I don't have a problem with Lindelof or Maguire playing, but they MUST show the intensity, desire and will to win than both Varane and Martinez show, if they don't then I'm pretty sure they'll be on their way come summer.

Our most important player. And right before the World Cup. :( I hope it's nothing serious.

Also, feck Chelsea fans.

That was emotional. Really feel for him World Cup wise. He’s such a great defender, it’s sad to see his body slowly declining.

EDIT: feck those scumbag Chelsea fans abusing him after he was in tears. Worst fan base in the league.

He was bossing it again today before the injury :( let's hope it's not too serious but seemed like it was.

We should never be building something based on players like Varane and Martial. Yes, gutted for him and hope he come back asap.

We have to think long term. Hope we sign Timber next summer or someone similar.
Timber and Lisandro can’t be our CB pairing. Timber isn’t great in the air. Varane is a monster aerially.

Absolutely gutted for him if he’s out for a while. Thinking about the bigger picture though, we can’t build a team round this guy can we? How the feck do we manage to sign so many glass centre backs?! It’s a position where players are usually quite injury free. Not at Manchester United.

It was a freak injury, could have happened to any player at any age.

Shame he's made of glass, gutted for him and for us to be down to Victor Lindelof start again. Do we know when HM is back btw?

I spotted that too. Helmets of the highest order

Aah, the height factor again. I rest my case.

Martinez is showing you can be a quality defender without the height.
But it doesn't change the fact that in the English premier league you need a certain amount of height around the team.

If you have 2 centre backs who aren't tall or dominant, then you need height elsewhere. And we're already struggling as it is.
Probably shown in how we already crap ourselves when we concede a corner now.

Wonder how he is, he seemed so distressed yet walked off ok so hopefully nothing too serious

Thought we spoke about this to death. The days where teams play with a physical monster are gone. Varane isn't great in air either but he is a front foot defender.

You can get away with Martinez like we're showing, but you do still need some aerial ability.
Varane is good in the air. We missed him instantly when he was off the pitch after treatment at the very next corner v City.
