His early return from injury truly saved our season, we looked almost dead in the water after him and Martinez both went down against Sevilla.
He's come back and brought stability back at the back and we were able to weather the storm on large part thanks to his defensive responsibilities and ability.
I genuinely think Liverpool likely would've gazumped us had we had to rely upon Lindelof and Maguire for the business end of the season.

There's been posters saying Lindelof should be replacing him and that he should be worried about his place because the Swede has had some decent games (literally 10-15 of which he's had some very poor ones in that run) and not made any major mistakes. Bunch of reactional BS.
Games like this is exactly why Varane is Varane. There are levels to this. Even a clearly physically declined Varane is head and shoulders the better defender doing most of the 1 vs 1 duels; that's not to even mention the massive difference in experience and leadership.

Haaland had one half chance today and it came when he went up against Lindelof. Varane dealt with him quite well.

Thought at one point Haaland should defo had at least a yellow for punching, albeit softly, Varane to the back of his head after he lost a duel.
Our best CB in my opinion, that's 2 matches in a row he made Haaland look like a passenger even when left 1v1 late today.

Top performance and Motm for me, dealt with Haaland well, frustrated him so much that the yeti had to lash out at him, which I thought he should have at least had a yellow for.
At the very least, in fact, as he did hit him.
Him and Casemiro would have fit in seamlessly with the opposition. The rest of the team not so much.
