Good thing he's wrong more often than he's not

To be fair, he said Haaland was going to Dortmund when everybody thought he was joining us, so he sometimes gets things right as well. If we are to ban everyone that are wrong sometimes, there won´t be many left to quote.

Because when we discuss players salaries here most are reported in pounds  ?

May I ask why you ask that?
Because it makes your figures wrong. You’re paying tax on the euro figure before converting. Convert the €12m into pounds and work from that figure. My calculations (an online calculator) would put it just over £370k per week which would put him in line with what De Gea is alleged to earn.

With this guy, it’s possible.

Okey. Ill try my best to belive then.

Tbh I'm no expert here. But what is the difference between 12m/0.55/52/1.17 and 12m/1.17/0.55/52 ?

My math says differently.

Someone said here the highest income tax rate in UK is 45 %

According to reports it's €12m annually, I've seen no source say it's net or gross but imo it's net since Madrid offered him €7m net and he refused. €12m gross with a 45 % tax is €6.6m net.

£1 = €1.17

So his weekly salary is:

12000000/0.55/48/1.17 = £388500

That usually doesn't include match bonuses.

How many weeks in your fecked up year?

Also, all the salary sites have the 12m as gross. Not a chance is Varane currently on 388500 /week at Madrid.

None in that formula to be fair. I don’t think your formula is right though. Like I said, I just used an online calculator after converting the euro figure into pounds. You have to remember national insurance is a factor also.

Varane's had shaky moments and been error prone for a very long time though, he's not this flawless defender, I don't personally think he ever has been. He's still miles ahead of Lindelof and Bailly though, and has the experience that means he's a bargain for the rumoured price. Put him next to Maguire and he'll be grand.

I also believe he can help AWB too. AWB’s positioning is poor so having a player alongside him like Varane who is very good tactically (like Rio was) can help AWB improve in that regard. Better defensive positioning turns those tackles into interceptions which instantly puts us on the front foot.

He is a very good defender, tactically on point and bags of experience. For the price being quoted there probably isn’t anyone better.

Never actually seen anything credible linking him to us apart from here..

Regardless. VarON

I think the feeling is that he is leaving. Apparently Ancelotti is going to talk to him but I don't think he will convince him. He seems determined to try something new

I keep hearing about the determined to try something new then get nightmare Ramos flashbacks of 2015

It’s a very strong side and Cavani and possibly Fred aside, those players should all be in or around their peak in 3 years time.

That said, I do feel like these days more than ever it’s “Strong first XI win matches, strong squad wins titles”.

We will have some decent 2nd team players as well : Lindelof, Tuanzebe, Telles, McT, VdB, Amad, Greenwood, Martial etc.

Suited France's 4-2-3-1 though?

Not necessarily. We all know France plays a third box-to box midfielder in the wing to accomodate Pogba. Pogba is at his best in a 3 man midfield where he is the furthest forward. He is wasted as a CM in a 2.

There will be carnage on here if this falls through and signs a new contract

Agree, but a lot on here will disagree with you.

Paying a big fee for a 28 year old is not very Woodward. OTOH pretending you are willing to pay a big fee for a 28 year old is VERY Woodward.

Why is Woodward still here even? I thought he quit?

I miss the days when we used to just track planes. How have we come to this mathematical bollocks?

I’m more afraid we are being Schweinsteigered. Quite a few Real Madrid-fans seems quite happy they are selling him.

I don't trust their fans asthey
You want him to get injured or what?

I just want to see the quizzical look on Varane's face as Jones invents a new way to tackle (See: vs Arsenal) or new way to get injured.

I think Madrid would ideally want to keep him. They've offered him a contract and it has reportedly been knocked back by Varane - if he isn't going to sign an extension with them then Madrid may as well cash in. It doesn't quite have the same feel as the Schweinsteiger deal in my opinion.

Because they reported using annual net in euro and we want to know the usual weekly in pounds  ?

not used to United ever being this proactive. Literally feels foreign. I know I’m not the only one genuinely shocked at this.

Ole and his staff really have changed things for the better on how they attack transfer strategies

Don’t do that.

John Murtough knows how to negotiate. He's a monster in negotiation. First he inquiries you about prices, the next thing you know, after a cup of tea or two, your pants are already down and he runs away with your stuffs for cheap prices. Real Madrid. They. Are. Worried.

He has a bad injury record IIRC. Other than that, a top CB who needs a leading partner whom we fortunately have.

He does not have a bad injury record - granted he isn't Maguire. But if you only look at league matches and european cups - he has averaged about 38 matches a season over the last 6 seasons. And it's safe to assume he has missed some matches due to suspension or different reasons (being rested, being left out of the squad) - so he has probably been injury-free in on average 40 league and european matches over the last 6 seasons.

Or to put it like this - Maguire has played an average of about 35.5 league matches over the last 4 seasons, Varane has played an average of 30,5 - so it's not that bad.

Is it still legit to channel some of the income such as image right to offshore entity to avoid high tax rate?

If he is still 'unsure ' after us chasing him for so long, we should walk away and focus on players who see it as a privilege to be part of our great club.

feck sake

Maybe he's thinking about the impact of moving his wife and children to another country? This kind of nonsense winds me up, it's not as simple as just playing for a different team on a saturday.
