope Varane goes to PSG this summer and we end up with Ramos for a couple of seasons. Means our budget would stretch to a third player for midfield or RB.
I am not too sure, Real look like they have money issues hence the push for the SL still. They can't make money by selling their aging players, Marcelo, Modric, Benzema etc, so the only way they can sell and make money is from their other top players.
Whether or not they really are pushed for money will be a determining factor in this being an actual possibility.

This recruitment is going to be interesting just given the information leaking that Varane wants to leave Madrid but you have the twist of Ramos leaving as well. You know this guy is quality and brings an ability to settle a back four due to his experience and his quality on the ball.

It would be nice, but given how we have been stung before and our useless transfer strategies under Woodward, I have little faith.
Its probably about time we started giving United the benefit of the doubt now. We are slowly but surely building a young & exciting team. This could be the best summer we've had in many years

To be fair, we hoped so at the beginning of every summer. Only the summer of 2014 and 2016 somewhat lived up to the hype. (With hindsight, summer of 2014 was bad but I'm talking about the buzz we had as fans)
they haven't even got Sancho over the line yet and he alone won't change our fortunes that much so let's see the entirety of our transfer business before they get any credit or benefit of the doubt

I’ve wanted Ramos for years for that reason but Varane is a much better partner for Maguire.
A more natural fit with his attributes to link with Maguire and younger than Ramos.
Ramos has been the best central defender around for the last decade in my opinion but whoever signs him now are signing a stop gap, he’s at the end of his career (why do you think Madrid are letting him go) and would need to be dropped into a very good defence.
I would still take him in a heartbeat but Varane is comfortably first choice.
Varane has been the main leader at the back for the best national side in the world the last 3-4 years as one of Deschamps trusted deputies along with Lloris and Pogba

I think Varane would be a very good signing but I get the feeling he's learned alot from Ramos and he's only using us to get a pay rise,

I feel like if he was being linked with say Liverpool then there'd be a lot of posts here about his questionable injury record (misses I think more than 20% of league games over the last 6 or 7 seasons)
