Ralf Rangnick | ex-interim manager | does anyone rate him?

Biggest criticism for Ragnick has to be how toothless United are in possession. The players don't penetrate open spaces if Ole's weakness was coaching then this is Ragnicks kryptonite.

The team has the identity of a possession based unit but the lack of technical prowess in the midfield means there's no creativity to get the ball in behind.

It's very reminiscent of Van Gaals tenure just the ball is moved slightly quicker with Ragnick. The issue with this style however is that the attacking players are never able to play into open spaces because they are 'ball to feet' consistently.

Again theres nothing wrong this approach but the personnel are not of the required match. Ragnick doesn't have the adaptation of a top manager to work around the resources he has. I think this is not an issue it's to be expected his best work is behind the infrastructure of the starting 11 rather than on field management.

Inherited a complete mess and I can't forget some of the antics of the players this season ("I'm unhappy, cry, whinge, sob sob") but we could be on course for our lowest ever PL points tally- 64 points from the Moyes season. Talks a good game but...

Have you forgot we got hammered left right under Ole last few games (Watford who is on 18th place ripped us apart) ? We would have lost by 2 goals at least if he was managing us today
I also remember us finishing 2nd and 3rd.

After almost as easy a run of 21 games as you could pick. 5 aways from 8 games to come including Arsenal and Liverpool with Chelsea at home.

He is not that good, but then he keeps playing the same players and doing the same things that do not work. This would be a bit more bearable if he did not keep playing players who don't even want to be here next season.

He doesn't have anyone else, he didn't even have a recognized striker in the squad today.

Interesting what he said post game.
Asked about his consultancy role and how he thinks United can be fixed.

Says he’s known the issues for a few weeks and it’s been discussed internally.

This again touted by Ole inners as a big achievement per usual. That stat does not show the draws which Ragnick definitely had more than the hammering Ole had. Maybe you can pull out the W/D/L stats.

Y'know, if we don't bring in the right manager in the summer I don't mind us giving the full time role to Ralf.

You 'Ralf inners' are defending the indefensible at this point. This is what you asked for after all.

Not entirely sure how interesting it is. Ralf is fairly full of himself, talks a lot but thats about it, difficult to say when he’s telling the truth and when he’s just going on about something.

i still think he’ll do a good job as an consultant, but his managing has been a let down

Maybe in your view. I find it interesting that he answered the question as in the past he’s diverted from it.

Then maybe don't send so many players on loan. Maybe give some academy kids a run or at least have them on the bench and maybe get a few sub minutes

How has he been "Fine" ? I mean what did he do exactly ? Both results and football are as bad as we used to be.

He has been a complete failure from every single perspective.

And contrary to what others seem to convince themselves, the season was still very much salvageable when he got the job. We still had Fa Cup and CL to look forward to and we had only played 14 matches out of possible 38 in the league.

He fecked up completely.
I said in mid January that I wasn’t feeling it with him. Really no progress, and if that’s the case, what was the point?

Ole left behind such a shit show that it was always going to be too big a job for someone who isn’t really a manager. This experiment can only be salvaged if we use his expertise in other areas.

The attitude and culture Ole left behind is an embarrassment and so many of these players are lost causes.

Things were looking hopeless under Ole but I find it hard to believe we'd be doing even worse than we are now had we kept him

and no that's not me saying we should have kept him either you fecking idiots

The guy has been an absolute disappointment. Yes he got a mess but still 5 months is a good amount of time to stamp some authority. No play style, no passion, no planning as well. All he has done is beg Cavani to stay.

He has no real power. He’s a glorified placeholder.

Can somebody tell me why does he play pogba in a forward/striker type of role ? Like wtf ? This is one of the most bizarre things I have seen at united. Was flabbergasted when he played pogba almost up top at etihad and so high up the pitch today also ? Why ? Or am I imagining things ?

No, all him. He was supposed to wave the wand and turn these into a class act.

Ffs. Laughable. Look forward to when ETH gets the job and doesn't have us in top 3 in 18 months.

Sack him, he's shite etc etc
The reality is that the board didn’t see it that way and chose not to let him buy players or make any meaningful decisions when it was clear that we needed to. I place absolutely no blame on Ragnick.

They are fecking taking the piss. I mean the players. Surely God has given them a brain and use it on the field. they couldn't be arsed. Actually not qualifying for CL may be the best thing that happens so a new manager can come in and sell this whole lot.

Yes, blame everything on Ole. That's the way to go.

It should’ve been obvious that the Lokomotiv Moscow director of football who’s managed one top flight season in the last decade and managed a total of zero big clubs in his entire career would have been a bad appointment. Baffling how this is how we followed up appointing the ex Molde and Cardiff manager, they have to be the 2 strangest managerial appointments ever.
he was lucky to get the job

It’s not been very good has it, I like the bloke, defended him a lot, but we’ve been so very impressively mediocre and he has to take some of that blame.

Damn people really expected some shit when so much drivel is spouted now, bet if we were solid 4th, you wouldnt hear a peep. There would be few focusing on performances but thats about it.

Lets ignore all things around and after his appointment. Personally i really dont give a shit him staying or not, my biggest issue with him that he decided to stick with this overpaid bunch instead of getting youngsters and brute force his way of play, ready or not for the PL, they would translate that style better, they would be more hungry etc.

People saying how he should adapt to players Ole left him, getting something out of them, while being vetoed to sign a single body, not even DM, you know feck that and feck them.

He wont be a manager next season, so be happy, those posts how he is worse than this or that, than Ole () are just out of touch. People said how every other previous manager needed 2 summers 500mil spent, them getting THEIR players before we can judge them and knifes were out for RR after one week, you couldnt make that shit up.

It still surprises me that people can't admit that the previous manager left a far bigger shitshow than anyone could've imagined. It's worse than his predecessor who was deliberately trying to create one.

I'm not a fan of Rangnick btw, I knew he wouldn't do much difference with this team. I was at most intrigued by his appointment and still am if they give him a real role upstairs.

Theres just something rotten about the club and I'm pretty sure Ralf nailed it when he has just spoken about players coming here for a big paycheck. We pay vastly out of kilter with what the players are showing because we are a brand not a football club. Whoever is in charge of contracts, recruitment etc, they need to go. Get in hungry players who want to work hard and win and compete for trophies. We've become the fecking Woolworths of football.

Yes, blame everything on Ole. That's the way to go.

Ole failed and he’s gone but fact is he put this squad together, he rebooted the culture, he left biggest mess post SAF so he take a lot of blame, not even a debate. Replacing Ole wasn’t and still isn’t a quick fix.

Expecting a guy who isn’t even a manager to sort it out wasn’t really a sensible idea., it’s no wonder it’s turned out like this.

Spurs got Conte on an 18 month contract and really we could have easily got him on a 6 month contract with a 12 month option
