Much as I was hugely underwhelmed by Beek's performances last year I still think Ole should give him another campaign, though I really like the look of Mejbri.
Yeah I'd like to give Donny another year too. If we send him to Real, it's a potential career ender with all the politics that goes on in that club.

Also, as to not derail the thread, I don’t mind varane wanting some time to decide his future. It’s a huge move and it’s not a decision that can be rushed even if it’s been in his mind for a year or so that he was going to leave madrid. And, by all accounts, any target after varane is a madrid target so I don’t think we are th at pressed on time if we need to sign our 2nd or 3rd choice as they more than likely aren’t going anywhere until the varane saga is concluded.

Would be amazingYeah I think there were so many factors for him to contend with last year, the weird season with covid, lockdowns, moving to a new country, the step up from the Eredivisie and a totally different style of play having been at Ajax since he was a kid.
I want to see how he goes once he's settled in and gotten a pre-season into him.
I also think Donny has a lot more to offer with a full preseason under his belt.
Donny is a nice lad but we have an in-house back up in Lingard, who can bridge the gap from Bruno to whenever Hannibal or Shoretire are ready and Sancho is capable of playing in the #10 role as well. If it means more money saved in the Varane deal to go invest a different target, it would be a good deal.
I have a feeling that having Sancho would help bring the best out of someone like Donny. Also he's had a bit of time to settle in, get an idea of what the league is like and will have a full pre season to boot. Always seemed a strange signing to me though, especially given how little opportunities he has had so far. It would be sad to sell him and see him fulfil his potential elsewhere though as there could be a real player in there but we've just not given him any real chances to show it. All that being said, I would still be over the moon with Donny + £10m for Varane - Not going to happen though.

Well Sky are just repeating what The Athletic and others have suggested. Outside of Sancho we will need to sell to buy, the reworkings of that deal could mean 2 big players but we will 100% need to sell for a 3rd. So suggesting both players are unlikely but not impossible isn't news.

VDB is no playmaker, he's a runner not a creator. He should just go back to Ajax, that's his best bet at salvaging his career, he'll flop elsewhere.
